Recording sounds were amazing...Great job..
Great snare by Gretsch😊
Thank you Thomas for your kind words! Indeed both snares are great and pretty versatile, I've messed with heads, tuning and damping a bit and you can get a lot out of it 👍🏻😊
This was exactly what I needed. I'm looking at Gretsch Catalina Maples and I'll probably go with the 6.5" and hope for a smaller metal snare in the future. Thanks!
Hey, awesome that the video helped you! I kept the 6,5" and am really happy with it and still experimenting with heads and tunings. The stock batter head with a center dot actually is quite nice as the shell is so resonant, with the Genera the overtones are really present.
Thank you!
You're welcome :)
Really thinking of getting the 6.5 if these.
I kept the 6.5 and don't regret it! Very flexible, very adaptable with different heads and tunings 👍🙂
I bought them both. Truly sleeper snare drums. Both worth much more than I paid. I put S hoops and 13" snare wires on both, for more sensitivity. I would put them up against snares costing 10 times as much, with the upgrades. There's magic in those shells.
Yeah, nice! Absolutely valid, I also thought about keeping both - but decided to learn to drum better before acquiring more snares 😅
S hoops..... I need to keep that in mind, thanks!
@@MaxFreist You're very welcome.
6半が好みです🙌‼️
I thought the 6.5" snare sounded fantastic in the low tuning, but preferred the 5" snare for the other tunings. I already own two 6.5" snares and no 5" snares, so if I can get over my dislike of Gretsch's old-timey-looking hardware, I might have to buy this snare to use as an inexpensive workhorse.
Inexpensive workhorse sounds right! In retrospect I also really like the 5 especially in high tuning :)
I dislike both a the low turnings. The 6.5" sounds best at medium tuning, and the 5" sounds best at the high tuning.
5.5 sounds so much more better
