- I've built a lot of commuters and and retro MTBs over the years but this one still stands as my favourite.
In this video we will talk about it but I need your suggestions on how to build it up again!!

Would love to see something like Stridsland build his bikes. A mix between clunker, bmx, big tire, mtb.. he releases his bars today actually, I think they would look great on your bike build. You guys has a lot of similarities in styles.
That paint job will never be beaten. Its real special
Dang-a-lang that's a badass paint job. You might want to 2 part epoxy in a can clear coat it for the ages.
Crust Clydesdale fork. Leave the stem cut long so you can swap between bikes. Eventually find a frame with Clydesdale out front and xtracycle out back. You would have a bike you can carry three frames at once. Ultimate save old bikes build!
Would love to see it with some 700c aero disc tubular wheels and michelin cyclocross jet tires. bullhorn bars, and fixed gear for a tracklocross build.
Would also love to see an urban assault bike, big balloon slicks on 650b or 26ers, really the biggest fattest slicks you can fit with some alloy renthal dirtbike bars, chunky 90s bmx stem, and a straight leg dirt jump fork, brooklyn machine works shinburger pedals (or just some good bear traps)
My suggestion is to convert it into a BMX with 80s neon/pastel colors and design. Maybe with affordable magnesium 5 spoke wheels too? Greetings from Croatia
The handlebar is SICK !!
That is perfect - absolutely love that paintjob!
the backswept bars + fat 26 inch tires + big front basket looks like its from toastybikes. i really dig it!
I'm biding my time on building up a big comfy tracklo-mtb. Haven't come across any decent frame to cannibalize yet, just have the dream. Fixed/free hub and a double chainring to make ratios like 42/16 fixed for bumbling around town, and 34/22 on the free side to ride around the woods of the river valley area nearby. Not-too-knobby but not-too-smooth 700c x 44 or thereabouts. Kind of two-faced version of your single speed build at 1:50 to be honest.
Keep that bike as it is, it obviously means a lot, save another old bike that's looking sorry somewhere👍
I do feel that the older mountain bikes are the new way of klunkers. They're cheap, they're fun and they're easy to work on. Can't wait to see what you do with it. I say clunk it out. Bm x bars couster break either a single or a triple nexus with a couster break just have fun with it
Spray the frame with a tin of tartan paint, then ride the Highlands!
What a paint job 😍
Would also love to see something klunker like with fat tires, wide bars and a bmx toploader stem!
Great job of paint and funny.
thanks for share this beautiful video.
☺👍
Hey :D You got so many great bikes and you create such good films. The ride with your dad looked amazing. Take care and do more of those rides. May I ask where you get all the parts like cool tires and update gear?
Drop bar shifters on a scorpion bar with an old school MTB group on the low with a compact crank on 650b, I see some panaracers too...
Excellent idea! Way to involve your viewers. Very cool concept!!
Mix of Kluncker and BMX. Instead of coaster brake go freewheel with a rear rim brake. Maybe even an old school Monarch style dual spring fork?
Glad I have one or two of the OG hand cut SOB stickers...
The three-year-old paint job looks like it belongs on the wall at MOMA!
26 in wheels with Bosco bars !👍
Upright klunker with sweptback bars would be awesome
Cool bike and paint job! I've saved a 1995 Giant Granite with the same weird geometry. It's supossed to be a XXL 24 inch frame hence the long steerer tube and top tube just barely starting to wedge between my cheeks when standing over it. It's showing about the same amount of seatpost as yours. BUT when I measure it against my other 90's giant which is about 1 inch lower it has the SAME top tube lenght. I've read somewhere that they just used the same lenght top and down tube as much as possible betweeen sizes to reduce cost, whilst making the standover higher.
Its that crisp apple tasty here that gives the joy..and hey..how do you even keep those tyres white?
Enjoy a scrub for some good therapy..?
Polo ! Go Polo ! Merci Supa vidéo.
Make it a wheelie bike aka SE bike, aka oversized bmx. Lets see if bulky boy can bunny hop!?
Love the Bucky inspired water bottle 😂
Monster cross!
Any chance of restocking the gold 'save old bikes' and 'bulky boys bike club' stickers please? They sold out from under my nose, quite literally as i was adding other items to the cart.
Please do a restock on these stickers!
Cheers from Canada ✌🤙
Sorry If this is mentioned elsewhere, but what cantilever brakes did you use to run the 700c wheels?
That's an outstanding solution rather than have the brake bosses moved
Ape hangers, banana seat, stick shift internal gears.
OMG my first proper bike (MTB-style) was an Emmelle 🎉
Make it into a big bmx cruiser style
700 front , 26 or smaller rear , apehangers
A set of motobars with bmx stem
First build, why not try to make it as close to period as possiblle, like, this would be the reference build. Deore and XT mechs and biopace front rings with Shimano cranks were gorgious in the late 80's early 90s, homage style 26x2.2" tyres, original size bars, not to mention a geniune leather saddle. Maybe not easy to come by the parts and not one of your typical builds but there you could go crazy and at least the bike would start as it was intended??
I don’t think this is the channel for that 😉
Haha, you are probably right, it might get Craig out of the morphing comfort zone, and thats a challange. 80s and 90s MTBs are really adaptable but with clean original "upper end" kit, they still look stunning...if not a little uncomfortable @@adrechsel
Paint the wheels/spokes Multicolored
Hey mate, love the vids, question, how do you adapt old steer tube setup with a modern stem and 31.8 bars?
There are quill stem adapters on the market, you can ask your local bike shop if they have any
Do you get much toe everlap? Especially with the 700 wheels it looks like the tires are pretty close to the pedals
3:55 is that an Izzy Swan cameo?
when does the bike build start in the video?
Run it fixed gear for a while !!
What’s that song playing at 4:46? Such a jam.
