I get the appeal of nitro RCs. They sound like real cars, the fun and involvement with tuning and maintenance. But I feel like it doesn’t beat electric RCs in terms of convenience. You just charge up a pack of batteries or two and put some transmitter double As and you’re good to go. Just my 0.02 cents.
1Stunna2323 Nitro is not meant to beat electric in any means. It’s simply an RC option to experience. People are drawn to the characteristics of a nitro car, it has elements they enjoy just as people do with the characteristics of an electric. If I had a brand new TLR Eight-X Nitro and Electric buggy sitting in front of me and I was only allowed to race one, I’d run the Nitro. It simply comes down to personal preference.
I think it depends on the place, sometimes and electric is more fun, and sometimes a nitro is. I'd probably agree that nitro is more fun, but there have been times where I had way more fun with my electric cars than my nitro ones
Great video. I had a Traxxas Nitro stampede. Thought I could handle it since I had two nitro Helicopter (X-cell 60 and Hirobo Shuttle ZX). Both had O.S. engines and ran like Champs. I did the breakin procedure as recommended by traxxas, and the First year was great and held the tune just fine. The next spring it would not start. I had always used after run oil and cleaned air filter. Which was strange to me because on the O.S. I never used after run oil. I did get it started but after messing with the needle(s) finally got it to Idle. For the next 40 minutes tried to run it but would quit and half to restart. Then it had a change of heart. The engine started reving up . And i could hardly get it to come to a stop. At zero throttle it was reving so high. Tried to pinch the fuel line but engine started to over heat and smoke. Panic set in and I pulled the fuel line. Took what seemed for ever for it to shut down. At that point my Eyes were burning from all the nitro fumes that had poured out, and had to wash my face and eyes off. Frustrated I cleaned it up and Sold it. lol. I kinda wish I would not have sold it. But Im the only one I know that has experience in nitro. I guess I should have reset the needle and tried again later. The After run oil I was using was WD-40 . Thought that may have had something to do with it. not sure.
Hey I'm curious what if my glow plug has a wire coming off the back of it. I just recently acquired a nitro RC, I have 3 electric battery powered one, but as my hobby progresses, so does the complicity of the machines. The nitro I got from a yard sale was incomplete, no starter or glow plug driver, but. Looking at the glow plug in the engine it has a wire coming out the back. How do I heat that up?
Hello.! I’m trying to do the break in to my hot bodies D8, but after it starts, when I tale the glow plug off the spark plug the car turns off.. but if I keep the glow plug in place the engine keeps running..can you guide me what can be happening.? Thank you in advance.!
I run a buggy with .21 alpha force vrx2 And hyper st with lrp zr.28 I do t know if this applies to my country wise But am I supposed to be using 30% fuel ???
Do you have a video on engine maintenance and tuning? I've wanted a Nitro powered RC for quite some time, I'm just afraid of the maintenance and tuning.
Look at his behind scenes shop tour video from two months ago. I believe it is something he attained from a store going out of business. ua-cam.com/video/qXqd6h1cYIs/v-deo.html
hey there ,been following you for sometime now and your knowledge of the RC world is amazing, thanks for the videos!! but i do have one question for now and that is.... what RTR electric buggy AND RTR nitro buggy would you recommend for a newbie lol i pick both because i'm just not sure which i want to stick with??? (i think they have them in nitro? lol pardon my ignorance as i'm new to the RC world) any help would be great. thanks for the videos keep them coming.
is that box electric traxxas starter just a 12volt battery that supplies juice to the on board starter? Thinking about using my portable car jump box and rigging up my car to expose the terminals.
No, there is no advantage. It is just different. And more work. And more fun. But no, not more power, not faster. Having a real engine is the appeal. You should get one. It's less like a toy and more like the real thing.
Also in my Opinion Traxxas EZStart and Ezstart 2 systems are the best types of starting systems in Nitro. Its all in one lights the glow plug spins the engine. No problems what so ever.
Maybe give your audience a variety of examples on the differences in glow plugs and Why there are different ones for different engines and different applications, ambient air temperatures, humidity, elevation, tune, ect. For example: cold, med, hot, long short, idle bar, no idle bar.......?
Don’t forget you need good shoes, because you’ll be walking to the truck at the farthest point from where you are every time the engine quits...which is often when you’re learning...
You had to have broken that engine in. I am familiar with the break in process, I like the Traxxas method, but how did you break it in considering all of the cold weather? I have always heard that you need to wait until it is warm outside. Given that you are in Connecticut and it is only March / April, it is still cold there. What was your method to keep the temps right on your engine
David Orr The days I ran this engine, the temps were around 50. But for those cool days... Beer Koozie. Cheapest way to keep heat in the head while breaking it in or getting it warmed up. An engine head heater is a better method to pre-warm your engine any time you go to run it.
Andy Sickgamerrage If possible, preheat your engine by using a heatgun to blow hot air on head, from the top down. Heat it for several minutes and this will help expand the metals and lessen the pinch. Then fire it up.
I once had to unscrew the glow plug just a touch to turn it over the first few times! (Ofna force .25 engine) after that it was super hard to turn (blisters) but that engine never quit (5 gallons of 20%) and i sold it running strong still! ✌🏼😎👍🏼
My first fast fun rc, was a tacon thiller. 1/14 fast as hell in 2s or three. And insanely durable. I ran thought about 14 sets of tires before I broke anything. It was a rear hub that got cuaght on railing after a 2 story jump. It's a smaller truck. But it was super fun and easy. With cheap parts. I'm talking whole sets of hubs and steering knuckles for 5$ I've had this bad boy for years.
What you need the most to start/run a Nitro powered is:
*PATIENCE, PATIENCE AND PATIENCE* 😜
Hardcore Vibes True!
Best comment for sure! ✌🏼😎👍🏼
Facts!
Once you get pretty good at tuning these nitro engines, you will love them alot!

Huckaberry FpV Not necessary to start an engine, but yes a excellent tool to have on hand.
For a nitro slash what percent is recommended?
Any links to start buying your first RC?
So I got a rc gas truck and I don't know what gas do it need

Love Nitro rc’s I bought a Traxxas Tmaxx 3.3. Few months ago probably buy another

I like the thought of nitro, but I like pulling to much and I couldn't possibly afford the clutches id burn.
How reliable has the truck been for you? I was running through gears (stripping) and just got a replacement from the factory.
Good input, that's exactly what I needed to know, trying this hobby for the summer to get the kids out of the house, thankyou
I'm just getting into this hobby so I hope everything goes well!
I have a problem I dont have a local hobby store the went out of business
I am a huge fan because 9f ur videos I know most of the stuff about rc cars
What sort of glow plugs does this nitro tracker use?
How fast does a kyosho nitro tracker go?

frank carlson Yup, that’s a whole other video topic on my to do list.
Don’t forget you need good shoes, because you’ll be walking to the truck at the farthest point from where you are every time the engine quits...which is often when you’re learning...
mike s Yup, Nitro can have its own built in exercise program. 😂

Hardcore Vibes They have new owners now. Hobby Recreation Products stocks HPI.
Okay. Thank you. 👍
I hate when u get a new engine and it gets stuck on the piston when it's at the top part and fly wheel wont move
