This episode hit me HARD. The 90’s animated series was my introduction to comic book media and being born and raised in South Louisiana Gambit has always been my favorite comic character. That was one of the most powerful moments I’ve seen in the MCU in a long time. I really thought this show would just be a dose of nostalgia (and I was totally in for that) but boy was I wrong. This show has heart, emotion, real stakes, and some of the best action in the mcu. I know in a world where the multiverse exists, we will probably see another Gambit but this Gambit, the one I grew up with, died a beautiful death. Marvel, take note, this is how you do story telling and fucking REMEMBER IT.

I just love how despite the dire and apocalyptic situation they were facing Gambit was still being his charasmatic self which gave you hope. Then he dies. This episode was nothing short of a master piece.

With the bare hand... everything about this scene hits incredibly hard. The silence, everyone speechless, the way beast quietly breaks that silence. It's just... damn

Nightcrawler and Gambit are my two favorite characters. This episode was such a rollercoaster for me. Nightcrawler being in the episode, Nightcrawler’s fake out death, Gambit’s actual death. Gut wrenching.

Like blowing up a Kaiju class Sentinel is cool AF but still strictly one trick with plenty of trade offs next to like the 1000 different things Storm can do or the "literally anything the writer wants" of max Magneto and upper level psionics like Jean.
Fun fact: The original voice actor for Gambit in the 90's is now voicing Cable in X-Men '97. Gambit is being voiced by someone entirely new and I LOVE IT ❤️

The best part is that due to how self-depreciating he was, Gambit probably saw this as sacrificing a Pawn to take out a Queen.
