Fixing 1/3 mile long driveway with Bobcat T650 CTL & Power Rake SAVING 60 tons of gravel!

  • Join me for a road mission today as I take the Bobcat T650 and the Bobcat soil conditioner, aka 'power rake' to regrade a 1/3rd mile long gravel driveway, way out in the country in Southern Illinois. The landowner thought he had to bring in multiple loads of gravel to fill in and fix the potholes in their 1/3rd mile long gravel driveway, but I suspected they had plenty of gravel left and that the Bobcat soil conditioner/power rake could regrade the gravel driveway without any additional gravel! Turns out I was right. Join me for some great camera angles as I rework and regrade 6 inch deep driveway potholes, and completely rework the driveway, grade and level it with the Bobcat T650! Also stay tuned for more projects coming in the near future as we have several other projects on the burners ready to go. (A couple of pond dams that need fixing, a new lawn, and some new hunting land trails and heavy duty bush hogging). Thanks for joining us, please hit the Like button and share our content to help us reach more people who might enjoy joining our UA-cam country living and land management family! Also consider subscribing to follow not only this ongoing land projects but all of our other Illinois and Kentucky land management proejcts, Bobcat T650 CTL/Skid Steer/Track loader projects, Bobcat e42 Mini Excavator projects, food plots, small ponds, duck ponds, building roads, driveways, firewood, land clearing, DIY rustic home decor projects, DIY rustic barn wood projects, DIY landscaping, waterfowl projects, wildlife conservation projects, wildlife habitat improvement projects, hunting, fishing, and much more country living adventures. Thank you! Kapper Outdoors, living the dream, one acre at a time.

    Best time to do that is after a good rain that way the dust is limited then afterwards your drive over it and compacted. Make sure you check your air filter engine compartment to wash everything down. Just a thought

    Do you use the float on the rake or keep the pin in the other hole? I see the float has benefits but when I’m making a first pass on a rough drive, should I not have the pin in the float position ? Thanks

    • @kapperoutdoors
      @kapperoutdoors  2 роки тому

      If I remember correctly those are made to be in float mode all the time and should be resting on the tires. However, lots of guys use them manually with the tires up and just cut it by feel. But you will know if you cut too much it will slow or stop the drum. But I've used it both ways and using the tires is a bit easier to get your depth with the loader tilt, while not putting any downward pressure on that drum. Good luck. I have since sold the power rake and now use an SR3 for grading.

    Use a box float it's little better and it works behind a tractor just tow behind a tractor and the weight of the box look will take divot sand are raisins and taking them fill in the low spots and low spots be filled in nice but do it after a nice rain because turns us well to plastic

      From my experience, if you can swing it I would get a high flow machine. Not only for the harley rake, but it comes in handy, mainly for a heavy brush cutter as well. Good luck. With only low flow, you do have some limitations and have to go much slower. Thanks.
