      Personally, I go by the "the best whiskey in the world is the stuff you enjoy with a quiet moment by yourself". Whiskey is one of those drinks that I've come to not associate with social drinking. One, because really good whiskey can be immensely expensive and two, because people that genuinely enjoy whiskey are few and far between(at least where I live).

    Laphroaig Single Malt from Islay has been my favorite and I have come back to it again and again for almost 50 yrs. Presently about $60 to $70 a bottle, I always considered it a bit pricy, but compared to the prices in this video it appears to be a bargain brand!

    1.- Get yourself some single malt Lagavulin 16
    2.- Pour it in a Glencairn Glass
    3.- Drip half a tea spoon of water into it, (6 to 8 drops)
    4.- Let it settle for 5 minutes
    5.- Inhale up to 3 times before sipping (light inhaling)
    6.- Sip and hold it mouth, roll it a couple of times on the temple and underneath ur tongue for full flavor and swallow.
    7.- Enjoy

      Cdubp01 Thanks for your comment :).. I just see many of these videos with people having to much money too spend.. haha.. The question I always ask myself is.. even if i have money to spare.. would wiskey off that price be worth it compared to other fun things!... or 4 bottles of less prominent wiskey.. I for example love glen morangie 10 or a bit more expensive one like Oban 14... or the really well priced glen moray 16!..,, but than again.. How would others taste and is one of those expensive ones the ultimate flavor for me.. Ahh the thoughts..soz for long reply! heheh

    • @mojo1229

    Personally I love a more peated whiskey but still balanced like Ardbeg 10 or Talisker 10. But, oddly enough, I think my favorite whiskey ever is Buffalo Trace. It's just a solid Bourbon that you can enjoy anywhere or for any occasion. Not too heavy but still a full bodied, flavor filled delight in a high ball glass.

    Lagavulin 16 is best, Glenfarcas second but doesnt have to be the $400 40 year old, just get the 17 year for around $100, and lastly if you dont like very smokey then go for the dalwhinnie 15 or the aberlour 18.

      Malleous Tartarus Hear, HEAR! I LOVE Islay whiskies, with the Laphroaig Quarter Cask being my very favorite. The 10 year is also excellent, and really not expensive. A lot of the super-old, super-high-end whiskies I've tried have been almost too 'soft' or 'smooth', without all the big boisterous personality I love so much about slightly newer, more 'raw' Islay whisky.
      I do, however, genuinely love Macallan 18. My friend and I used to buy a bottle every time we came into unexpected money and share it. It's pretty special.

    Lagavulin 12 is my absolute favorite. That said, if you are all about the smoke and peat, I recommend Laphroaig. The Laphroaig Quarter Cask is, in my opinion, one of the best bang per buck whiskies in the world.

    • @sVenaggedon
      @sVenaggedon 6 років тому

      Man what is with the quarter cask? It's the most expensive whiskey I've bought, prices are higher here in AUS, and it just doesn't deliver for me but everyone raves about it. The Ardbeg 10 delivered way more for me but I can't help but think I've missed something. Do i need to add water or what?

      Lagavulin 16, Laphroaig Quarter Cask are two of my favourites. If you like peat, try Paul John Edited. It's an Indian Single Malt and quite superb. Outside of Islay and peat, the Dalmore 15 does it for me. What balance. Also love the Ballantine's 21 yr old scotch. Brilliant.

    I personally love and stockpiled the Yoichi 10 (said Yoiki).. but I think it's the least example of Japanese whisky, since it feels exactly like a "sum" of all the best of scotch whisky.. which is why I like it so much but it's why I can't consider it properly "Japanese".
    It has light to moderate peat ("Islaysh"), it has sherry, it has vanilla/ex-bourbon feelings typical of Speyside malts, it's slightly coastal and with a sweet entry and rather woody complexity for being just a 10yo.
    But still it's like taking the best of Islay, Highlands, Speyside, Island scotch malts and putting it up together. Which is its good but also its "bad". Highly reccommendable, although unfortunately being out of production its price has raised beyond reasonable limits.

      Nah that's not true. There's levels of quality when it comes to things like whisky a small distillery like Ardbeg is going to work to higher standard than a mass produced whisky like Johnny Walker or Crown Royal. It's the reason that once people have acclimatizing their pallet they all end up in similar places, places that aren't Johnny Walker.

    Japanese whisky? Anyway whatever people like. A big omission was the Irish whiskey. Actually whiskey started from Ireland but it was perfected in Scotland and became whisky. Nevertheless the Irish whiskey has a good reputation. It is distilled three time instead of the two times and there are a few great Irish distilleries.

      It wasn't perfected in Scotland, it was already perfected by the Irish in the 18th and 19th centuries when Scotch was still in its infancy.Ireland put it on the map before falling by the wayside in the 20th century due to economic and political reasons.

    If I were rich I'd do shit like buying the most expensive whiskey available and drink it with coke in front of whisky folks. They'd say things like ”the joke is on you, wasting that enjoyment” or ”each to his own”, but you'd see tears in their eyes.

    I make 250 gallons of homemade whiskey every year. 15 years is the limit on taste but not expense. A gallon of a specific blend of my Brandy will set you back $800.00 but I have 20 year old Brandy that is priceless. Specific wood (White Oak) cut during the winter is the best to age whiskey in at a temperature of 70 degree's and no more.

      Jeez, grow up. Just because it's peated doesn't mean it's smoke damaged. Personally, I don't care for heavily peated Scotch, regardless of the brand. But, I do like a lightly peated Scotch, such as Johnny Walker black label, once in a while, and more likely as one of the ingredients of a cocktail. It's simply a matter of taste.

    Whyte and Mackay, Bells, Johnny Walker, The Famous Grouse, Grants, and a few more, look not further than any of them, cause there are none better anywhere in the world, some just as good, but none better, and as an expert in the drinking of for over 50 years, i think i have the first hand experience to know a good blended whiskey from a bad one lol

    • @smidget001
      @smidget001 5 років тому

      Whilst there is a place for every whisky, (i actually quite like famous grouse) and everyone should just drink whatever they like that they can afford, i have to say.... "Whyte and Mackay, Bells, Johnny Walker, The Famous Grouse, Grants, and a few more, look not further than any of them, cause there are none better anywhere in the world" What complete and utter bullshit. Have you tried other options? Glendronach 18?( mY personal favourite whisky) Have you tried any japanese, taiwanese, indian, french, american, south african, swedish, welsh, irish, or any other of about 2 dozen countries whiskies? All of them have whiskies easily better than any of those on your list, some for even lower prices, this is not about a price point. Just because you have been drinking for 50 yrs doesn't mean you know what you are on about. Ive worked in a whisky shop for the last 3 years and the amount of people who have been drinking for decades that dont know anything about whisky is unreal. Also, "expert" what exactly makes you an expert, do you have a degree in chemical engineering or distillation? have you worked for a distillery? Have you been reviewing whiskies professionally for years? Have you written a published book on the issue? DO you sell whisky as a profession? Have you researched the history of whisky across the world? NO? Then you are not an expert ( to be clear I dont class myself as an expert, im not that egotistical, but i can guarantee that I know more about whisky than you)

    If you want a Macallan with good value for money, look at the Gordon&MacPhail Speymalt bottlings.
    Best affordable whisky in my opinion is Talisker 10 and the Talisker distillers edition if you have a wee bit more to spend.
    If you don't like smoke, do indeed look at Glenfarclas, but it becomes interesting way before the 40. Even the 10 and 12 are really good for their price.
    Ardbeg 10 is the best for value if you want a smoke bomb. Caol Ila 12 if you like a lot of smoke but just not too much.
    (All just my opinion!)
