🚆 4K Cab ride from Southern Germany to Switzerland on an autumn morning (IR75 Konstanz (D) - Zurich)
- The last time we were on this line, everything was covered in snow. Now it's time for an autumn morning ride! Welcome aboard the InterRegio 75, connecting Konstanz/Constance to Lucerne. We are in Southern Germany and will drive through Eastern Switzerland in order to reach Zurich, where the train will change its direction of travel and continue further to Lucerne. Since it is a cold autumn morning, the rails covered in dew and you will notice the locomotive wheels slipping at times. There's not much we can do about it, plus the Re 460 has very slippery wheels when compared to older locomotives. That however does make it much quieter. It goes to show that a train is heavily influenced by weather and humidity and we as drivers have to adapt to these conditions. Nevertheless, we make it to our destination safe and on time. Enjoy the ride!
Locomotive: SLM Re 460
Train stops at:
Konstanz/Constance (Germany)
Kreuzlingen
Weinfelden
Frauenfeld
Winterthur
Zurich Airport
Zurich Main Station

Switzerland's railways look immaculate - like a huge scaled-up model railway.
So different from British untidiness.
That's why some people say between the Swiss Federal Railways and the Rhaetian Railway, Switzerland has the best passenger railroads in the world on a per-person basis. Japan's railways are amazing but mostly in its metropolitan regions.
@@Sacto1654 Japan may be more punctual and faster, but they have pretty severe issues with capacity, working conditions, and the ticket system. Personally I think Switzerland beats Japan Overall
@@WeichenherzByChrookie The overcrowding is a major issue in Tokyo especially. But they've starting to address this with more interlining services.
@@WeichenherzByChrookie interesting but the working conditions for Asia / south pacific as a whole are awful, inhumane people
Bitte nie die Videos kürzen. Die Wartezeit gehört (mental) mit zur Reise.
The railway infrastructure is in immaculate condition. Great video.
I just travelled on this line a couple of months ago :) Nice to see a cab ride for it.
These videos are brilliant. What really makes them great is the notes you add...........thank you!
Thank you for allowing me to make this beautiful journey with you.
I don't know if i saw it correctly, but where there a few cuts in the video? Because at a few moments, a saw the screen skip forward for like 1 second
Have a great Sunday!!! 🎉🎉
Thank you Railway Emotions, for giving so many emotions in your beautiful videos of the main European countries by train, spectacular landscapes, picturesque, modern and beautiful places, and I hope that this year 2023 you continue to provide us with cabin trips in 4K, congratulations and have a wonderful year 2023
Really enjoyed the ride and the view of all the autumn colors, thanks for taking me with you.
Fährst du den EC nach München? Kannst du da eine Führerstandsmitfahrt machen?
Thank you 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
So good to see so many people use public transit in Europe. It's a total disaster in North America , Thanks to Automobile lobby. 🥺
Thoroughly enjoyed watching that, such a great view coming into Zurich
Nice ride, as always 😃👌👍
Great video !!
The SWISS Train System is the best! No budget cuts, no strikes, excellent multilingual staff, efficiency, spotless train stations, clean wagons, excellent schedules and connections ... but then not the cheapest! Switzerland is proud of its national railways!
That was awesome, need to get back into trains, i love my trains. Buses are cool but trains have another cool about them 😎

Gorgeous fall ride with color and cool, damp weather; but winter's grip has not yet hit the verdant fields. Thanks for this lovely view, I sat on the couch with my old girl Labrador and hot tea--superb Sunday morning for me.
Does SBB allow to film the whole cockpit for example with an gopro on the head?
Once more, Thank You, I love and enjoy the ride, greetings from Brazil!
beautiful autumn landscapes, but the camera stabilization upset me
Nice. I'am waiting for another Cargo ride!👌👌👌
Jolievidéo comme d'habirude. Merci pur le travail et le voyage. AMicalement
With the wheel slipping ,do they not have a sanding device to alleviate the problem or don't the authorities like you using them . just curious . thanks for sharing.
There is a sander, but it does not work wonders ;-)
Awesome ride. Thank you❤️
Awesome ride. Thanks for sharing .
Eine entspannte Reise nach Zürich🙂💕.
Frohes neues Jahr🍀
Faz muito tempo que viajo com vcs. Abraço
Neat connection at Kreuzlingen, the local train, probably off the Seelinie from Schaffhausen, arrives just at the same time as we do
To Schaffhausen, otherwise correct.
Es war eine sehr schöne Fahrt. Dankeschön fürs Mitnehmen.
Does SBB have railhead treatment trains to make the rails less slippery in the leaffall season? I suppose they use those Windhoff multi purpose vehicles for that?
The rails are grinded regularly to meet a specific profile, but not to make them more grippy. Keep in mind the rails are in place for multiple decades, if they were treated with grinders every autumn, they wouldn't last as long.
stunning journey, thank you
Spettacolare video 😃😃
Where do you change your pantograph? Right at the start at the level crossing?
The pantograph was never changed.
@@RailwayEmotions But don't you need a wider pantograph for German overhead wires? Is Konstanz build with less zigzag in its wire then? Do you speak German? Maybe that's easier
@@jonkess2768 The Germans have a wider zigzag, that is correct. There is always a certain point where that changes and the station (or even a whole section of track) in between allows both. Konstanz, Basel (SBB and DB), Schaffhausen, Singen, Buchs SG and St. Margrethen can be used by both pantographs. The Re 460 only has Swiss pantographs. And yes I do speak German ;-)
Hey my friend, like
A great ride. Thank you. Do you know if the Winterthur maintenance depot was once the steam locomotive building works?
No, that one was on the other side of Winterthur train station, on the right. It is an urban ex-industrial thing nowadays, with cinemas, restaurants...
p@@RailwayEmotions Thank you, RE. Why I asked was because in the Luzern transport museum I saw a builder's plate on an historic loco that mentioned Winterthur. I have briefly visited Winterthur, but mostly not far from the station. Cheers from Australia.
Nice video.
But what means SBB?
I know DB means Deutsche Bahn.
So i think SBB means Schweiz Bahn. But then i missing the other B from SBB
Schweiz Bundes Bahn
Schweizerische Bundesbahnen (Swiss Federal Railways, plural.) Also known as CFF in French and FFS in Italian
Great ride, as always 👍
Salutations respectueuses .
There is a sander, but it does not work wonders ;-)
Une ligne magnifique et impeccable. Merci.
Très belle vidéo!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Superb!!!
Nice 🙂
Ja,danke sehr!!!
Wow!
Why is the Re 460 a slippery locomotive compared to older locomotives?
If I had to guess, for efficiency reasons. As it gets more slippery, there isn less friction, which wastes energy.
The Re 460 was quite a bit innovative, with the first fully ergonomic (not by todays standards ;-) ) cab that was designed with inputs from drivers, it has permanent magnetic brakes instead of the much more common spring parking brake and many more things. It does all its braking with generative braking only, using the pneumatic brakes only for the last 5 or 6 km/h to zero. This is why its wheels are very slippery, they rarely come in contact with brake pads, plus they are made of a plastic material anyway. Older locomotives had cast iron brakes. It made the wheels much more rough, much louder, but also much grippier.
DIe 460 hat Deutschland Zulassung???
Nein die Oberleitung ist bis Konstanz nach Schweizer Bauart
👍👍👍👍👍
Congratulations!

Im first!🤗
Wonderful pictures thank you.🍺🚈🚅🚄🛤💯😇
