They are like a magician or a con artist. They had it all figured out before you ever saw them, and they saw you as a "mark". They started lying to you and misdirecting you, and you don't even know that you have been trapped in a world of illusion.

And for those born to narcissistic parents, the evil narc parents teach their kids that their only reason for existing is to serve and cater to the narc parents. Even when the child meets all of the narc parents' demands, the new demands are always there...as well as the punishments for questioning the narc parents. Sometimes I think that my parents enjoyed hurting me far more than having me cater to their every wish. They'd much rather see me in pain than have me as a slave. But they did both. I've been gray-rocking for almost a year now. As soon as I have enough money saved up, I'm gone!

I think this is the problem. A lot of people probably did have a loving family so don't believe anyone would be like this and can't fathom the abuse until it happens.

I wondered the same thing. It made me wonder how much of their life she talked about was a lie. I'm guessing 90% was a lie. I know the person she pretended to be is a lie and how she acts now is a completely different person than how she was around me.. I'm still amazed sometimes that this is a real thing and these people really do this shit. I don't know weather to admire the human body for coming up with this way to heal or protect itself, or grow a new hatred for them and crusade and crush them all in the name of Bobby Hill and Dr. Pepper.

Or worse, if your parents were narcissists, you think their manipulative demeaning behavior is normal or acceptable, so you stay longer. It's awful until you realize, with real eyes !

Tell me the way they think isn't demonic . To do something like this is EVIL . The hoover is them hoping you are naive enough to give them another chance at destroying you . I do think theres a unclean spirit working through them .

They are good at what you’re describing! Confusing them only infuriates them to try harder to win. They meed to see the error of their ways but their narcissism wont allow them to fix it. Broken people they are and like a broken record they keep playing the same games. Let them play on deaf ears !

I went to many therapists, who all believed the charm of my narcissistic husband, and looked at me, so sullen and depressed, and concluded that CLEARLY I was "the problem". The focus was always on me trying harder and being nicer, and doing more work around the house, since my husband "didn't have any problems". Gee, I was so happy and cheery before I met him, but now my depression is all my fault.

I caught one finally admitting they never really cared, but I know they acted caring in the past. Once I figured this pattern out, which took years, I decided I don’t even want to talk to them. Because no matter how they act it can’t be trusted.

Some of them really have no idea they are narcissists. Being very close to two people with full blown NPD (my father and sister), I can tell you they have no idea what they are or what they're doing. Even if they deliberately do something really, really low and pathetic/psychotic out of rage or whatever... they will in their mind somehow be able to justify it and blame you for causing them to act like that or do whstever it is they've done. They have ZERO self accountability like you said... but also that's because they more often than not have ZERO self awareness as well...

This is by far one of the best explanations I've come across because it specifically points out two v imp things 1. That THEY KNOW about it, 2. The reason as to why they do it. We often get stuck in this loop because we think they're not guilty, and that no one could do this without any important reason.

    Amen.
He wasnt so great at the con. I could see he was a mimic.
It was my deep want of a relationship, my shame. Deep disappointment that kept me in it for a year.
Shocking how arogant ruthless and ice cold he was as i divorced.
The getting out is far harder...
But i am free 5 months.
    Sabatogue is the word.
Now my life flows so easily.
    Which speaks volumes.
And yes i couldnt believe someone could be so ruthless.

@@deconstructing7307 To deal with the spirit of narcissism you need God. That's why it may seam immpossible to beat these emotions and fealings in your life because you do not search and pray to Jesus Christ to heal you from the inside. He is the only deliverer who can set you free completely. You don't need to focus on that person so that he/she can live "rent free" in your head, but on solution. You need faith.
