Hi James's the buzzer is for three things it is to warn for low oil pressure, overheating and alternator not charging just rev it up on starting to stop it sounding.
It's nice to see Sloe P and that both engines started up. Nice that you, Rob, Marlon and Sweary Dan will be so close as we approach the holidays. Can't believe that we are already at this time again. Must be somewhat chaotic with all the kids.... but how fun. Take care, be careful and stay well. Leigh
The alternators on Vetus engines have a built in diode trio to energize the field winding, so damaging the alternator by turning the switch off won't harm them but you will lose any alarm functions. The rev's are the issue, so patience on startup and rev'er up a little.
Hi James ,not being a smart alec but dont run the engine with the ignition turned off ,it will damage the alternator,if when you start the engine give it a few revs to excite the alternator and it should stop beeping ( if the alternator is charging) ,cheers
Hi James. Increase the revs so the alternator kicks in and it will stop (just like the green light on SP) A good thing about this charging buzzer is: if your fan belt snaps mid cruise, you'll get the buzzer sounding and you won't boil your engine.
Yep, some have a light, some have a buzzer and some have a light and buzzer. Just like slo I have to bring the revs over 1500 for the alternator to kick in. I suspect this will be the case with the buzzer. Keep up the hard work, your videos are part of my weekly " youtube fix" Cheers Lyndon

As far as I can tell (been narrow boater for 3 weeks) the beeping will go off when there’s enough charge in the starter battery. Goes off when you start charging the leisure batteries. There’s idle and charging idle positions on the ignition. Took me 2 weeks to work that out 🤷🏻♂️
I don't understand why the council or CRT won't put a little hardcore down on the towpaths particularly through towns where so many people walk and cycle on them. Down in Kings Langley we have lovely tarred tow paths before and after the town with mud all the way through. Lovely!

Hi James, you had a red warning light when the buzzer was on, which was it, oil pressure or charging light? (Not likely to be temperature as engine was cold).
Just to blow your American viewers minds some more, the still used fully intact church where my dad is buried was built in the 13th century and it's on the site of an earlier probably Saxon church. 🤯

You beat me to it. Revs up, alternator then gets excited and starts o charge and buzzer then turns off....😊

Turning the key back to the off position will stop changing the batteries

I have fake grass i put down on the towpath it stops the mud and just has a few clear puddles.

Is the buzzer not the alternator buzzer to let you know the keys in without the alternator engaged?
