I have a theory that each account has an “algorithm” based on all of the criteria they track, internally our accounts are given a score and they suppress or push accounts in whatever way that score seems necessary. I hear all the time people’s sales halt when they get a return, late on bill, vero etc. After fixing these issues, within a few days sales resume.
Sign out and browse ebay anonymously, ebay is bad for showing you your own stuff when you search for it but when a different account or buyer tries to find your items they hide it
This happens to me, too. Then when I Google the item, I find eBay listings with the same exact keywords that I used when I searched on eBay and found nothing. It's very frustrating.
Could it be that the pre owned pair of Rally Moc's appear second in the search ranking, because they are the lowest priced? I think it actually does make for a good buying experience if I were to search for the Rally Moc and find somewhere near the top of the search results a lightly pre owned pair with a considerable discount. I think this is a big part of the reason why a lot of people shop on eBay in fact.
I think that eBay tightening its restrictions would be a terrible thing, at the end of the day as a seller one of its best selling points is the low barrier to entry, now with other sellers having gotten as competitive as they have over time that barrier has risen somewhat by items just not selling but to start putting restrictions on like that would make it a lot harder for new starters.
I hate the 5% rule. Most of the returns were do not fit stated by the buyer but the buyer said that the item is not described. Even cases that were won by me still counted. I wish they were able to fix it. I can not wait for the lawsuit.
i am searching word for word and they are hidding my listings 100%. i was selling speaker box plans and now someone is producing actual speaker boxes like my plans and now i have them listed 4 different ways and zero show up.
Keep up the good work. With regards to returns you should refrain from giving people a reason to return the item in your listing. If they are not happy for whatever reason they will say it doesn't fit which will guarantee a return. With regards to charity it can work and allow a slightly higher price if the cause resonates with the buyer.
I have the opposite problem. My listings show up near the top of the "best match" search, but are NO WHERE on the "lowest to highest" sorting search. Even though some of my listings are literally half the price of the next highest listing in my category or for the same search criteria. I've gone hundreds of pages deep into the search results and never found my items. eBay is hiding them. Pieces of crap
@teru797 Yeah, I'm just shadowbanned. My listings all have issues with visibility. I tested this by putting in unique phrases and gibberish, then searching for it and getting 0 results. Ebay is just another piece of sh!t platform that censors people they don't like.
I feel lile you’re telling us what the problems are, but not telling us the solution. I talked to eBay, and they told me the reason some of my ads weren’t searchable was because they only search the first three or maybe four words. eBay is terrible about explaining why things with the way that they do.
Where you saynot to worry too much about the categories I feel you are greatly underestimating their importance. The categories aren't just used when a person is looking through your store. People also aren't just searching for something all the time rather quite often they are actually just browsing through different categories throughout the entire site. So I have always felt categories are very important. Another thing you are missing and not aware of it seems is the search engine doesn't just query the titles of your listing, they also query the categories and even your description but with less weight loss than the title. I just so by using categories is like free keywords that don't need to be said within the title. There is is allot more to this subject but I'm on my phone and hate typing allot on my phone
I don't understand why Ebay can't list everything related to the key words with page 1, 2, 3 etc. Why do they bolck listings. Why when I search for something paticular it gives me everything but the item I'm looking for. Yet I can find it on Google search easily.
Most of the people shop from their smartphone so they do not have any add blockers. Also the listings of authorized seller shorter because they do not need to put specs in it, like size and color. You will choose size once you'll proceed to the listing . It's not because they want their listings shorter. It doesn't make any sense
eBay suggested I need to add item specifics to 950 items. I started the process and just sort of gave up. I am not clicking through 950 listings to add "Casual" or "business" ( I sell used clothing). Especially when that can be a subjective to buyer. I may do some updates, but I have other things to focus on.
Your listing may not be visible to you because it is promoted and you have adblock on. I know there was a problem with this. Ebay sometimes shows promoted or organic or both.
Just because it doesn't show a top seller badge doesn't mean someone isn't a top seller. It just means they didn't jump through every hoop. If you don't pay for shipping both ways when someone returns for example, you don't have the badge show up.

A recent pricing technique of yours described that when item is fast n free and free returns and you run a sale you can price and sell the item for more dollars then competition “sold last 90 days” due to perceived value yet in this video you’re leaning to focusing on competitive pricing. Maybe I missed something or maybe you’re suggesting a different model?
I don’t think eBay should block any listings...have the criteria choices for people to pick and then leave it alone...algorithms suck and I’m sick of having my items blocked...
It’s in eBay’s TOS they do not guarantee items will be visible at all times. They will never tell us the truth but I’m sure it’s because of the antiquated servers/space cost etc.
So I had a ti-84 calculator with screen defects that I disclosed in the listing. I had a company buy it and return it because it had the defects that I listed. They resell them to schools, I looked them up. They had 3 different names. One eBay, one Paypal and one on the address. I believe they autobuy if you have free returns on and just send it back if they dont like it. They put 'doesnt work or defective'. I relisted it and a different company on the other coast bought it and said hey it's defective but for $20 refund we can fix it.
Hey man great stuff. Listing more and faster seems to be more powerful than using time to fill out item specifics. I still fill them out for now untill I can get items coming to me.
When I list genuine ink last 3 years, it takes forever for buyers to find it, if ever, while other sellers sell them quicker for more. And every time I list a motorcycle item, I get almost no views.
I work for an eRetailer, and item specifics actually matter quite a lot. You have to think about it from the average customer’s perspective, they’re dropping into a category with tens to hundreds of thousands of items, which is overwhelming to most of them. So we have filters to help narrow the results to the subset of products that actually fit their criteria. It makes it a lot easier to find the product they’re looking for specifically. They can narrow tens of thousands down to a couple hundred most-relevant products with a few mouse clicks. SEO manipulation is a dangerous game to play, because the common tactics like keyword stuffing actually count against you. That method is as old as the internet itself. My opinion is that like Google, bounce rate factors a lot into search results. If people view your listings, then watch or buy them more often, you’ll get better placement. The opposite will hurt you, lots of views with no watchers or buyers will lower your ranking. This is all just conjecture though. Nobody really knows what nefarious deeds have been codified in their algorithm.
I can relate to your problem..it is hard to deal with customers..you will get easily stress out..imagine if you have that over a thousand listings..i will be burn out so easily..i am with you with how you list your items with all the descriptions you put...i do the same thing..😀
You know what's frustrating with 'item specifics'? When Ebay auto-fills some slots for me and it's wrong information. For example, if it's a TV/movie/video game character related item, the character they fill in for me is wrong. Or let's say the item is from Japan but made elsewhere, they'll put 'Made In Japan' in there. These are all experiences I've had on the Android app, just to put that out there. The frustrating part is even if I correct it (especially if I choose to leave that specific blank), it reverts back to what they auto-filled. Worse than that, if I'm trying to get my item up quickly, I try to dot my I's and cross my T's but if I overlook any of these auto-filled mistakes, now I have a live listing with erroneous information. I wish they would just let us fill out whatever ourselves. If my listing lacks information because I didn't take the time to fill in item specifics and that prevents more eyes from seeing it, well, at least I know the info that is up is correct and any lack of exposure is solely on me. Is it possible that the listing selling 280+ units with only 4 word title *could be linked through a third party seller? Like if I run an Instagram ad for this product and shoppers click through to this listing... so this listing doesn’t have to be great because the pertinent info is in the ad, and eBay is more of a payment processor
I prefer to sell shoes on poshmark..waaay more margins for me since I dont have to really compete against others.and never ever ever put in shoe model number

So how do I get all those other listings that I was getting on others PC's?? I'm mad about this because as it turns out many of these items I found are much less for exactly the same manufacturers. Items that went from $1,000-1,400 are $400-550. if this was done for reason to screw over the us intentionally. Then we have to do something.
I was just shopping for a lid for a Tervis tumbler and found the one I wanted to buy-but I was on an account I only sell on--so I logged into an account I buy on. I had copied the title and pasted it in my buying account search bar and it did not show up? I put it in quotes and it still didn't show up. I tried again--nope, the item was gone. I started pushing go back until I was back where I started--and there was the item. I bought it. Why didn't it show up when I typed in the exact title they used?
There's a lot of things that don't make sense to me, but when I see a listing with a short title, a few blurry photos, no description, and the item sells for above average, not money laundering high, but wth?? Why am I working so hard to present professional listings?
I don't know about ebay but the google search algorithm allows for like 80 characters but SEO is for 60 or less because of readability on search results. I don't think ebay cuts off titles like google but maybe it has something to do with the title wrap down to a second line and the readability factor??
Isn’t it better to have lower traffic higher conversation rate - meaning people who are looking for it items are actually buying vs high traffic lower conversion rate cuz then eBay thinks no one actually buys so they don’t show ur stuff ? So then maybe smaller title better
An ebay helper flat out told me that if quit promoted the listing it would improve my ranking after I complained .. I did and it worked really good. sad
Hopefully this is true because, n not tryna compare myself to anyone, but I sell more items than a lot of people ik but my rank not moving and there’s higher than mine. I’m finna end my promotions for 2 weeks to see if it makes a difference

Also curious to explore whether or not the my size settings are what people are used to be applied such that they don’t necessarily put their size in a title search? I don’t want Poshmark no matter what I put in it will only give me my size unless I uncheck that and have it search for every size so just curious for future investigation.
Chris I have a question. Im selling 200 to 300 dresses new with tags. (Johnmy Was) I physically have the dresses and took photos. There are other sellers with ONLY stock photos of the dress. Can I use that to my advantage and say something like, "Buy with confidence by viewing photos of the actual dress" or something to that nature? I dont know if they're drop shipping them?

I started selling in eBay since 1 year now and every day I learn something new this site is huge it's like a jungle !

You could use it to your advantage by stating you have it in stock, not a huge advantage, but everything helps
