Just found your channel and looked at 12 or so episodes from 1 yr back (old boat) to now. Not sure of long term plans but if you hope to sail more of Pacific away from Hawaii, there are a few projects you might consider. If I have mentioned something you already have, my apologies. Hardtop Bimini with stronger supports. Many have done DIY- either fiberglas/foam/fiberglas sandwich, 4'x8' PVC sheets (Sailing Spondrifters 1.5 yrs ago) or even using edge-sealed bifacial solar panels as the bimini. It protects you more and is a mounting space for solar panels or bifacials as the bimini top with center strip of pvc for doing boom work. Arch for dinghy davits- DIY, custom or kit- to pull your dinghy up at night and for passages. Consider a low cost ATV 12v electric winch for hoisting dinghy or a trailer winch. Solar Panels- if you are going cruising, you'll want these to generate power . Bifacial panels can be mounted on arch and get power from both sides, Bifacials can be bimini top or mount one sided panels on hardtop. And some cruisers mount 100w panels on side qtr aft rails as well that swing down when not needed. Panel costs are now running around 30 cents/watt for 300-400w panels. I'm sure panels are more expensive in Hawaii due to transportation cost. There are mppts that run around 200 bucks for 60amp output (HQST example and 2 linked together on same battery bank) or the more expensive blue ones. 4 years ago, I helped install 640w of solar (two 320w panels) plus mppt, mounting brackets, wiring, fuses for $1/watt so it does not have to be expensive. If you go with LifePo4 bats for house bank but still have SLA for start bat, there are devices that allow charging by engine alternators w/o damage to bats or alternator (see Emily and Clark's adventure for example) . Sorry for long length.
Hey guys! Loving all your videos! I was wondering on your ocean Crossing. It was very quiet. You didn’t do a lot of talking. I didn’t hear any music or see anybody reading books. How did you pass the time? I sailed to Hawaii from San Francisco in 1993. We were on a 32 ft bayliner buccaneer. It took 19days, 4 hrs and 45 min. 😂 of course technology 30 years ago is not what it is today. It kills me when I think of what our GPS looked like compared to what you have on your beautiful boat! And ours was just handheld anyway I would love to watch your videos in order. Is there a way to do that?
Haha this is just a compilation of ocean crossing videos. We have an entire 4 videos series allllll on our ocean crossing. This was the scenic quiet version. I’m a talker so I can ensure you, I was talking. 😂😂 Yes, you can scroll back and start at the video where we bought our boat about 10 months ago!

No auto-pilot? Still great sailing conditions by the looks ...... nice vid, thanks😊
Great video. Most cameras make waves look flat, you got some good wave shots, there were some pretty big waves
Appreciate that! I tried to capture them!
👍😊🥰
Hi Guys, great vlog...........
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
❤
A bit silent?!
Not our regular content, but we wanted a more immersive sailing video with less narration for this video. 😊
