This is good, better looking and it's basically a new car, but it pains me to know that the original mustang just got totally scrapped, like he cut it to pieces and junked it!
The body he had wasn't really 100% original, as it appears to be a donor front end poorly grafted onto a car that had it's front end demolished in a collision. Badly welded A pillars are a serious problem. Working from entirely new body panels will give a better fitting body than trying to fix one that is not straight to start with.
Love the fastback way better than the coupe. When I was a kid my brothers had a 65 Mustang fastback 2 + 2 for speed. Ran 13.90s in the quarter-mile bone stock. Had a 289
This is just my opinion, but as someone who works on classics, it was in tough shape and more than likely was destined to be a parts car. Floors were shot had a lot of panel rust and filler and to top it off it had just been through a fire. I'm sure he will use trim and other pieces from the car so it will not be wasted.

I thought about this for a minute....then I realized that he must of gotten a really good deal on the new kit plus he realized he'd save 100 man hours by doing this. He owes us a brief explanation but man I'm all for saving a ton of time and expense if it makes sense.
@@donny95 Your time or someones life? Build it right or don't build it at all.
I agree. I have been tuning in following the build then, whop... not one piece of its gonna be original in the end. So then whats the point. Im done watching and disappointed.
Nah, ur bored. The point is you get to watch s Fast Back be build. Lockdown is making every whiny Bitches
Who’s complaining about the build taking so long? Definitely not many. Probably the best build I’ve watched since the start
Every custom car needs a vin donor , don't feel sorry for the old half and half body. The heart of the red car and the vin of the 66 , IT LIVES !
@@turboturtle9083 true it's VIN remains
Love the fastback way better than the coupe. When I was a kid my brothers had a 65 Mustang fastback 2 + 2 for speed. Ran 13.90s in the quarter-mile bone stock. Had a 289
@@johnmccabe7920 Me too.
Went from a custom build to a kit car... learning curve for Vtuned none the less.
I had a feeling that this wouldn’t happen as soon as you cut the car down the middle. Too bad that vintage Mustang was wasted
This is just my opinion, but as someone who works on classics, it was in tough shape and more than likely was destined to be a parts car. Floors were shot had a lot of panel rust and filler and to top it off it had just been through a fire. I'm sure he will use trim and other pieces from the car so it will not be wasted.
It was two cars put together, the car was basically hacked together by the previous owner or so🤷🏻♂️
Wasn’t wasted. Needed a vin and and a title
If you listen to his explanation it has nothing to do with widening the car.
@@OM3NSN1P3R and yet it WAS a running and driving vehicle. Good or not, great or not, it could have been saved. This video series has morphed from "body swapping a 1966" mustang to "building a 1966 mustang from scratch".
This guy is literally building a 1966 Mustang from scratch! Mind blown! This, and DIY Gangs' Hellcat, will go down as 2 of the most epic youtube builds of all time!
Junkyard Dave's AWD Hellcat Magnum and BodeVision's GTO-swapped Accord need to be on that list. What a time to be alive!
Mark me down as a “not tired of this build”, it’s bern a great watch!
V-Tuned.. I enjoy watching your channel. I'm not sick and tired at all... Just interested in watching what you do, thanks for keeping it up!!!
No1 is getting sick and tired, if 10 episodes later you decide to reuse the first body i would watch it anyway xD
Genius, vtuned...you are the man! Maybe one day we will meet, if I’m lucky....take all the time that you need, and when you’re done we’ll still be watching!
I can only imagine how much you've spent on just trial and error, but not a lot of people can say they've even built a go kart from the ground up nonetheless a whole car, keep up the amazing work
We all have to learn somewhere. The next build imagine what learnings he'll apply! Sometimes the builds don't make financial sense either, it's just for the love of it. Nice work vtuned!
The Rembrandt of automobiles. Keep'em coming. Gulf coast Mississippi is watching.
Who noticed that he basically do got no Original parts that came with this build
Now this is a build... get rid of the rust and make it happen. Love your videos V.
That makes no sense 😕... it's on a full frame so fix the welds..problem solved plus you would have to weld the center
I subbed just to see him weld it back together...
Vtune said it's unsafe
Buy new body was smart thing to do
You stupid fix bad welds
It be still unsafe
@@_nelson your serious?
@@5luggin yes iam Seriously v tune made right choice original body
I don't gave rat ass
What you say
Iam glad vtune start with new
Be safe
Then sorry later
Look at that big smile! He has visions of what he will do next and listening to that rolling thunder. Great job Ben. Thanks for sharing and catch ya next time.
This is a lot like the Alec Steele channel, its all pland out step by step, what to do how to do it and yet you always end up redoing 80% of all the work about 3 to 4 times over. Hahaha love it its the best way to learn and we get to learn out of your mistakes saving us the time hahaha great job with the STANG A RANG
"All for the want of a dashboard" You've made the best choice, and learnt a lot about fabrication. In fact we all learnt a lot from watching. Looking forward to seeing the new phase of the project coming together... Mustang Mach V
i think i like the fast back better
when this thing gets done its gonna be a BEAST!
I applaud V Tuned's courage to keep on trying despite all the set backs... Keep it up.
Man if I was a little kid I would have been in heaven if I had been able to get my hands on all those cardboard boxes, I coulda built a cardboard box mansion or entire city!!! Kids these days under estimate the entertainment value of a big cardboard box. 🤣📦🤣
K05 T4R well it’s no secret cats do appreciate a good box as well.
This much cardboard in my old neighborhood would have been the equivalent of a snow day.
My two boys would be in heaven! They love any cardboard box we get at home regardless of size because like you said they turn instantly into forts and bases. Good stuff!
Todd R look at all the fun Thomas and Max have over at Goonzquad.
scottyV1000 oh I have 🤣
I love how you just throw shit together and make it work. Raw talent, good luck on this build man. I can't wait to see you rip it.
"You guys are the professionals" 😆
Absolutely love your build. Its gonna be the sickest mustang built from the ground up that UA-cam has seen for a min. Keep doin your thang bro
YES! Fastback looks way better anyway. Love the idea for the wall hanging
He's basically turned a running and driving 1966 mustang into wall art.
I'm not an engineer, but I would totally put those front suspension tower plates angled, sitting on top of the exterior tube, going down the interior tube. That way alignment with the suspension axis would look practically perpendicular. KEEP the good work vTuned!
When you are finished you will have a, "Master of Automotive Engineering Degree", all self taught! vTuned, a "Legend".
Mr. V., you're a sharp guy. While you've had to step back and regroup on this project, I'm sure that you've picked up a lot of wisdom that you will be able to use again in the future.
RIP '66 Mustang body, your sacrifice did go in vain lol. It's a good thing he's starting from scratch AGAIN, hopefully this time the build gets finished.
Edit: change the title to something else as there's no '66 Mustang left anymore.
Died for vin number and a title lol
VIN swapping essentially. Would not recommend trying to register this under the old VIN. Go get an assigned VIN.
I don't really think anyone gets tired of you changing up or redoing things....keep up the hard work.
In the next episode. "I have bought a brand new frame..."
true dat
Finally I met someone that stuff like this happens to you aren’t alone lol . Can’t wait for the finished project it’s gonna be even more bad ass
That joke about the UA-cam commenters being the professionals about the shock towers had me laughing hard
You gotta split it down the middle to widen it. That's what makes it so much more awesome than the other similar mustang builds on YT.
I was looking forward to the body being Widened in the middle, that was the whole reason why i was following.
I enjoy seeing the energy and youthfulness you bring to your task. You are a role model to many young persons ( and not so young ones) Keep on doing a great job
Next episode: the welded frame was not really working for me, we scrapped everything and just bought a 67 fastback. Done.
Well done man, you WILL get there in the end .Great to see a young guy like yourself not afraid to fail and learn from it to better yourself and move forward . love the fast back style .
I really hope not exactly copying the suspension geometry with a jig is going to work out... seems like a naive omission
I have to say that I'm liking this build more and more. I am a huge fan of the fast back body style Mustangs. This is going to be really cool. 👍
Mustang Fastback in a box, scale 1:1 I know what I'm asking for Christmas! 😂
I would bet that the body panels are from dynacorn. They make all kinds of muscle car panels.
Bud you can take as long as is needed !
I'll be here to watch the entire build either way !!
Thank goodness for a VTuned video! Not interested at all in the Goonz Toyota/BMW fake Supra build.
but i bet you still watch the episodes!😂
Loved the original design and concept but now it’s going to be yet another Eleanor interpretation. Putting a 68 body on to a new mustang would have been pretty neat. Your MIG skills are insane!!
Love the channel but that was a total disaster. What a waste since none of the original car is included. Basically a kit car now.
How's it a kit car ??? Definitely not a kit car hes literally building a brand new mustang
Fun Guy 365 well you buy a body kit, build/buy a tube frame, add a donor engine/drivetrain and suspension and there you have it. A kit car.
@@bradkraus5217 So you would rather use a spliced original mustang which is 99% less safe than what it originally was? nice.
@@kanggoo57 if you're running it in stock form I would worry about the splices and structural integrity being a unibody in all. However, where this has a full frame under it now and the frame and the cage are supporting the weight of the vehicle, the sheet metal is just cosmetic. Where it was cut and spliced did not matter unless they welded it in crooked.
I think he just created the Facebook vice grip challenge. Who can use the most vice grips in their build. Best channel out there.
Damn it looks amazing 👏
Hey V, the only thing I’m going to miss from the old shell is that beautiful colour! Live long and prosper...
Gone in 60 franchise owners watching this build wishing you would call it Eleanor 😂so they can just have it lol
It's the wrong year. Technically this is a 2020 now, but the body panels are reproduction 64-66. The "GT-500E" is based on 67-68.
That 65 fastback body looks awesome good Choice. I'm glad V tuned you changed the shock Towers and keeping the stock 65 body with..
You can always wide body the wheel arches later. 1 off build great job..
This build has been backwards from the start.
Marty7787 --- Watch the videos in reverse order then...
It's his money and he's learning what are you doing
I bet that's how ur momma made u is backwards with her face down a## up 🤣😂 atleast the dude is learning threw his trial and error. What are u doing? Hmm 🤔 setting on your arse talking about other ppl doing things the wrong way? Let's see your build. 👍
It's great...we get 2 learn from V's mistakes 😅
@@eds1990sporty I do this for a living, I build prototype vechiles for a luxury car brand.

Imagine if someone decides to skip this episode lmao 🤣
😂 There could be a bit of head-scratching.
Mustang made from local and imported parts
Assembled in America with a few vice grips

Wrong year Mustang.
Call it "RONAELE".
Made a comment when the first video came out on this car. Vtuned...just own up that you are over your head. I can respect that!! This is a big project and most people don't understand what it takes...
so far v-tuned has used about 7 different mustangs in this build, and still doesn't have half of one.
I have built a frame for a mustang before. I would recommend widening the main rails that run in the cockpit all the way against the inner rockers and then run two rails where the tunnel would be so you car get your modern seats low enough, and it gets your center of gravity low too for handling.
Who getting sick and tired?! Lol
I am
Put it this way, even though he’s learning by his mistakes and taking his time he will still finish it before a certain unnamed you tube car guy in Florida will finish one of his MOST AMBITIOUS BUILDS to date, he will probably buy and start 5 more projects in the same time it takes to finish the Mustang build
The trolls are!
@@michaelyackovich155 let me guess u must be clowning on bruce .
Thanks for sharing the build on your Mustang. I'd like to build a car from the ground up but I don't have the time. Or if I made the time then I wouldn't have the money! Sign of a good dude when you can admit to yourself that things need to be redone. That and the fact you have amazing skills makes it fun to watch.
Think someone finally came to the realisation that cutting a car in half was a terrible idea and needed to find an excuse to start over...
The amount of time he has spent on this is crazy. He has restarted from the chassis prob 3+ times. Getting really good experience.
