I am saving this video for the next time someone tells me that I have too many bikes. 😃
😁🙌
These guys and pros closet, etc are totally insane, overpriced used bikes by hoarding them away from normal people!!!
@@saylaveenadmearedead Samr for the old school bmx bikes !
😂
It's definitely an obsession. Especially when you come across that ultra rare ride that you couldn't afford back in the day. I love to see these old bikes get a new life. I also love to travel back in time on them to the golden age of MTB's.
your videos are wonderful. the 90s MTB stuff is great to see, 9 speed drivetrains evolved quite nicely it's cool that you even use 8s and 7s. we really enjoy charity videos. I SMASHED that like button.
Well, you’re the first I’ve heard say that the ideal number of bikes is “N - 1”! The bikes are a trip down memory lane for me, including the canoe, which is ironically your first video I ever watched. But I stayed because you’re a great guy!
Thanks my friend
Beautiful collection… now I can show my wife that a ‘few’ bikes is totally normal, including project bikes 😀😎🎉👍👊 your Ritchie Ascent reminds me of my Klein Rascal, love that you made it a 1x ! Cheers. Nice to ‘meet’ you -Glenn R
Dude this may be one of the best bike collections ever on UA-cam
Can’t f’n wait for that Triton build!!! Thanks for keeping me interested in my lifelong passion, my friend! Stay up!
Bro you are so down to earth, I appreciate your work posting this very nice videos, kudos.
you have a new subscriber!!!
Very nice collection i have like a dozen on my porch mostly trek , few road bikes a lady next door just gave me 4 2 road bikes and 2 bmx ..saint tropez i love riding i think its 80s and a dyno ..raleigh so i have so much projects for a long time i was surprised not seeing you have any GT avalanches..zaskars or karakoram those are excellent fun bikes...great video 👍best of luck with bikelist
Great collection of all your bikes and congratulations on the new move
What a great collection. I currently have three retro bikes and one in build plus two of my more modern rides in the garage. No doubt I will build more and some I’ll build to sell. It’s a great hobby and I really enjoy riding them 🙂
Wow, that's alot of bikes. My wife is worried about my seven bikes! Although yours are certainly beautiful works of art. And should be considered an art collection.
Seven’s a nice number 😁
@@oldshovel yeah, we always have a bike to ride for anyone who may need one.
Very nice collection. I own 4 so far. Fun and healthy hobby. Never gets old
So happy to see this video! What an amazing collection!!
Thanks 🙏
Love the collection! It’s good to know that I’m not alone with my love of having many (and I do mean many) retro rides lol. More than just bikes, they’re history…that’s my justification anyway haha
I've been hoping for this video for months. Many thanks.
Time to thin the herd,Rob! lol I went through that during the pandemic bike "boom". Looking forward to the new shop!
Brilliant Rob .I'm as addicted as you .I currently own 66 bikes. And am rebuilding a giant atx world cup mountain bike. And a chrome bmx .like I had as a youth .love the channel
Lol awesome
You have one of the best YT channels in this territory., I'm amazed you aren't at 500k subs yet. P.S. You bike collection is absolutely fantastic.
I have 22 bikes and thought that was a lot but I know how it is.
I said last week no more builds and then the week after a yeti pro and a klien it's just impossible lol😆 but once you've got the bug I don't think I will ever stop.
Awesome collection of bikes you have👍👍and thanks for letting us see them all, great vid👍👍
What a collection. Very cool that you're selling a few. If I hadn't already bought a late 80's Ritchey, I'd definitely buy your REI Ibis. Should you ever elect to sell your Ritchey Ultra, I'm there. I always enjoy your vids, Rob! Thanks
For some reason, I thought you had more Konas, but maybe it's because it's these Kona builds videos that I watched the most hehe! Thank you for sharing your collection and all your other videos!
the bikes❤ legendary love all your videos man
Seeing your collection makes me wish I never grew out of my Univega Alpina 604s. The RockShox were useless but it was my first new bike and first mountain bike and it opened the world to me. ( I still have it minty, stored in the barn.)
I have some of those same feelings about my first bike.
And a huge value for the money...
ive just gotten a univega alpina from my new neighbor planning on giving it new life. it will be my fist steel mtb. i will be adding discbrakes and a more modern fork og gears. it maybe end on youtube.
:)
Happy to see this video, What amazing collection 😍 fan from the Philippines 🇵🇭😊
I've got that exact same Jamis exile. Converted mine to a 700c tracklocross bike. It rips!
Oh man that Pro Flex brings back such great memories. Would love to have one again
I had a 752. Still regret selling that one.
I’m living through you. I have tried building a collection several times but I literally develop mild anxiety about having bikes that I’m not regularly using. I have 4 bikes. One for each discipline (road, mtb, cx) with one extra alloy gravel bike for winter and Zwift. Sometimes 4 feels like too much for me. Im glad you have such a cool collection. Like I said, I’ll live through you. Thanks for sharing.
Do yourself a favor and continue to keep it simple…when I raced, I had my “good” bike, an OLD bike for rainy day training and my CX bike…that was it….now that I don’t race anymore (and therefore don’t ride every day) I have accumulated 2 race bikes, 2CX bikes, 4 “vintage” bikes and assorted beaters (including a mtb tandem). Now I feel obligated to ride frequently just so I get to enjoy my various mounts (and for every ride I agonize over which to choose!). Truly a “first-world” problem!
Love this video. Makes me realize I need more bikes 😊
This is a righteous video! I’d love the chance to own and ride an old shovel vintage kona someday! Maybe someday i could find a frame for you to build up for me while I’m still riding. Thanks for posting this! Wishing you and your circle well from my corner of the universe
Beautiful collection 😎
great fleet update!
nice collection man! aiming to get there some day...
Great collection ! I am still hoping to find some last of the XT canti's. i have a set yet can not find them so might have to buy some
Seu trabalho e canal é uma inspiração. Acompanho daqui do Brasil. A parte mais difícil é desapegar e organizar tudo, realmente. Também quero fazer isso, organizar um espaço adequado para a restauração das bicicletas. Continuem com seu brilhante canal e restaurações incríveis.
Im not a mountain biker. Im a roadie, but for several years now Ive been watching for a good 80s/90s rigid MTB to build up into a bike for me. Recently bought a PARAMOUNT, 90s neon splash paint. Couple dents though. Anyway, I think its a Schwinn. Nicely outfitted as I got it. Seemed mostly original, Deore, but had one of those shock absorbing stems. I think its called a Gervin or something. Pretty rad. I noticed you talking about the drop position on the one roadbike. Im quite flexible and have no trouble riding TT bars, in the aero position, or even on my forearms on the crossbar. That said, Ive noticed my performance isnt always improved in aero position, but being in the drops proper really does make a difference. Not only being a bit quicker, but taking a lot of fatigue from the hands, if even for short periods. I used to try slamming my stems as low as I could cuz I thought I was Gods gift to cycling and should show anyone I passed how much they suck, and Im awesome. Im more mature now, and maybe faster too. All 4 of my rideable bikes have had their stems raised at least 10mm this summer, and just set up my studded tire winter ride and added a spacer and its like a new bike. I love it now. Turns out, breathing is important. Thanks for the exhaustive tour. Love it. I used to collect, big time. I had frames all over the place, projects half done, you know. I thinned down, got 5 of my own. Only one of which is a modern carbon fiber bike. The rest are french and japanese vintage steel roadbikes.
I’ve got a Pulse race that climbs so well. I have to keep it just because it’s a Klein and a dream bike.
Hei Rob, try doing a suspension correction on your Klein's RS Judy LT from current to a 0mm of travel. I did that on my GT karagoram RS Judy and now the bike rides like a dream 😀
So cool this video man ! For thé Cross Roads, please do the Classic Gravel conversion with MicroShift and Surly Corner Bar !
This is a great video for my wife to watch😂😂 good luck with the sale and happy trails.
Lol 😂
This is an epic collection.
Digging it. It is tough to part with some bikes and frames. I need to go through the shed and see what I can part with. Ugh!
That is quite the collection of bikes. I only have three of my own, two frames, and my wife's two bikes in my garage. I hope to take wife's 1995 Marin Muir Woods mtb, take my 1998 Barracuda XC URT frame and use some extra parts to build up a 26" wheeled, softail gravel bike
Amazing.🤩🤩
I'll hang on to this video to show my wife every time she say I have to many bikes.😅🤙
Thank you for posting this. It make me feel much less guilty about the 5 (but currently 7, 2 going...) I have 🙂😂
I love the black Kona with white rockshox that's one bike I would love to have at that size got the same frame just to big at 20inch ☹️ u have one amazing collection 👍😁
So insightful and detailed
I could use a low end 27.5 frame to build from. Don't have a lot on ssi, but if you have something I could afford to slowly build pet me know. Great vid. Lots of potential bikes there.
old shovel selling a few bikes, watches vid...yes, ive been watching you, some nice builds under your belt.
that Ritchey is mint...
😁
That's a great collection, and your having put so much time and effort into them makes them meaningful. I own only seven bikes. One is 42 years old, in pieces, and being rebuilt. One (a girl's 24" mountain bike) is whole but in need of an overhaul. It is only mine until I get that done, at which point it will given away. The other five range in age from 22 years to less than a year and are fully ride-able. No mountain bikes, no CX or "gravel" bikes. Just road and commuter bikes.
BOOOO GET A MOUNTAIN BIKE
Hey check that crossroad's tire clearance; Some of those crossroads frames will fit 29x2.2! I've got one set up as a touring bike and have been trying to find one that I can turn into a flexy fun 29er.
Love the new BikeList site. I always favor ads for bikes with the FRAME SIZE in the AD’s TITLE. If it’s not gonna fit, none of the other awesome features matter. Right? Wall art is great, but like you, I ride all my babies! My info priority rank: 1. Category, 2. Size, 3. Make/Model, 4. Drivetrain/Components, 5. Price, etc…. Think of it this way. # 1, 2 and 3 are the non-negotiables . Everything else can be changed. Hope this helps. Happy pedaling! Can’t wait for your next video.
Good tip on putting the size in the title. I may need to update my listings. 😁🙌
Always loved that Panasonic.
Hi i watch your videos in Venezuela. I am Héctor 55 years old. God Blees to you dear friend.
I'm honestly shocked how many bikes you have 😱😱😱. I would like one
Regarding your Niner gravel bike, Try a Salsa Cowchipper! Super wide flare and nice long handles
Thanks for sharing the bike man cave.
i loved those bikes , here in brazil we dont have much options of brands .
amazing collection... keep the original parts👍👍
Nice shed - was searching but did not see a shed/shop walkthrough. Love the way you hung up the bikes. How tall is the shed and how are those hung up?
If you need to get rid of one I wouldn't mind taking it. I'm a broke trucker with 3 kids. I ride when I can but time is slim to none. Keep up the building. You rip at building.
Man that Cannondale is something else.
Lovely bicycles 🚲 mountain 🚵♀️
Hola, me encantan esas mtb's. tengo algunos cuadros (frames) de esa época: (1990 Alpinestars xt 735, raleigh mti 1000, gt RTS Team, y más). Me gustan mucho tus trabajos!! Saludos desde Argentina.
Good luck on the sale ...
You've given them new life, now some of them can HAVE a new life at their forever home.
lol. Thanks. That’s a good way to thin of it.
Ever think about retaining the road levers on your niner and using a mustache type bar? Im not necessarily a fan but it would be interesting, whisky parts co has a carbon mustache bar…
I’ve thought about it but never tried it.
I do remember the time when the Gary Fisher was being painted, gave me an idea of how to paint mine
Beautifull collection
Street fighter looks like she just blows down the road in a strong breeze 💪👍⚡⚡🇬🇧
“Too many bikes”
You almost have a museum worth of bikes back there! Haha
I bet it smells AWESOME
Sweet!
Great collection of REAL BIKES...not like today frames made by the cycle industry...good job bro!
I aspire to your N+1 lifestyle!
Nice collection. But the Ibis Novara.....😍
This is a good lesson for dowsizing/minimate the numbers osf bikes ( i have 2 cannondale and 2 city bikes) ha ha i live in a 40 for rent
Voce precisa colocar legendas em português! Sao muitos os brasileiros que admiram seus trabalhos. Parabéns
MUITO BOM SEUS VÍDEOS, EU SOU APAIXONADO POR BIKES.
SOU DO BRAZIL
Did you do a build vid for that Cannondale touring bike?
Every time you say "vintage 90s" my knees and back hurt a little more.
Hardest thing is worrying about theft as well, I'm still searching marketplace for me a whip, I don't have a car so it will be my vehicle, but I'm good at tinkering on bikes, from working at a bike shop.
My mate has over 1000bikes all high end from over the years plus endless gear. Personally I think they are holding up the house
Great vid! Got any Ritchey's for sale?
I'm a big fan of your work, and of your channel, it would be amazing to have a bike of yours, but since I'm from Brazil, I think it would be quite expensive to ship here... Which is very sad for me...
Dude, I have the same issue. Love me bikes.
Interested for the panasonic mc-5500 :)
Hope you document and share your shop build...wink.
i just rebuilt a maroon crossroads into a more gravel type with cruiser bars. altus/microshift drivetrain. tire 38c, also max tire i got to fix in front was a 47mm! the rear is significantly less b/c of the space from seat tube to tire. it fits width inside chainstay no problem tho. love the rest of the bikes
09:29 - This JAMIS SSP Frame is sick !!! Klunker-Material ;-)
Oh i want one! 👀👀👀👀
hopefully bike list catch, however the pricepoints are horrendous- remember these are old used bikes with a lot life in them left. hopefully Bikelist over time can ensure the quality of the frame, steel is fixable- but not cheap, aluminium is also fixable- but super expensive and not so easy as steel.
Glad to you put up your bikes at reasonable prices.
cheers
after more browsing, the road section is better priced,
and you should be able to search by frame size and year made
nice bikes. What I noticed is that there aren't any fenders. Is the weather in Utah such that you don't need fenders or you just don't like riding with them for other reasons? best regards and good luck
Fenders look so lame 😆
Do you have a steel bike for someone that is 6'2"? Possibly a gravel build.
All those dimes at the end of the Oury grips would almost total enough for a new bike 😁
Hey @oldshovel, have you seen these comments offering prizes. Seems dodgy
There's a Klein Attitude listed for 8500. Wow. That's about the amount I paid for my 6 of my bikes. Inheritated the other two.
Ok… thought I had a problem… my friend, thank you.
Old Shovel = poster boy for N+1!
I like that trek 850
*GASP* I DIDN'T KNOW I WAS ALLOWED A SECOND BIKE!!
