    I run a skid steer, yet I would never turn down gate spreading. Here in WA I've only seen one person fuck up gate spreading and it must have been on purpose. The cats meow is the reverse back spread. You have good machine skills. No reason to put your nose up at something that aint hard.

      It’s a skill and has to be taught or handled down. If the drivers don’t have the skill or no one was there to show them they won’t be able to do it. It’s tough to teach yourself so many new drivers can’t or don’t know how. It’s almost becoming a lost art in many places.

      @@balrog006 we just don’t have the room here. Cape Cod is such a small place. There’s low tree branches and wires everywhere here. It’s not worth smacking the headboard, beating on the truck and I’m not interested in getting a pruning bill for all the hanging dead mangled branches.

      Definitely a time and place for it as well as you described-not every job is the same or has the right conditions to make it worthwhile-that actually goes for a lot of standard practice-some jobs they work and others they just won’t. Nice job, I like the blue stone, we have some here in southern maine. We also do both, tailgate out a load or spread with a machine, and it depends what's around us, wires, trees, etc.. and you'd right, if it's your equipment, then do what you want, that driveway, I'd done what you did,, dump and spread it

    Your comment at 19:45 is the reason you forward spread your stone from the pile. Then your tracks are always on stone. Can't believe you didn't roll a base layer. Even if the customer doesn't want it, it's your responsibility to educate them on the whole process and why you need to do certain things. If you can't convince customers what needs to be done properly then walk away and let someone else be a hack.

    • @DirtBrute
      @DirtBrute  Рік тому +3

      Forward spread? Oh, so you’re the guy that just pushes the pile over knocking them into the woods making a fucking mess. Besides, you’re always going to have some dirt that falls off your tracks. The driveway already has a pretty hard base layer of clay, rock and stone. Why would you rip off the customer by selling them something they don’t need ? That was one of the hardest based driveways I’ve worked on plus the dense grade material we use packs like concrete. It’s been almost 2 years now and the driveway still like the day we left it so save your speech for something you actually know about.

    Don't blame ya on not wanting to spread in tight area's ,the roof of my cab is crushed in from the box laying down with a limb under it, what i ended up doing was getting a couple box vibrators and mounting one in the middle of the bed and one in the very back under the gate, i can dump or spread a load with my truck without raising my box more than a couple feet, just a helpful thought, Anyways What my question is, i noticed you don't compact your subgrade? do ever have problems with it turning to sht while your laying down your gravel? Where i live we get a lot rain so if we don't at least static roll the subgrade it will either turn the road to mush or you run the risk of dragging mud on the clean gravel. not criticizing just curious on the way things work in other places. And that truck is sweet, this out of line but can you give me a ballpark on the price?

    • @DirtBrute
      @DirtBrute  2 місяці тому +1

      @@dLLISh7108 thanks for watching! So this driveway is in a rocky hard area of town and most of the driveway is hard clay mixed with the old crushed gravel so when I was scraping it I could tell it didn’t need to be compacted anymore. I could hardly Dig It up .If it was a new driveway I always compact the sub grade first . The old driveways that have been driven on for many years don’t normally need it if your just adding to it you can just compact the material you’re putting down. I think we charged $4200 for this. It would be way more with todays prices.

All that vegetation within 15 feet of the driving would have been dugged out for various icy n debris falls and failures from heavy snow and ice. The stupid gene of it looks cute don't run in my veins. What's safe and easily maintained does. Gravel don't fall in that catagory.

    In a hard packed sandy area driveway, what would you suggest going over it with? Crusher run and then maybe a little gravel at the parking spot for cleaner feet going inside the house?

    • @DirtBrute
      @DirtBrute  Рік тому +1

      Yeah sounds good to me . You can cover crusher run with whatever you want . Stone or pavement

    That driveway will wash out in a year or two, poorly engineered. Looks good cosmetically, but it won't hold up!

    • @DirtBrute
      @DirtBrute  Рік тому

      It still looks the same today . she was just looking for a touch up . There was no engineering. 😂

    Big Tip. Watch Andrew Camarata repair roads and driveways before you do another.

      🤦‍♂️ Andrew is in New York. Not the same material or soil conditions. Plus Andrew doesn’t do anything special or different.

    i believe the best way is to dig out enough dirt to place used tires down, but also cut the sidewalls on each side of the tire out then dump the gravel down, the tirers will keep all the gravel in place, use cement blocks as borders all around. you will never ever get any pot holes and will last forever or until you dig up the gravel and tires.. it is so strong as well that you could driver an 18 wheeler over it with no problesm...just my 2 cents.. your job looks great thought...you will never get any rain water build up because the water will seep through with no problem as well..

    I wish we had that gravel here in Michigan. It's REALLY a good looking gravel. Also to the negative Nancy neighbor, opinions vary and yours doesn't matter. I wish my pops was still around. So much I wanted to do with him and say to him. Ya got good sons MAN. Raising them RIGHT. That's hard to find nowadays👍👍 God bless and stay SAFE 🦅🇺🇸🦅

      I totally agree with you. I want to move to the sticks I grew up in the woods but they over developed it here. So I think you’re 100% correct
