I don't know why but for some reason that shot of Lissy Doll floating through the windstorm to reach Matilda always makes me emotional. Aside from how beautifully shot that scene is, I think maybe it might also be the symbolic gesture of it: Matilda claiming Lissy Doll is basically her rescuing and restoring Miss Honey's damaged childhood.
I could see that now, Lissy being stuck and untouched at her house symbolizes her being neglected and hated the same way how Trunchbull treated her niece (Miss Honey) and now Matilda decided to heal part of her teachers childhood.

The way Pam Ferris commits to the Trunchbull adds so much to this movie. She gives everything to both the scenes where she is terrifying and the scenes she is terrified. All of it goes to show what the Trunchbull really is, a bully. She abuses & terrorizes the children because it's so easy to do and she never has to worry about any of them fighting back. But when it comes to the supernatural, Agatha Trunchbull is truly afraid. Because she can't punch it, can't throw it in a chokey, can't hammer toss, javelin throw, or shotput it. They expose her for what she truly is, scared & helpless. If she didn't go so hard for all her scenes tormenting the children, we might feel bad for her, but this is what she deserves.
Always gives me chills to this day when the painting of Magnus swoops down, hangs on the wall and gives Agatha the cold vengeful stare. As if he knows what she had done to him, his daughter and all the kids at the school
She made it like Magnus spirit has come back to haunt her. Always gives me chills when his portrait flys down the stairs and makes that loud thunder noise on the wall, accompanied by his acylic eyes glaring at his killer.

Basically in the story miss truunchbull is miss honeys aunt and her mother died and then her father died suddenly Which is Magnus . Miss trunchbull supposedly killed Magnus but made out he committed suicide it says in the book
Sometimes I wonder if Trunchbull suffered some childhood trauma or bullying to become a villain. That must be why she hates children, as she says: *"Glad I never was one".*
I’m going to say yes because given the number of times she’s thrown the javelin into the wall tells me she practiced so much til she got it right. She probably showed talent and strength at a young age that her parents drove her to practice excessively in order to compete in the Olympics.
Her parents never loved her as a child. They neglected her, so in her mind she now views children as worthless and disgusting. Now the disgusting part actually could be because..yeah possibly abused... she wants children to suffer because she suffered. She hates them because she felt hated by her own parents! as a child. Just a theory. Someone who suffered through abuse and unloved by their own parents could become a monster with no empathy for anyone etc
This could be one of the first scary magical attacks on Trunchbull. Once she fled Crunchem Hall, she'd suffer another similar attack, this time from The Boy Who Lived.
I don't remember this from the book. however it does somewhat resemble the time Matilda was punishing her parents by borrowing a parrot who could do a ghost voice perfectly, from a friend and stuffed it in the chimney at her place. I like how they missed one detail in 1:48-1:53. How Miss Trunchbull elegantly (or correctly) holds a tea cup. She’s labelled throughout the story as masculine, speaking in profanity and almost having no hint of grace and softness.
I think this might be as a result of her growing fear. She might be regressing to the ways and mannerisms she was taught as a child to cope with the terrifying events that are taking place around her at that moment

I'm confused if the autopsy said that Magnus committed suicide, then what did Trunchbull do otherwise?
@@rawansinger77
Miss Trunchbull probably poisoned him.
MAGNUS! She know what she did and she knows she fucked up, that's why she thought he came back to haunt her.
The cute doll says
"HUG ME"
Pam Ferris is nothing like Miss Trunchbull whatsoever is real life guys she is a really lovely softly spoken lady who’s done charity work with disabled children called Princess Royal Anne Trust for Carers ! And they all had right laugh together making this move together the kids involved and the adults who were nasty and mean in the film because off camera the kids knew it was all pretend! Lol
She played Aunt Marge in Prisoner of Azkaban too.
Really? I had no idea...!
3:20 I have replayed so many times because it sounds and looks so dramatic and heroic!
"Magnus 😟😨😭"
Trunchbull is going to regret for assault the kids and putting them the chokey she's going straight to hell and now matilda to make her pay!!
Chill! Bruh.
@@thealterist9762 man trunchbull is a villian.
@@leonardpayne8795 of course she is just ease on the comments section.
I bet the Ghost Rider will give her the penance stare and literally scare the living hell out of her.
"This is Magnus!"
3:23 "Magnus!"
Magnus was apparently the only person Trunchbull ever feared
I'd protect her big sexy butt
This scene is so entertaining
She really has turned it into a Haunted House
3:40 - The sound of Trunchbull whimpering along with her facial expressions 😅😅😅. She really deserved to be haunted.
My poor big cutie I'd protect her
I like when miss trunchbull gets haunted 😆
This is by far the coolest scene in this movie. I agree with you!
Yeah, because you can tell that she's starting to meet her downfall. After being so scary, she's now becoming scared herself.
she had to have killed him there is no way he would have killed himself
"Now do you believe in ghosts?"
😄!
Patrick Swayze. Ghost.
(1990).
This part seriously scared me as a kid Lol
This was the funniest part of the film
"LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!" 😂😂😂
Peedi Piper Pam Ferris who plays Miss Trunchbull is nothing like her whatsoever! She is in reality such a lovely , kind softly spoken woman who has done charity work for children who’s parents are disabled and the children are their careers , so she is the complete opposite of Miss Trunchbull in the real world!
@@oc888 Shows she's a good actress she done a good job playing a nasty person. Pam Ferris also played Aunt Marge in Harry Potter
I love the nod to Jurassic Park they make at 1:27.
Matilda has given Miss Trunchbull a 3-part punishment in one day for throwing her in the Chokey. She's thrown a newt in her water glass, snuck into her house without being noticed, and posed as Magnus's ghost to haunt her. Pretty soon she and the whole school with be throwing their lunches at her.
I like how the kids drove Trunchbull out of Cruncham Hall Elementary School
if Matilda was a character on Legend of Korra or the Last Airbender she would probably be a Blood Bender with her Eyes like Yakone and Noatak.
2:47 “LEAVE ME ALONE!”
Poor thing I'd protect her
Pam Ferris is nothing at all like Miss Trunchbull! She is a really nice lovely lady in real life ask Mara Wilson ( Matilda) & all the other child actors / actresses involved in this film! 😃😀
"THIS IS MAGNUS!"
3:23 "Magnus!"
3:40 - 3:57 That feeling when your mum forces you to wake up early for school every morning and realize you are running late
This was an awesome scene, next to Ms.Trunchbull’s chase out of the school.
I’ve often wondered how she sussed that it was Matilda who was behind all the magic that went on in her house just by noticing the red hair ribbon that Matilda wore!? I mean I know that it must’ve been because she tell by the sense of smell on it, since she smelt it and then smiled, but I still wonder how she guessed straight away that it was her who was doing it all along! I wonder if it’s because she saw Matilda wearing it sometime before this scene, since she said to the class the next day, after this: “who was wearing a pretty red hair ribbon yesterday? And isn’t wearing one today? Can you answer me that?”
@@georgemiddleton8898 well Maybe Harry Potter blew her up she floated into Matilda's reality
@@Fionabejeweled2001 well, she appeared in Harry Potter 8 years after Matilda, so it would actually be the other way around (being blown up by Matilda, then floating into Harry’s reality! Lol). A friend of mine recently said, that it was a bit of a lucky guess when it came to Matilda’s hair ribbon…also it’s sort of suggested that she is the only girl in the school who wears one. Plus, Trunchbull might’ve just been looking for any excuse to terrorize her. Lol.
This is a sad story, but when I was little my mam would abuse me and I was neglected. She looked exactly like miss trunchable. Except my mam was an alcoholic . I got took away by social services and put in a care home in the end . But every time I see miss trunchable I get a horrible feeling in my belly and a feeling of absolute terror.
