The political class talking of 1.5, 2 degrees and net zero by 2050 is a simple slight of hand, a misdirection to detract focus away from the continued investment and development of new fossil fuel industrial projects. The vast majority of the public are simply not aware of what is truly going on.

Couldn't agree more Neil. What's going on is overshoot in every ecosystem on earth, and massive profit taking funded by endless wars and tax payer subsidy of corporations in the $$Billions. We need to get real about this. Saying 1.5 is alive is an absolute out and out lie. 2 degrees is as near impossible as not, so lets stop the political speak. Look at the Greens in Germany. WTF... is all I can say in a short comment on that one!!

Bio-duality is religious law. Bio-diversity is science.

My conclusion still holds. The developed world will sacrifice the developing countries to maintain their way of life by starving them, pricing them out, out competing, leaving only
2 billion left alive in the world maximum. I also heard that developing countries have a right to do what we did, which would only be true if there was no overshoot, otherwise no

Why is anyone travelling to these waste of time conferences? , there is a direct relationship with these conferences and the opposite happening faster . Like the WWF decades of things getting worse but they got lots shiny white cars to drive about in or cancer research charities when 99% of improvement is just early detection etc etc etc

Thanks Paul. First things first... as you know, it's not true to say 1.5 is still alive, it never was and all scientists knew that in Paris. It's about time that was squashed, we'll be more than hard pressed to hold it to even 2.0 and then there's cascading tipping points. Second, Hope comes through action my friend, it's not really a thing unless it's driven by real action. That's why change is grass roots, bottom up through movements like Extinction 'rebellion, Just Stop Oil, Save Old Growth and other such movements in the a22. The kind of action I'm describing here, isn't the sort of action we've seen for close to 40 years by Greenpeace. It's action that is ongoing, managed and coordinated with clear near term and strategic objectives, peaceful with obstinate civil resistance and disobedient. It's the only sort that will work to get the ball rolling. It's the reason for Scientists Rebellion and people like Peter Kalmus and Charlie Gardner, Franziska Elmer, Mauricio Misquero and many more. Thanks again, Go Well and keep doing what you do. Climate Emergency Forum is greatly valued!
