Practice does make perfect. That's why I academy stuff in For Honor. I feel ppl would see more consistent results in their gameplay if they academied for one or two hours every day, against whatever you feel like. Whether it be nuxia traps, dodging a bash from BP etc. It works better if you have a buddy to help, but it works just as well against a bot in training mode.
People consider practice as Homework, and we all avoided that like the plague in school. Now none of us can just sit down and do the studying it takes to excel in a subject.
I had a feeling you've played more fighting games than just FH. Its not exactly a complicated game, and the rate you hit the skill ceiling was pretty telling.
A lot of people think it's his reactions but it feels more like game sense than anything. For Honor isn't a remotely difficult game compared to other mechanically demanding fighters, but it attracts a remarkably casual playerbase which makes everything seem harder than it actually is.

I mean I really do love For Honor it's a great game and I've enjoyed it ever since the very beginning. But I won't deny the game itself is not really that complex and compared to other more traditional fighting games, ( Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat King of Fighters, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Marvel versus Capcom, Guilty gear, just to name a few) this game has limited depth by comparison and when you think about it. There's really not much of a movelist compared to other fighting games that are far more complex and Technical with larger character rosters with every character having at least double or triple the amount of a larger moveset compared to every single hero in For Honor with combo strings that can easily hit double-digits regularly. Especially when you throw in Duel mode... I never really understood why people act like it takes a lot more skill to play dual when there's far much more to keep track of in any/all 4VS4 modes. Coming from someone that has a Soul Calibur background. Nobody can sit there and tell me what the straight face that something like for Honor somehow has more depth than a game like Soul Calibur II XD. (Screw SC VI. I'll be very surprised if there is another installment. That game had such a low-budget and they didn't even finish the planned DLC.) But of course for honor is the very first game of its kind and this game style still has lots of room to grow. Maybe in time, things will change but for now the game really doesn't have that much to work off of compared to larger fighting game franchises. It can be competitive Shore but it's not like this game is going to be showing up at Evo next year or anything.

I suspect there's a few reasons. 1) lower skill players are attracted to 4v4 modes. 2) Lag/Ping is better balanced, so players with a better connection aren't so greatly advantaged. The game tries to balance 8 players out simultaneously, but in 1v1 it doesn't do so good and a player who lives closer to the server will have advantage. In Europe that means West Europe countries will be advantaged in comparison to East Europe countries. 3) also the fact that some players struggle with multitasking in 4v4 gives players who are used to it an advantage. I have absolutely no problem keeping track of multiple enemy targets, battle awareness and strategy is key in 4v4, and I do enjoy where some people who are difficult to face in 1v1 turn out to be easy to beat in 4v4 because they're not capable of maintaining the same level of focus. Because of ping balancing, I personally prefer duels in 4v4 matches, that's somewhere I can face a player from the UK who would usually have something like 6-15 ping while would have something like 35-55 ping... Which allot of players don't realize is a noticable difference meaning that all the timings are even harder to get. But in a 4v4 match the chances are that this advantage of their is nullified by the fact that it then tried to balance better between 8 separate players.
Loved your explanation on dead zone!! Very informative. Also just watching you parry and deflect practice in training has made me want to go and practice my parries and deflects lol. I’ve never been a reaction monster, but I do pride myself on my reads. So that’s how I land most of my deflects, but still I’d love to improve my reaction
For any players that might not like the default control scheme, here's mine in case it helps. Dodge: Left Bumper/L1. GB: Right Stick/R3. I did this at the beginning of my learning experience because it allows me to do everything except for feinting without moving my thumb off of the right stick, which at the time seemed far more mechanically superior than it actually was.
@@slump1855 Gotta get used to them though. Don’t use them once, hate them then switch back. Keep using them. Within 3 days and you should be golden. Btw, I did a controller mod on my PS4 controller for CGB. I cut a strip of hyperx griptape and put it on the top of my R2 button. When you push down the trigger there’s an opening. Put the grip tape there, and now you will get an instant reaction trigger. Without it I couldn’t CGB at ALL
My friends that I play with always made fun of me when I changed my guard break to r3 but I told them that it was more comfortable and now they all run it
I swear I love just getting to watch for honor since where I live now I don't have access to internet that can support gaming in general which is such a bummer cause this is genuinely my favorite fighting game of all time with smash bros being a close 2nd. Hopefully by the time I move and get internet again this game will still have a community to come back to
What does dark souls have anything to do with the controls you mentioned? Light attacks are the right bumper and heavy attacks are the right trigger and dodgeroll or quick steps are ⭕️/🅱️
Ok based on how im seeing it buy a pc. Cause there's 1 too few many buttons on console? If you have to remove a figure from guard to do anything you are playing at a huge huge disadvantage. So js there any way to setup the controls to have all the important ones be accessible?
How do you make bots that keep light attacking immediately like in your video? I can't see an option about bots that light attacks only in the opponent moveset. Also if you're playing on mouse and keyboard what's a preferable sensitivity? I use max sensitivity on my mouse because easier for me to move with just my hand than my entire arm.
I have the heavy attack on left bumper so my right finger doesn’t have to move as much. Then again I’ve hardly played fighting games I have MK11 but I just mess around with my friends in it.
i don't know why but, at least on ps4, every time the game bugs or you get stunned the fking white point in the middle of the screen shows up and that is a big distration for me
it's really up to you, play in the way that you are most comfortable. if you want to switch to see how it feels then there's no harm in doing so but it's completely up to you and the way you play

i map dodge to left stick and feint as l1 but gb is the same trust me it helps a lot
I use these mappings and they work angelically.
Heavy: L1
Light: R1
Dodge: L2
GB: R2
Feint: R3
Character Swap: L3

Same i also have my L1 as my feint and revive instead of circle
The only control difference I would try is changing your guard break button to the right stick as it makes it 100 times easier to counter guard break
no it doesn't lol, the counter gb window is not that small

Some characters' some moves have little to no hit stun, like the first half of shaman's zone
So if I don’t have drift then I can keep it at 0 since it’s the fastest reaction? IF I have no drift right??

How do you make your training bot attack so often? My training bot takes years to throw an attack after another
When you set the custom move set there’s a check box for move cooldown or something I forgot the exact name. Just uncheck it

it's really up to you, play in the way that you are most comfortable. if you want to switch to see how it feels then there's no harm in doing so but it's completely up to you and the way you play
