Welcome to Europe all the people of Ukraine. And great to see some many Ukrainian people want to be part of the European Union and have freedom of speech, democracy, and control of their country and free from Russian dictatorship
I can’t think of a country that deserves to join the European Union or NATO more than Ukraine. Both organisations would be honoured to have them. Ukraine shows the spirit and commitment more than a lot of the countries already members and their inclusion can only lift up the country’s already in them. Also people keep saying that Ukraine deserves the protection or has earned the right to join but in all honesty both the EU and NATO will be lucky to have them it not only benefits Ukraine but also both these organisations
Glory to the brave Ukrainians. You guys are on the right side of history. Yes, the EU has been very beneficial to many countries. For example, the GDP of the Baltic countries tripled between 2004 and 2021, with obvious benefits for the locals. However, the EU is not an easy path. It will require and bring with it a lot of changes and even rebuilding the society in some ways, and for this reason it's very likely that there will be significant opposition to it, especially after the first few years. Also, the EU probably won't help if there's a lot of corruption, in fact the same corrupt people will probably start stealing EU subsidies, and the problem will persist. Corruption has to go before Ukraine can join the EU. In the end the EU is a choice, and it's first and foremost based on values, not maximum profit. Also, the EU is not the same as NATO. The EU is an economic and political union, while NATO is a defense alliance. It's possible for a country to be part of the EU and not be in NATO, like Austria. Likewise it's also possible for a country to be in NATO but not in the EU, like Norway. Being an EU member also doesn't automatically mean the adoption of the Euro, or joining the Schengen Area for freedom of movement. Croatia joined the EU in 2013, but it took until 2023 for them to adopt the Euro and to join the Schengen Area. All of these things are challenges in their own right, on top of the challenges related to joining the EU.
This channel just popped up in my feed while watching 1420. This reminds me a lot of that channel, but it's obviously a lot less depressing. It's always interesting to see ordinary people's points of view, especially Ukrainians in these times. If I could offer you a bit of advice: If you interview more than one person, put them next to each other instead of standing in the middle. Since you only have a phone as a microphone you won't have to move it back and forth and the conversation will be more fluid. Also hoping that your questions will evolve as the channel does. Keep it up!
Im from Croatia. I learned the Croats are Originally from Ukraine. So Ukraine is like my Ancestor Country. And its so sad whats happening there. Over one Year Evil Russian Invasion. God Bless you and i hope peace will soon be in this Wunderful Country. I think even Belraus should Join the EU. Because what hat Russia to fear ? Not a single Country Attacked Russia since WW2. And Russia even have Nuclear Weapons. Even if Russia is sorrounded by Nato, it will stay Safe. Nato would never Attack Russia directly. Otherwise the world will be full of radiation of the Nuclear War that follows. No Human life will be possible.
I have a feeling Ukraine is a bit like Poland, highly conservative and relatively right-winged compared to Western Europe. In its current form, I expect most European countries will be AGAINST Ukrainian membership.
How many of Ukrainians in your part speak Russian? because I noticed some of the people you interviewed had broken ukrainian .. seemed like Russian was their first language
You can meet people not speaking russian only somwhere deep in Karpaty mountains. They have polish adverb there, so even Ukrainians not understand them. The rest 98% of country speaks and spells fluent russian. Cause actually to be honest they always did it, most of ukrainian citizens are half-russian.
@@Animatronica-AI A lot now are forcing themselves to not speak russian because of the situation. Just wana let Ukrainians know that just cause u speak Russian doesn't mean you're less of a ukrainian! It's okay. Language does not define ethnicity.
I'm not opposed to this idea, but I wonder what Ukrainians think need to be done to join the EU? There is a standard - what do Ukranians think can be improved or changed so that they will be easier admitted into the EU? This is not a fundamental right, it is a positive sum coalition. I'm all for helping, but what will Ukraine do for the EU?
I'd like to tell the lady 18 seconds in that the EU doesn't define Europe by law. Europe is a continent, geographically whether you like it or not, and it even goes through part of Western Kazakhstan. And I'm annoyed, each time I have to explain that because my country (UK) left the EU doesn't mean we automatically stopped being part of Europe. I'm not against countries joining the EU, just against that as a reason. A valid reason for example, would be it being an organisation where member states support each other through various financial problems they could be facing. But aligning the EU with defining a European country (by law), well I find it quite insulting.
yes, it won't be easy. the main thing is the goal of entering Yes. Ukraine and Ukrainians are ready to carry out all reforms, Ukrainians made a choice back in 2014 to be in the European family, Ukrainians give their lives for their own choice)
@@Ukrainiansanswer Ironically, strong NATO push and ruined economy makes you weaker candidate then non-alligned course with relatively normal trade relations with Russia.. There is still a few steps to do to get into the EU. Many answers makes the confusion between being European and being EU member. if you don't understand it, you're not ready. The EU is not about geography, it's a project, and some mentalities are not ok with it ( questions about homosexuality, abortion, minorities, corruption pratices, etc)... See the problems with Hungary for exemple, or Brexit. It's nice to see the enthusiasm of Ukrainians but their politics and medias are gonna have to explain them all the consequences of being part of the EU before. You motivations should not be only economical or military. Because on the EU side, Ukraine would be a nice partner to have, and we would be very glad to welcome them soon.

The main plan after the fall of the USSR was a large economic development plan for Ukraine and many other countries whose main resources were agriculture, the idea was to get investors committed to upgrading the farming & road sectors of said nation, in the hopes of opening up it border to that larger world markets, that was the main idea, if Ukraine did this perhaps Russia would follow some times later, the plan, for them to use their main resources as a financial development aid thing, then slowly the economy and industry would stabilize, keep in mind this was in the 90s,

А я вопрос поставлю иначе, что может дать Украина европейскому союзу? И какой смысл ЕС вкладывать в Украину деньги с этим ужасающим уровнем коррупции, когда они могут вложить их в Польшу
Joining EU can give Ukraine an unlimited access to a 'higher value' market in respect of consumption, cultural and technology, it can bring enormous benefit to Ukraine's economy and help boost national's GDP.
Two thirds of the prime farming land is already in the hands of the US. More industry and infrastructure will follow to pay off arms dept. The US have done this all over the world.
Just in case: Ukraine is a unitary state, meaning that its each part(Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea, Lviv oblast, etc.) is to be under direct control of Kyiv, thus behaving like a complete organism. This means that neither Crimea, nor Donetsk or Luhansk oblasts can say "we don't want to be in Ukraine anymore, we are to leave it". Ukranian political situation before 2013-2014 made it possible for both pro-russian and pro-european parties to come to reign of the country. yanukovich's party was mainly pro-russian, yet it had to sign the eurointegration paper. They refused to do so. Revolution took place, russia invaded Ukraine and now pro-russian parties are separatists. Thus, it is a personal problem of those, who want to be with russia. And it is very easy to solve: luggage -> train station -> russia
Ukraine will be rebuilt into a thriving Economy, an deservedly so, alot is owed them from the West an Democracy. an oligarchy money, is gonna take a front seat. Companys in America, like Ford, are pressuring (quietly) their Government to speed up the ruski defeat, so as the rebuild can take place immediately, With the advent of brics, Ford are, would be planning to move their Africa operation to the centre of their Market Europe asap. 600companys in Africa would be doing like wise. The rebuild wont include countrys that supported rusa.
By the way, Russia is the main member of the European Union. Ukraine is envious for the European Union. Evidence: A significantly larger volume of trade with the European Union, the supply of both resources and production. Scientific and technical ties in the field of aviation, astronautics, transport, agriculture, the supply of labor from Ukraine .Financial transfers to the European Union from Russia are simply huge. In Ukraine, the entire resource has been exhausted, or sold to the West. Now only help, they will not earn money themselves. Culture is very relative, it is also common for everyone. But culture is important in everything, not only songs and hopak. Here it is important how developed society is, and it is clear that everything Ukrainian was from the USSR and has already been eaten away and the infrastructure looks dull and sad, there is no potential, therefore everything around is being sold. Bath sheet.
@herluis Alvaredo. Even if a part of the Donbass population would be part of Russia, they have political and peaceful ways to act with their own government to achieve, for example, an autonomy. They Live in Ukraine, that's a fact. They have either to act politically inside their country or either move to Russia. Russia has no right to invade Ukraine. That's all
@aze kuka "Financial transferts to the european union from Russia are simply huge"... You're joking? The russian economy has the same size as the spanish economy ! Besides,Russia is no member of the EU and won't be because it's a dictatorship. Apparently, you don't know what the E.U. is and what her values are. Of course, Ukraine wants to be part of it , be a member of this wonderful 27countries family! Because it means opportunities, freedom of movements , freedom of trade, no customs.... Why do you want to learn this language?
@@angy.litvin I already know French (native), English, German, and Spanish. The last time I learned a new language was 28 years ago. I have wanted to learn a new one for a long time but did not make time and couldn't decide which language. Eastern Europe is interesting to me. Cyrillic alphabet also. Russian will have to wait. I want to go to Ukraine some day and speak it with the people. I feel for the Ukrainians.

4:25 is the right answer. NATO will give defense. Being part of EU has strings attached.

After watching to many 1420 videos this is really refreshing and I hope Ukraine will be safe under the protection of Europe/NATO

Wait until the EU gives them their migrant quotas.
Keep it up!

As the girl at 0:27 said, they should join EU just because they are IN Europe, that's enough of a reason.
So where is the border of Europe? Anyone knows? lmao
I have a feeling Ukraine is a bit like Poland, highly conservative and relatively right-winged compared to Western Europe. In its current form, I expect most European countries will be AGAINST Ukrainian membership.
Greetings from Iberia Península. Spain and Portugal
I wouldn't call it the center of Europe
It's okay. Language does not define ethnicity.
yes as a spanish i would like to see Ucraine in the EU, but also Russia....i like both !
Slava Ukraine from Hungary! Looking forward to welcome you in the EU! We will be stronger together.
Good work! I'll love to see Ukraine as part of the EU! Ukraine belongs to Western Europe, not east!
Great interview 👍
I'd like to tell the lady 18 seconds in that the EU doesn't define Europe by law. Europe is a continent, geographically whether you like it or not, and it even goes through part of Western Kazakhstan. And I'm annoyed, each time I have to explain that because my country (UK) left the EU doesn't mean we automatically stopped being part of Europe. I'm not against countries joining the EU, just against that as a reason. A valid reason for example, would be it being an organisation where member states support each other through various financial problems they could be facing. But aligning the EU with defining a European country (by law), well I find it quite insulting.
Ukraine belarus and serbia are really European countries and deserve them help from europe
Most of things listed Ukraine must implement itself to be viable EU candidate. See ex Yugoslavia as example.
yes, it won't be easy. the main thing is the goal of entering Yes.
As for reforms, key is to radically reform system where every political party has billionaire sugar daddies. Also radical nationalism does not lead in EU.

@@Ukrainiansanswer Nazi, you are dead. hello from Russia
Damn, he was wearing a hat from Amsterdam!

Yes, join the EU, your old enough to be fighting for Ukraine, go to the front, encourage more to go fight to join EU.

Do eastern Ukrainians from Luhansk, for example, feel the same way?
NO! And in Crimea less.
