  • We’ve been searching for a 1st gen Celica for 5 years. The opportunity finally came so, we jumped on it. This 1977 Toyota Celica Coupe is a restomod project - the drivetrain, steering/suspension, and electronics will be modernized while retaining the awesome 70’s aesthetic. For our first episode, we’ll show you the car in its current condition before the project starts. Follow along with us on our journey!

It's not bad but it needs some work that we don't find until some later episodes 🤣

Nice, following along. My first car, back in '89 was a '74 Celica. We called them 'Sell-Lee-Kas' in England!

Thank you! Does your 72 have the original engine or a swap? It'll be a while before this one is running and driving but I'm already looking forward to it!

Good project. I just picked up a 74 that I will start working on next year. Mine needs minimal body work. I got lucky and only needs little work on engine to get it riding. I am looking to keep it original. Looking forward to seeing your upgrades to inspire my build.👍

That sounds like a great project! Congrats and glad you found a clean one. It makes sense to keep it as original as possible since it's clean. Will you be documenting the resto on your channel?

That board that broke in Amazon box the front passenger side is the interior surround of the glove box 🙂

Gotcha! Thanks for the the info. Hopefully it can be fixed if I end up reusing it. I may end up fabbing a mount for the ECU I'll be installing behind the glovebox door so it may be left out. We'll see!

I was looking for one for several years and finally picked a 1977 Celica Hatchback up in late July 2021. Thought I was going to have to get one from Arizona or California but found one in West/Central Ohio. I am also planning a engine swap but have not decide which engine to acquire.

That's exciting! I am wishing I had gotten one from AZ at this point but I'm too far into it now. Are you starting a build page for yours?
