I think both Scott and Jean are in the wrong here. Jean has every reason to be pissed but at the same time Madelyne was Scott’s wife and “ Jean” for a long time. You can’t expect to him to not still care and or have feelings for her. Scott and Jean are going to get back together obviously, but they definitely need to work through things.

With that said, only the depersonalization of Madelyn into a synthetic lifeform (clone) made for nefarious purposes by Sinister really helps to partially rehabilitate Cyke as not being a cheater. Again, this is all very messy. In TAS version, Madelyn leaves the mansion whereas Scott stays, but it's..... very awkward to say the least. The other major difference is, with the whole 'psychic affair is that Madelyn IS Jean, up until the real one returns. This is nowhere near in the same league as what happened in the comics with Emma Frost (which I hated and in all honesty, any X-Men comic written after 2000 is mostly trash, as trying to repeat The Dark Phoenix Saga and The Fall of the Mutants (X-Factor portion) was more shock value than good storytelling.

I love how layered and complicated this is! It's a love triangle done right, where everyone involved is sympathetic and understandable. We cannot fault any of them for feeling the way they do about each other. I admit I feel crazy saying this, however, and I get that it is "easy" for me to say it, but I really struggle to see this as cheating. Madelyn IS Jean IS Madelyn IS Jean IS Madelyn... they are literally the same person. True, one of them experienced certain things more directly, as confusing as that would be, but it's hard for me to firmly believe that this is true cheating or that Jean isn't really Cable's mother, because they are L I T E R A L L Y the same person.
This situation is very complicated for Scott, Jean and Maddie. Jean has the right to be upset about this, imagine being trapped unconscious for a while, being replaced and still having part of her memories stolen, to the point of not knowing which memories are hers, she is certainly going through a strong identity crisis. But, Scott and Maddie were also very victims of all this, they were having a happy life, and suddenly they discovered that they were living a lie, but their love and the son they had was real. I think Jean and Scott need some time apart, It's a lot to absorb and overcome. I think we'll see Scott have his arc as a revolutionary leader, and Jean will have her arc with the Phoenix again, but in the future things will work out and they'll probably end up together. And Maddie, perhaps, will continue to have her development around showing that she is a person with her own life, and not just a clone of Jean.
I guess if you look at it from Jean's point of view, having the man you love basically fall in love with somebody else, even though it's a clone of you is something you can't handle very easily, even in Jean's case, she doesn't know which memories are hers or the ones that Madelyn had, but she also ends up remembering. It's honestly a situation that was waaaaay out of Jean's control, because she was essentially kidnapped and replaced by Sinister, so somebody else was living under her appearance and name, so of course she's going to be very emotional and upset very easily. Also I'm surprised they didn't give Madelyn shorter haircut yet to set her apart from Jean.
They made this whole storyline look so so much better in 97 Version, cause the original version just makes Cyclops/Scott the asshole, to both his wife who he abandoned and to Jean who he later cheats on

I hate this storyline. Because Jean never died in this iteration of X-Men, the clone storyline never needed to happen. That was a retcon in the comics to turn Madelyne into Jean’s clone later when they decided to resurrect Jean. Jean could have just given birth to Nathan and Cable would still be Cable. This storyline serves no purpose other than to destroy Scott and Jean’s relationship. The animated series was the only XMen iteration where their relationship wasn’t tarnished and it had to do that too. I get that the soap opera aspect makes for compelling viewing, but the child in me who loved their relationship and everything they’ve been through is deeply saddened and disappointed.

I guess if you look at it from Jean's point of view, having the man you love basically fall in love with somebody else, even though it's a clone of you is something you can't handle very easily, even in Jean's case, she doesn't know which memories are hers or the ones that Madelyn had, but she also ends up remembering. It's honestly a situation that was waaaaay out of Jean's control, because she was essentially kidnapped and replaced by Sinister, so somebody else was living under her appearance and name, so of course she's going to be very emotional and upset very easily.
Also I'm surprised they didn't give Madelyn shorter haircut yet to set her apart from Jean.

They made this whole storyline look so so much better in 97 Version, cause the original version just makes Cyclops/Scott the asshole, to both his wife who he abandoned and to Jean who he later cheats on

The series send so many wrong messages.. Madyline may be in the clone but scott It is a married to her and she is the mother of his child. Life's unfair however marriage is a commitment. You can't just cancel it because it is not convenient.

I hate this storyline. Because Jean never died in this iteration of X-Men, the clone storyline never needed to happen. That was a retcon in the comics to turn Madelyne into Jean’s clone later when they decided to resurrect Jean. Jean could have just given birth to Nathan and Cable would still be Cable. This storyline serves no purpose other than to destroy Scott and Jean’s relationship. The animated series was the only XMen iteration where their relationship wasn’t tarnished and it had to do that too. I get that the soap opera aspect makes for compelling viewing, but the child in me who loved their relationship and everything they’ve been through is deeply saddened and disappointed.

Jean had read Cable's mind in the original run and saw she and Cyclops were his parents. I wonder if it will come up again
