I had the privilege of meeting Pandit ji in person. So humble and down to earth. A concert ended at 2.30AM but the people were so mesmerized that nobody got up from their seats. After 5 mins he asked organizers to start again and it went on till 4AM. Literally the divine experience..
One of the first classical music performances I ever saw was Pandit Shivkumar Sharma performing with Ustad Alla Rakha (Zakir Hussain's father) when I was about 7 years old... And even then I was astounded by the musicianship on display. Pt Shivkumar Sharma was indeed a legend. May his soul rest in peace.
Wow! What a magical performance by Hussain Sahab and Panditji. The fusion was mesmerizing. I was swept away in a trance by the beauty of the music that emerged from their instruments. Keep reacting to such videos OSR, classical music is such a treasure of peace and love. Mind Blowing.
Ustad Zahir Hussain & pt.shivkumar are the highest respected leaders in their instrument playing! We adore them! I have something new for you to listen ! A younger generation singer from renowned family, performing in a TV reality show! Linc search as~ "Indian Idol season 13 ! Navdeep wadali- yaad piya ki aaye !" Mind blowing Performance of less than 6 minutes ! Must watch Indian music vocal miracles for sure
When the masters of this caliber perform together, they transcend the worldly atmosphere to a much higher level. These masters also take the audience to that level. It starts in a slow tempo and gradually it rises to a level one looses the sense of time, place and everything. You don’t want it to end and when it does, it leaves you with an indescribable feeling.
Pandit Shivakumar Sharma was part of the duo Shiv-Hari, who scored music for many Hindi films, including Darr, which Korbin you have watched and loved the songs.
That ending part is called chakadar... 3 cycles of 9 patterns each 3 times! (1) 3 cycles (then 9 times) (2) 3 cycles (9 times) (3) 3 cycles (9 times) and the patterns do varies as you from 1-3
Thats how musical minds talk to each other in trance state. This one was very very emotional to watch. Rick's face towards the end of the clip is exactly the kind of mood this scale (Raaga Keervaani) invokes. Maestros like them can effortlessly take you into that realm... Have always been a fan of this clip and really loved the reaction too guys. Thanks!
I have seen them perform together a few times and every time I have seen Zakir ji carrying pandit ji's bag. That tells you everything about them . Respect and Reverence.
I have been witness to this heaven twice, in my life! Once in April 1997, at Ravindranath Theatre Indore, and second time, at Shanmukhananda Hall, Mumbai and both times, it was pure heaven. These two stalwarts have their souls entwined with the raga on the play...oh God. It's always beyond words. Every times, whenever these two artists performed, Ustad Zakir Husaain would bow down and touch Pandit ji's feet, at the end and seek his blessings. How humble, how venerable. Their performance always carried the purity of a prayer!! We have lost one of these legends! May God bless the soul of Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma's soul to eternity!
Been a long while since I heard Santoor, but it was DIVINE to hear it again. Always loved hearing both the instruments since childhood... but the Santoor variations felt like they were calling to someone. Pulling you as well as calling a higher power to come down to it.
If I am guessing right, this Grand Musical concert is probably the one held at Palace ground, Bangalore I think in 2009 or may be in 2010. I am among one of those fortunate attended this Master Class performance live. Thanks for reminding again.

The list is endless. The point i wanted to make is you have only experience a droplet of India's Ocean of legends. There is plenty more..... Each better than the other
This performance is during the annual Sawai Gandharva Mahotsav held in Pune in memory of Guru of Pandit Bhimsen Joshi. I had the privilege of attending this performance and it’s memory that I cherish for life.
Simply great..Please note both instruments are governed by complex rules of Hindustani music. Just imagine they are perfectly following them at such an incredible speed of performance. Miraculous indeed.
Thanks for reacting to videos like these!! They are the true representations of our culture. That’s why we love you guys!! And that’s why you will always be the best reaction channel in my eyes :)
I had the honor of meeting Panditji as well. What a man. Such a giant in his work, life and achievements, yet he was so kind, attentive and welcoming to a nobody like me. Please do more classical music reactions!
Your reaction is genuine. I just want to say their talent is their commitment to the essence of what ancient Indian legends like rishis and pandits revealed by their devotion to sanatan science that become world heritage to the eyes of those who has what it takes to sense the emensity of the Indian art.
I attended a concert in Mumbai with Shiv-ji and Zakir sahab - and it was Shiv-ji's 74th birthday that day! And he lovingly said, I am only 47, not 74! And they created magic that day too. In fact, every time I watched them live - they have the ability to get you transfixed and transported at the same time. It is rare to be in the moment and to be sent to a different world, and these masters can do that. Keep playing those strings from up there Shiv-ji!! "Water" is the first album that introduced me to your work, and since then I have been a follower!

Silsila movie music by Pandit ji and flute maestro Hari Prasad Chaurasia ji.... he was nothing less than Lata ji for India.....you have seen his son' Rahul Sharma performance earlier.... Santoor music comes from mountains, Kashmir and soul of the instrument is completely of high lands...

Incredible legendary performance👏👏👏👏👏👏 and the power of Raga and Indian classical music makes it a sheer magic if performed like this 👏👏👏👏👏
No substance can match the intoxication that Indian classical music in its full glory can provide... Just freakin divine these two maestros. I would love to point out that every time we use words like 'talent' without using words like 'hardship' ... We do a disservice to the legends. Talent alone is of no significance here. Ustad ji in his younger days would lock himself in a room... light a long candle and play all kinds of stuff until it burnt out. This was a daily routine. That's not practice.. that's worship of the highest order.
Thanks Korbin and Rick for this reaction. I had not seen this performance yet. Korbin explained the experience so accurately - the feeling of visiting a museum or a pyramid.
