I wish I had your positive experience. I rented one of these today. I tried to sand my skim coated ceiling. It totally ruined my job because it left the surface scalloped due to sanded unevenly only on one side. So, now I need to re-skim the ceiling, which blows. It was really challenging to maintain pressure to keep the sanding disc engaged and rotating, not a great design there. I think if I had that pad you use I would not have run into this problem. Back to the old pole sander.
yeah I think the original pad that came with it you had to apply pressure to engage it. I can't remember exactly. I replaced it immediately

Hey where did you buy the foam pad for the sander?
I believe this is the one I have amzn.to/3Qqnj58 I buy the replacement sanding discs at home depot but I'm sure they have them on amazon too. Might have even bought the hook and loop pad from home depot. The 9" circular sanding discs are made for a pole sander and they are the same size as the porter cable sander!
