Please react to Song “Krishna” from Colonial Cousins. The song is in English and calls for religious harmony. I say it should be world anthem.
Colonial Cousins is an Indian duo, formed by singer Hariharan and singer-composer Lesle Lewis. The style is essentially fusion, with a lot of songs opening with recognisable Hindustani or Carnatic ragas and then segueing into a more pop style. They have received numerous awards, notably the MTV Asia Viewers' Choice Award, 1996, and the US Billboard's Viewers' Award, 1996.

Please watch KATYAR KALJAT GHUSLI. This song is from that movie. It's a Marathi movie with epic singing by mahesh kale and Shankar Mahadevan (singer of breathless). Shankar Mahadevan acts in it as well. Great story telling and music.

Yes it's Great Movie
Awesome musical movie
Totally agree! Must watch!,
Awesome musical movie based on a Marathi play.. a must watch.. pls pls pls react to this movie.. I can bet you haven't watched anything like this..

Oh my god! That is a magnificent movie. Only for it's singing. I'm a Tamilian, but I loved that movie even though, I don't understand Marathi very well.
I felt so proud watching this. You were listening from the heart. Music really does not have a language. Mahesh Kale is a legend. He is the student of late Pandit Jeetendra Abhisheki one of the most legendary singer and composer of our Marathi culture. He and some others namely Pandit Bhimsen Joshi, Pandit Vasantrao Deshpande, Balagandharva, Pandit Rahul Deshpande, P.L. Deshpande, Pandit Shrinivas Khale made Marathi Cinema, Drama and music rich. This category of music is something we call Natyasangeet in our culture. Just thought you should know. I myself being a younger generation wish the people in my generation and the entire world would listen to these heavenly voices. I'm really happy to see you guys react it means a lot to many of us Maharashtrians. Thanks you. Much love 😊❤
We have such a great tradition of Natyasangeet. We are lucky that we can experience the expanse of our traditions listening to these great singers of this era who are disciples of those Maestros!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@mrugank.khadilkar08 ❤
The vocals ended with “ Sur Niragas Ho” which roughly means “Let Music be Innocent” (as the Divine). Mahesh Kale is the disciple of Late Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, an institution of classical music in himself. You are indeed following the white rabbit.

Pardon me... They are not the best India currently have.... They are great great... But India still have Pt Jasraj, Pt Ajoy chakrborty, Pt Rajan Mishra and Pt Sajan Mishra, Begum parveen sultana ji Shubha mudgal ji in old generation.

Holy Cow ... What an energy this man(Mahesh)has ... Truly incredible vocal strength he has ...He has an art of producing energy from his voice
That last line literally means 'let the innocence of music be forever' ...goosebumps...literally...
The innocence is very literal translation. It means more like give a childlike purity to my Musical notes. Let every note I sing be pure, uncorrupted.
@@gargidhote childlike purity = innocence....but hey peace 🤘

yes
Please react for the katyr kaljat ghusali movie

Where I can watch this movie
Mahesh Kale lives in USA,
He is teaching classical Indian in USA
Falsetto is prohibited in indian classical singing. The song has to come from the nabhi kamalam ( the centre of your stomache near the navel it is the third chakra manipuraka) so that the entire range can be used for bringing about subtleties in the notes. In the head voice or in falsetto very difficult to bring the subtleties.
What is the highest note which you have ever heard by an indian singer?
@@kaamdev810 most of the Indian classical musicians can reach 3 octaves easily. I once heard Kausiki Chakraborty hitting komal ga in the 2nd higher octave. In the same performance she hits Sa of lower octave. And she was still smiling. I bet she can go higher and lower than that.
@@sagnikpaul1811 can you tell me the equivalent in European notations as I don't really understand indian musical scales..
@@kaamdev810 yes. All vocalists prefer to sing in a specific scale. For example Manna Dey liked to sing in the scale of D, while Kaushiki Chakraborty likes to sing in the scale of C. Which means for Kaushiki Chakraborty the root note will be C. Of course she will sing in different keys when the song requires that. Now the normal octave (middle octave) is called "mudara", the lower octave is "udara" and the upper octave is "Tara". Most of the Indian Classical Musicians can hit all the notes of these 3 octaves consistently. And there are many of them who can reach beyond these octaves.
@@sagnikpaul1811 you mean they can sing higher than 3 octaves?

In Indain classical music head voice is prohibited. He was using "Aakari" and "Tarana(percussive singing)" singing where the use of Gamaks(use of glide in between notes) and Murkis(cluster of notes) is common . It is quite common in Indian classical music... You have just barely scratched the surface of Indain classical music... Just once listen to Pt. Bhimsen Joshi ji, Pt Jasraj Ji 😊
What is a head voice?🌚

This type of music is called Natya-Sangeet. Very popular in Marathi. Natya means theater and sangeet means music. So, there are theater shows in which actors sings to express or tell the story. Most popular old theater drama movie was "Ekach Pyala" whose Natya-Sangeet was very popular
I always love watching Rick explaining this to Korbin. it clearly shows how much passion and love he has for the performing arts. Love you Rick

Just wait until you see zakir hussain mixing jazz with tabla.
OH! !
You guys are gonna get crazy over that.
The beat here is called teen taal. Taals are the beats for tabla.
I saw somewhere it was written 14 beat rhythm can you explain what is 14 beat ?😬
@@OJESHKUMAR the tabla can be played in various taals there's 3 taal jhap taal ek taal etc
@@OJESHKUMAR the taals are divided by the grouping of the beats, in teen taal the grouping is done as three beats and one empty, so this makes it four beats (one empty) in one vibhaag or group.. While there are many I'm not really sure about the fourteen taal, I'm sure the phrase or that specific taan might have fourteen beats
@@shrutijoshi6677 thanks for explaining 🙏🤩so as you said the taal is divided according to grouping of beats ...that means there can be unlimited number of taals in tablas...but basically you are playing the 3 beat or 4 beat or 5 , 7, 9 beat rhythm right ?
@@OJESHKUMAR of course there can be many, but mostly teen taal, jhap taal, keherva, ek taal, etc are played, there might be something like fourteen taal with some infamous name I don't know yet but teen taal is as you said the most played and the most common one, then comes keherva, jhap taal ek taal etc

Mr. Rick's reaction with closed eyes is the effect this music is meant to have on our minds. Losing ourselves and delving in our Self is the result of the Bhakti or devotion in the song. That artistry is what makes the singer a true wonder.
