    I was between the JBL GTO 939 and the Infinity Kappa 693 for my 2016 Jeep Renegade, which uses 6x9 for all four doors and 3.5" for the dash. I ended up with the JBL GTO 939 for the doors and the JBL Club 3020 for the dash 3.5" speakers. It really sounds awesome and it is not even fully broken in yet. I am sure I would have been very happy with the Infinity Kappa as well.

      To add to that, the factory Amp pushes 500 watts. 50 watts to each of the front door speakers, and 50 watts to each of the 2 tweeters, 100 watts to both of the back door speakers and 100 watts to the sub. All in all a decent factory Amp. I just purchased the same JBL GTO 939 6x9 speakers for all the doors and waiting to see how the tweeters will compare. So far, how are you liking the JBL tweeters? And do you plan to switch out the sub or factory amp?

    To me the JBL sound more bright while the Kappa has more rich bass.
    I think it depends on the kind of music that you listen to that will determine what is best.

    The passive crossovers of each could drastically change the sound depending on each speakers crossover points. Each speakers designers have their own preference on when the crossover is transfered from the woofer to the mid and to the tweeters with reference of overlap. If you know this..the loudness doesn't mean more quality sound

    I heard them both in person with 3 of my friends, and we agreed the JBL sounds alot better. The JBL is alot clearer and the bass sounds more like sub on the JBL. Infinity is more like a midrange speaker with tight bass.

    both the infinity and the jbl sound amazing.. many tend to like the infinity a bit more but what y'all need to consider is price.. because at least in my region the infinity cost almost double the jbl price for the same speakers that's why I'll choose the JBL since it's still a high quality speaker great sounding yet suits my budget specially when I'm buying 6 speakers and 2 tweeters the price will add up.
    also don't forget that you will need a high quality amplifier to make the most out of these lil beasts

    The reason JBL is louder is because of energy efficiency. JBL probably uses passive crossovers, infinity uses active (digital) crossovers, meaning it is powered by the signal input.

    The JBL939 is a 2ohm speaker. It's not a 4ohm which is what you were saying. That's probably why it's louder plus when you hit the button you get a +3db from the tweeters.

  • @bleachstain9785
    @bleachstain9785 5 років тому +15

    The JBL’s are louder, but they don’t sound better. The Infinity Kappa lineup was designed with sound quality and linearity in mind. The JBL GTO lineup was designed to get loud and low for the mass market. I run Kappa components in my car, with proper tuning and crossovers I can tell there is a tremendous difference compared to the JBL GTO component lineup (which was in my vehicle before). The Kappa’s do a much better job of being clean and linear, and that’s what makes them more appealing to certain buyers such as myself. Besides, you use a sub to hit bass notes, not a 6x9 speaker, thats why people are always blowing their shit out.

Will cut them off just before the doors rattle too much. I am not using dynomat but may try a foam baffle if it is too excessive. I have Polk DB571 in my other truck and they are ok but I think these will be better. I bought Club 9632 for the front doors and may get GT0 939 for the rear doors. I have not heard them yet. I am waiting for an amp to come in (Rockville DB55).

      Oke I understand your reason. Please inform me the result after you change your kappa into this jbl. As my knowledge, in car's accustic, Kappa would be better in SQ and SQL. Jbl would be a little better in SPL. Correct me if i am wrong. :) TQ Bro..

    What makes the choices hard aren't always the price. I own a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500, and alot of 6x9's don't fit in the front doors according to Crutchfield. But Sonic Electronics says alot of the speakers fit. Leaning towards all infinity ref. Or NVX speakers (Cea certified wattage). Any advise would be great

      I fot 6x9 kappas in my 13 ram in all 4 doors. You have to notch a little bit into the olastic and use a spacer it will go in. Jist dont cut below the screw the holds the window regulator in place. I accidently did thay on one and almost had to replace my window regulator

    The jbl don’t sound bad at all, just don’t sound “natural”. They are piercingly bright and slightly hallow. The IK are still loud but more balanced with better mid bass

    Both are owned by the same company. The infinity are geared more toward the sq market, that's the reason why it sounds a lot cleaner. The JBL sounds a bit more distorted and a bit harsh on the high end. Both are a great speaker, but you have to choose according to your listening taste.

    I can't really tell the difference from my headphones, they seem to sound alike, the small difference is that infinity has a difference in the twits a bit higher than jbl and less bass but its hard to tell

    Initially the jbls sound better to the untrained ear in reality The kappas are more controlled and actually have more detail flatter Eq's just tend to sound boring compared to more colored sounds a full infinity system would sound better than a full jbl system

    Infinity Kappa is, hands down, the best product you tested in this lineup.
    I own them and push them with a Sundown SAE-50.4, LPF set to 80Hz at the h/u.
    They scream, and the mid-bass/bass punches good and hard.
    When I ran them full-range prior to installing my sub, they produced good bass down to about 32Hz before roll-off.
    Out of curiosity, what are you pushing the speakers with, and what are you setting gains with?
    Mainly asking because the Infinity's and JBL's really don't wake up until you give them about 60-70 watts, unlike the 4 ohm speakers you're comparing them to.

      What do you think of the infinity reference line? I know kappa is like the high end model but I heard the infinity reference line is supposed to be high end as well just more affordable but what do you think if you know

    • @josephlaux130
      @josephlaux130 4 роки тому

      @@matthewvaladez8209 I honestly don't have any experience with that line. I imagine they are pretty damn good though, all things considered. I would recommend going with the Kapps though. they have set screw terminals, they are 2-ohm impedance, they can take a lot of power (provided your HPF is set correctly), and they are well built. There are plenty of other things I could say about them, but I will just continue urging you to try them for yourself. I'll see about posting a video of my humble system and reply to this thread with a link to the vid so you can get an idea.

    Those JBLs are a 2 Ohm speaker in the US market at least. I had to attenuate the tweeters on both my GX608C components and GC629 coaxials, which are a 2-way 6.5/6.75. If I were to do it over again I would have probably gone with the Infinity Kappas or References, but for $130 and $90 respectively, I saw it as better value for a 3 row crossover daily driver with only a factory head unit pushing MAYBE 35w per channel vs $400 for 2 pairs of Kappas or $600 for the Reference which honestly need more power and a cleaner signal. Even with the attenuation I have to tone down the treble and bass so they don't overpower the mids. On normal FM radio it sounds really good, but on CD you'd think you were in the studio.

    Im just wondering that the ohms of the infinity is rated for a 2 ohm load. If you have your head unit radio set up for 4 ohms which the Jbl is. It is going to be louder. If you have both speaker hooked up in series then that also will make a difference. Your speaker wire also may cause a smaller resistance which 4 ohms is smaller than 2 ohms. Study your audiophile book or ask a professional who uses actual measuring equipment.

    • @glennonheinrich8185
      @glennonheinrich8185 2 роки тому

      2 ohm is lower than 4 Ohm. The two ohm speaker will potentially get twice as much power as the 4ohm speaker.

    You said in the first video the jbl 4 ohm... But it's 3 ohm.. That could be difference to wire than infinity 2 ohm..
    And other thing.. Why big company like JBL do speakers with strange impedance like 2.5.. 2.7 and 3.0 ohm
    How we supposed wire it!!!
    And if we wire it to nearest ohm of the implifier what the disadvantage for the speakers than if it wired with the actually Same ohm it supposed to?!! Could the speakers break down after a while?? And the sound be different??!!
