Really appreciate whoever recommended it hats off.. and love your guys... You guys are also becoming bridge to connect india to the culture which indians was not aware of... Sometimes I feel this abhang is dedicated partly to Lord Vitthal and partly to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj...I have read detailed history about sambhaji maharaj and he was the king who provided military protection to the "Vaari" all the way from Alandi/Dehu to Pandharpur...Also there is mention of "Purandarcha Parmatma ha" meaning lord of Purandar...Interestingly Sambhaji Maharaj was born on Purandar fort too...So it's just a hunch but I think this abhang is dedicated to Sambhaji Maharaj too- The greatest king Maharashtra had after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj

The Kanada (Unfathomable) king of Pandhari (Pandharpur) Even Vedas couldn’t gauge his bounds. That formless, attributeless, God, how he appeared like this on a brick, keeping both his hands on his waist, The idol of consciousness. He tastes Namya’s kheer (Saint Namdeo’s pudding, Namdev) He herds Chokhoba’s cattle (Saint Chokhamela) He is the supreme soul of Purandar The protector of Damaji (Saint Damaji).

This is a talent show in maharashtra and the song is in marathi. People watched it on their televisions thats why it doesnt have that many views.. regional barriers come in understanding one regions language and audience gets smaller because of that.. he is the best.. wonderful voice ...
This is a devotional song dedicated to the god 'Vitthal' (hence the 'vitthal, vitthal' chants at the end). Vitthal is a much beloved deity whose worship is woven into the fabric of Maharashtrian culture and history. Maybe imagine what St. Patrick is to the Irish, but multiplied many times over. The main temple of Vitthal is in a town called 'Pandharpur' or referred to lovingly as 'Pandhari'. There is a huge pilgrimage every year, known as 'waari' where millions of people walk hundreds of miles to Pandharpur to worship Vitthal. Vitthal (colloquially called 'Vithoba') is thus often called Pandhari cha Raja (the King of Pandhari). 'Kaanadaa' means 'difficult to understand'. So lyrics mean something like 'the king of Pandhari is difficult to understand, even the Vedas (the oldest Hindu scriptures) aren't able to fathom him).
Kanada means vittala from Hampi which is in Karnataka, during the Mughal invesion the idol of villala was shifted from (kanada) Karnataka (vijaya vittala temple Hampi) to the now pandarapura! That is history
I'm an ardent learner of Indian languages and Music. I've learnt 6 other Indian languages other than my mother tongue Tamil. Marathi is one of them. As I've been learning Carnatic and Hindustani, I could tell for sure: Marathi Abhangs totally transcend me to another level of devotion towards Lord Vithoba. The words, the ragas, everything with abhang is juz sooo devotionally surrendering to the Lord... You always get that feeling in abhang. Divine bliss. People watching this channel, listen to Yog Yag vidhi by Rahul Vellal and other abhangs by Ranjani Gayatri
"Kanada Raja Pandharicha " translates to "The Canarese /Kannada king of Pandharpur " . The title is reserved for Lord Vitthal / Panduranga who is essentially Krishna. His great shrine was at Hampi in Karnataka but the deity was shifted when the 5 Bahamani Sultans of the Deccan attacked the empire of Vijayanagara and killed the king Aliya Ramaraya in the battle. That ensued a destruction of the city and desecration of Hindu temples around. Therefore, the deity was smuggled out just in time and He finally ended up in Pandharpur of Maharashtra
What nonsence Maharashtra Brahmans told us another story of pundalik clay block(vit ) which stand for vittal All Hindu Dharma is stand on false stories
your story is incorrect . The deity was taken to Hampi after Yaadava Kingdom collapsed in Maharashtra and it came under Muslim rule . Afterwards , during the reign of Shri Krishnadevaraya , Bhanudas Maharaj took the deity back to Pandharpur with his devotion . The deity was already at Pandharpur even before the Yadava period. The inscriptions clearly stste the patronages provided to the temple by prominent people like Samrat Mahadevaraya Yadava , Dwaravatipuravaradhish Samrat Ramchandraraya Yadav , Kaaranaadhipati Hemadri Pandit etc . Even the old temple before renovation was built `in a unique style called Hemadpanti Architecture (named after Hemadri Pandit)
I am proud that I am from the same city as Mahesh Kale - Pune. This falls under the ‘bhajan’ or ‘abhang’ genre. This is a centuries old abhang sung in praise of Lord Vithhal - the deity of one of the very famous temples in Pandharpur, Maharashtra. This is very famous with the ‘Waarkari’ people of Maharashtra. This and many such bhajans/abhang are sung EVERYDAY in the temples of remote villages of Maharashtra, especially by Waarkaris. Waarkaris are mostly farmers. You can imagine, farmers after a long day toil in their farms, going home after sunset, taking a bath and then going to the village temple and singing these bhajans/abhangs together to praise their deity. This also keeps them away from indulging into other sinful, wasteful activities like boozing, etc. Most waarkaris and pure vegetarians and they don’t drink as well. Maharashtra has a rich tradition of this all over. This particular abhang has been sung umpteen number of times many times by stalwarts like Pandit Bhimsen Joshi and many others. In fact, I have seen Mahesh Kale and Rahul Deshpande jamming on this abhang, live on an event call ‘Diwali Pahaat’ in Pune. Diwali Pahaat literally means the early morning of Diwali. It is an annual event held on the first day of Diwali. You can find that video as well on UA-cam - that’s even more mesmerising.
You are reacting the real INDIAN thing. Unlike others who react to only Bollywood and thinks they experienced indian cultural. You are the guys watching pure Indian cultural things.... Keep it up brothers❤️😍😍
In Indian culture you can unite with the supreme through “Nada Brahaman” literally meaning reaching supreme via music & chanting. That’s what he was doing. He carried his audience along with him to experience “Nada Brahaman” It’s called divine experience. He was singing Rag Malkauns. Initially he started with alaapi & then he sang Bhajan for lord Vithala & after that it’s called Gajar. Gajar means chanting lord Vithala’s name in musical way. The bhajan is in Language Marathi. This is one of Mahesh’s best performance out of many such brilliant performances.
There is a story that " the vittala murthy(statue) is moved from hampi-vijaynagar dynasty to pandarapur during the attack on vijaynagar dynasty... And there is mention "kanada raja pandaricha" means 'kannada raja pandari'.. And also there is a mention of "purandara dasa' as "purandarachi haa paramatma" as he was a great Saint and daity of vittal #krishna...
without undermining Mahesh's performance, what he did was fraction of what Mahesh himself and many other maestros are capable of. Indian audience are seasoned to such mastery and you will find people who must have critically analyzed Mahesh.
Completely agree with you. He's great. There are many other stalwarts as well as contemporary Hindustani classical music artists as good, if not better. Shri Omkarnarh Havaldar of the kirana gharana is one such lesser known but absolutely fantastic musician. I heard him perform at Sawai Gandhrava 2019. What a musician! His Multani was scintillating as was his mazhe maaher pandhari. Exceptionally talented.

It's a spiritual anthem in Maharashtra and trust me When Corbin and Rick started singing along Vithhal Vithhal.. Mahesh Kale succeeded to convey the feelings in Best possible way in the world what Vithhal means to us
You have no idea what great service you’re doing to Indians. Because of your Chanel I heard this divine voice. Lord Vittal is the reigning deity of Pandarapur which is in my neighbouring state Maharashtra. I have heard this song before but blessed to hear this amazing performance by Mahesh Kale. Thank you so much.
I'm glad that Rick said 'unfathomable' ...because in Marathi 'Kanada' means unfathomable....'kanada raja pandharicha ' means the 'unfathomable emperor of pandharpur' which essentially means the lord vitthal ..he is an incarnation of lord vishnu and is worshipped as the protector of people and farmers..
Lord vitthal was also considered non discriminatory and treated people of all classes and castes as equal...he was one of the favorite dieties worshipped during the 7th century bhakti movement..that focused on the decentralization of religious power from upper caste Brahmins....vitthal was worshipped by everyone including upper classes as well as people belonging to supposedly lower classes...they did not need a brahmin to interpret the Vedas ( religious scriptures) to understand vitthal..they connected directly with him on a spiritual level....
I am so happy you guys reacted to this! This is the real talent, unfortunately not shown in mainstream bollywood nowadays in pursuit of western influence. This is real Indian music.
He is from my Engg college...was working in the US for many years. This song form is called "Abhang" - a form of Devotional songs, very meaningful lyrics written by great Marathi saints from 15th and 16th century. This singer is very good...but far from the best...believe me! If you dive deep in Marathi music you'll agree with me.
* I was introduced to classical music by your reaction to Kaushiki Chakraborthy's amazing performance of Bhimpalasi. And for that I can never be grateful enough. I sometimes come back to watch their reaction to it rather than listening to the original video, just for kicks. * The lyrics in this performance is taken from the Marathi poem Kanada Raja Pandaricha written by G.D. Madgulkar. The title translates to "The King of Padharpur, whose origin is from the land of Kanada (Kannada)". This is because the idol of Lord Vitthal of Pandharpur is believed to have originated from the Vijayanagara empire, now Karnataka. * Vitthal is an incarnation of Lord Krishna. The story behind the Lord acquiring this alias is that once He went to visit one of His devotees, Pundalik, as a test to his devotion towards his parents. Pundalik gave a brick (Veeta in Marathi) for the Lord to stand on while He waits for Pundalik to finish his duties towards his parents. Seeing his steadfast devotion towards his parents Lord Krishna granted a boon to Pundalik which is the cause of the creation of Lord Vitthala, the One who Stands/Stood on a Brick. * In most of the classical/semi-classical music, be it either Hindustani or Carnatic, the full poem seems to be rarely sung. And instead portions of it are sung and resung again to fit the various rhythms and flows of the raga. Which also means two performances of the same poem can have completely different feel to them. And because of the missing lyrics, seem like different poems all together. Not to mention the complications brought about by minor differences in the lyrics themselves, and add to that differences in pronunciation. * You have already reacted to Mahesh Kale and Kaushiki Chakraborthy's duet performance of the same poem. It could prove a useful point of comparison: ua-cam.com/video/f-5p7s7ws5k/v-deo.html&ab_channel=OURSTUPIDREACTIONS * Songs sung in praise of Lord Vitthal are typically of the style, Abhang. Abhang means "without end", which is quite well seen in the repetitive chant of the Lord's name, Vitthal towards the end of the performance. The chant is intended to induce a trance where all sense of time is lost and only Vitthal remains in your thoughts. * It was heart warming to see you participate in the chant at the end, and I say this as an atheist. The purpose of this type of music is to feel entranced and that induces happiness in both the singer and the listener. It doesn't matter if the content is devotional be it Hindu, Christian, Muslim, Pagan or any other. * I keep thinking, "why do I like OSR better than other reaction channels", and today I have a part of the answer. You guys don't just react, you participate. Keep up the energy.
And he was told to sing a song, just like that, for timepass. So when you see him sing, for actual, like concerts and where it does matter, that dude is sickkk 🔥
@@buwakedari79 Aree, doesnt matter if he was told to or not to, what I meant is if he sings likee thisss legit in a show for only few minutes, then imagine him singing like for a whole concertt.

We are going with someone footsteps... And end of the day we get you are this you are that no one says your Indian.. Alhamdulillah i am Indian
If you see he was repeating lines again and again in the song with different modulations.. It is a concept in Indian Classical Music called as "Kalpanaswaram" which means improvising on a Raaga .. Many Indian classical singers do it during live shows .. sometimes to match the proper frequency on notes of the Raaga and instruments and sometimes to do variations and experiment..

The Kanada (Unfathomable) king of Pandhari (Pandharpur)
Even Vedas couldn’t gauge his bounds.
That formless, attributeless, God,

The idol of consciousness.

Kanada is kannada launguage see history
@@shashankbv3366 no. The old Marathi word Kanada is different from the language Kannada

Therefore, the deity was smuggled out just in time and He finally ended up in Pandharpur of Maharashtra
ua-cam.com/video/khiA11ERDn4/v-deo.html
What nonsence
Maharashtra Brahmans told us another story of pundalik clay block(vit ) which stand for vittal
All Hindu Dharma is stand on false stories
@@ॐनमशिवाय-ज1ढ That can happen even in Hampi
Thanks for explaining the history.
your story is incorrect .

In Indian culture you can unite with the supreme through “Nada Brahaman” literally meaning reaching supreme via music & chanting. That’s what he was doing. He carried his audience along with him to experience “Nada Brahaman”
It’s called divine experience.
He was singing Rag Malkauns. Initially he started with alaapi & then he sang Bhajan for lord Vithala & after that it’s called Gajar. Gajar means chanting lord Vithala’s name in musical way. The bhajan is in Language Marathi.
This is one of Mahesh’s best performance out of many such brilliant performances.
ua-cam.com/video/khiA11ERDn4/v-deo.html
My god, never saw someone perform like that🙄🔥🔥🔥 this is more than mastery in his field.....got a vibe of om nama shivaay from krishna das😅

बर

This is a Marathi devotional song of God Vitthal.Kanada Raja Pandharicha means,God Vitthal is from kannada.😊
Yes, Lord panduranga family's grandparents moved from karnataka to maharashtra many years ago, thats what history says. Kannada Raja Pandhari cha 🥰
सातासमुद्रापार नेला महेश सर तुम्ही अभंग. खूपच छान 😍 nice reaction !
It could prove a useful point of comparison: ua-cam.com/video/f-5p7s7ws5k/v-deo.html&ab_channel=OURSTUPIDREACTIONS
* Songs sung in praise of Lord Vitthal are typically of the style, Abhang.
Finally someone is telling so much details rick and korbin need to know well done buddy
