Today I have the opportunity to look at a dream car of mine, a 1977 Toyota Celica GT Liftback. I'll briefly assess the condition of the Body, the interior, and the engine then review some history of the car.
This 1977 Toyota Celica is on of this mechanics favorite cars!
Why you should be a mechanic? Because you can build cool stuff like this!

I owned a new one in 1977. Loved it and want another! But this one my friend is an advanced restoration.

I am restoring one of these and the bodywork is finished and the car is in paint. I realise parts are a little easier for in the US, but it was very difficult sourcing everything. That said I think it's a great project!

I got one. these cars are great. save it if you can. you can swap a 22r head on the 20block to increase the compression ratio to something like 11:1 you can put the better W55 Trans on it.
the 20R and 22R is a tank.... many cars going 300k+ with no major issues.

Yeah great engines! Wish there was a 16v head!

You absolutely will have your hands full with the Celica... But at the end it'll be 👍🏾 nicely done

I would turn it in to a road monster with a hundred and forty miles an hour engine, we are looking at six or seven hundred horsepower.

That car is guaranteed to cost a fortune chasing and fixing all of the rust alone. You're better off buying one with less rust.

Thanks for the comment.. its 15k + for a decent car, which will still have some rust .. still hole out?
