Usually temple opens in last week of April or in first week of May. It would get slight difficult to get accommodation at tungnath when temple isn't opened. But if you ask locals at Chopta, they can arrange camps for you at tungnath. Also, You can get everything at Sari village or deoria tal. Have a great trip😊
Been there in april month & yes, 11 yrs old kid will definitely enjoy this trek. I've even met with a school kids group coming from tungnath temple, they were going to deoria lake next day.

Thank you so much! You can pitch your tent near but 200-300 mtr before the lake & camping at tungnath isn't allowed. There are huts & rest houses built at tungnath so you can get accommodation over there.
Fitness is really important even for a small 1-2 days trek, if you're fit you will enjoy the nature instead of just trying hard to get to the top of a mountain. You can start brisk walking or running for at least 10 days prior to the trek

Yes, camping right next to the lake in the meadow has been banned, it's been shifted a kilometre before lake. So yes you can pitch your tent few metres before the lake
You can easily get everything on rent at Deoria tal and chopta. Also, you can carry your own camps as well. You can also contact Manoj Negi (9837807079), he is based in Sari village & can arrange your accommodation at both places.

No, You have to go with a local guide on this trail now as per the latest rule from forest department.

You can't pitch tent by lake side, camping at Lake is banned now. Also you can easily find camping and trekking companies who provides everything.

Depends on weather conditions but in January there is heavy snow so it gets difficult to hike to chopta from Deoria Tal.

Ukhimath to chopta one side gadi ka kiraya jyada hota...... 1200 se jyada only one way hai.....
We went there using state govt buses & local conveyance and paid approx 1200 both side.
