Hi everyone! What grade (out of 10) would you give this video?
10/10 because she’s real smart

I love the fact that Danny and his wife took care of Mara while they were making the movie
Yeah because of Mara’s mom dying
@@josephcrawford7922 I'm sure her mother appreciated them doing that!
@@zarachastellaris9016 She did
They have hearts of gold
They adopted her after her mother passed away.
What do you think her mother would have done, if she came back in the house and saw Matilda fixing pancakes? LMAO
At best she'd probably accuse her of trying to burn the house down, but since she was seen later fixing other meals in the movie around, them odds are they put her to work ala Harry Potter.
She’s flip out
Probably chase her out of the kitchen in case she burned the house down.
Totally
Probably would not be surprised 😂
This movie is so beautiful. My childhood revolves around this movie 🥺😭
me too! it's amazing
Oh sorry you
Realistic if people saw a child that small walking around by themselves they would freak out 😂😂😂.Cute kid though.
Consider the two things... the time period this came out... which I think was the 90s. And when Dahl wrote and published it.
I think a kid walking out on their own was rather normal then or at the very least others may've assumed her parents were nearby.
I grew up in the hood in the 90s. You weren't aloud past a couple houses down the road alone
@@Adv18yea more people suck now lol it’s truly a messed up world we are dealing with unfortunately
@oooh19 I don't really think it's that more people suck as much as people don't "mind their own business" for good and for bad. Crime and abuse still happened. It just wasn't talked about as much unless it was HUGE news in big cities. Like Sylvia Likens's case. A lot of times abuse cases or stuff like that was seen as you being disrespectful or trying to be rude to family.
I did it as a kid and no one said anything to me lol. This was the 90s
Matilda knew what most of us wouldn't know til years later. Any movies or TV shows based on books leave out a lot of scenes &/or minor characters
Like in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone when they left out the bits where Harry is actually training to be a seeker instead of just familiarising himself with the balls used In quidditch.
The movie did a good job overall, but
Spoiler alert…
…..
….
……
they messed it up at the end when she still had powers… the whole point of the book was that was her intelligence needing an outlet was the cause of those powers..when she was in advanced classes she didn’t have the powers anymore.
Its😢a different medium and always have to cut book content for run time
Emotional Neglect, everyone responds to it differently sometimes people idealize new relationships in hopes of receiving the love they never received from their parents. Others become closed off scared to let people in. Childhood trauma runs deep.
Exactly, I was neglected as a child and today I can't stand being around people, I don't see myself getting married or any of those "normal" things, even those I'd like to have children.
@@wits3392Depressingly relatable 😢
I guess Matilda responded by...developing telekinesis
I had my first library card when I was five and my mom took me to the library. It was her best gift to me. I never stopped going to our local library here in the Philippines but it got washed out by the storm surge from Supertyphoon Haiyan. It never got rebuilt.
Aw man, that sucks.
“ You’re better off raising tomatoes “ 😂😂😂😂
Said the same woman who put her baby in a sink to be cleaned but then left tap running in the wrong sink.😂
@@TMDTheMaskDirector-ye5oe LMFAO ITS SUCH A CLASSIC MOVIE HONESTLY 😂
@@LeoLullaby Yeah, who knew Danny Devito was such a good antagonist and narrator all in the same movie?
By the time she was 2 Matilda had learned what most people learn in their early 30s how to take care of herself
Matilda's father doesn't understand that there's more to life then just television.
Exactly
I always take my Grandson to the library..We love it there
Why have I watched this film so many times, and only just noticed that when her mom puts her in the sink at 0:15, there is a container that clearly reads POISON within reaching distance of the child😶😶. If Matilda were anyone else...she would not have survived 😅
And her parents would be in jail for neglect, plus several more years since that would allow the FBI to openly investigate Harry's business
I didn't see that!! COME ON, ZINNIA!!!! 😡
Matilda's parents(her mom mostly), does love her for sure, she just is too lazy to care about her (if that made sense xD). Loved this movie though
When she won at Bingo she took them to a fancy dinner. She never insults or physically harms her either. It doesn't seem Matilda holds a grudge against her either, after all she gave Matilda room (granted, plenty of room) for her to develop on her own. And in the End, she understood Ms. Honey could give Matilda the kind of life her daughter truly wanted. She was more like a cloud cucko lander than evil.
I completely agree. Her mom is definitely caring, in her way. I loved when she agreed to let ms.honey adopt matilda. She obviously wants whats best for her.@@danelwind2574
I don't see both parents as evil . Selfish , lazy , inconsiderate, insensitive. Matilda wasn't abused , but emotionally neglected , and treated like nuisance .
Those parents should be in jail
this movie is pure childhood memories
The good characters in this movie like Ms Honey and the librarian filled me with so much hope for the world.
Atleast not all grownups in this movie are bad people.
In the book, Matilda told the librarian that she was being neglected and the librarian decided not to get involved because she felt it was none of her business.
Probably for the best considering the foster care system is rampant with abuse and should only be a last resort.
Mrs Phelps was like the grandmother Matilda never had.
Nostalgic childhood show
0:17 “Babies your better off raising tomatoes” 😂😂😂
Lol!!!
By the time she was 2 Matilda had learned what most people learn in their own 30s how to take care of herself
This is clearly the oppsite of matilda's life her parents our literally like kids but matilda is like a grownup already
Matilda's mother sounds like Lois Griffin.
Yes but less annoying then lois
Aaahhh yes ofcourse! I used to keep thinking where have i heard that voice before!!!
My comfort movie to this day 💖
I don’t know what’s more amazing: The relatability of Matilda mastering the art of independence at 2, which I can tell from personal experience is not exactly something you earn a black belt in until you reach your early 30s, or the poetic hilarity of Danny DeVito playing both the holy narrator and the totally unholy junker car dealer
I guess it just shows to go how important it is to have an appreciation for the classics
Matilda’s parents should have hired a babysitter
Yeah, "but it's to much money" in matildas parents eyes
Bro didn't understand the movie i see
What they were doing is obviously illegal, yes. But them being abusive is literally the point of their characters
Her father is a cheapskate
uh noo
There’s a new Matilda now, but I like this one better. It’s much better than the new one.
Rhea perlman is a great actress
And a very forgettable one to put it that way.
Definitely. So is Danny Devito
Omg this makes me so nostalgic and so emotional
I wonder where that library scene at the end was filmed? Beautiful building.
Most of the interior shots were filmed at the University of California’s Doheny Memorial Library as well as the Pasadena Public Library in California. 😊
It would’ve been very hard for mara when her mother died it affected her career life can be very unfair at times. But at least Danny Devito and his wife took care of mara and supported her that was nice of them to do that.
Watching matilda with my boyfriend helped me learn about his hyperlexia. Which I haven't even heard about before, I'm the opposite dyslexic. We both understand each other on a deep nerodiverse level.
How incredible, making up stuff you just said Trying to tell a lie at the same time cover it over mentioning hyperlexia.
That is so sweet. I am also dyslexic too and I’m glad that both you and your boyfriend understand each other better:3

“Babies! You’re better off raising tomatoes.”
Her small voice too funny 🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favourite film in the world. Literally so good!!! This reminds me of my mum when she’d go to the pub😂
I’d love a little girl like her!
Me too
Who wouldn’t?
I love this movie. I’ve watched it when like Matilda goes to the children library she laughs like a child and it’s so nice for someone to like her like that.
I love movies about peculiar children, I wanna watch this movie ^_^
Such a cute child.
2:45 that score by David Newman ♥️, the nostalgia is real
I love this movie
Who doesn’t?
Matilda was born into a parents who didn't appreciated...She was different from the others, she likes to read books, learn magic and also an intelligent young girl
I really really liked Matilda 🌼🌺
Somewhere I can resonates myself with her
A girl needs to be a all rounder by herself, 🌼🌺
She alone is more than enough for her family and her own self🌼🌺
She doesn't need anyone's permission, approval, or denial
When she needs something
Or wants to do something
She will do it anyway 😇👼🌼🌺
This is what inspires me
Because of what is so good to know
Lol she knew how to cook
When i first saw this i thought the book she was going to choose was the dictionary 😂 LOL
I feel like Matilda's mother did love her but just felt like she had more important things to do also the video is really good ❤
Nostalgic I watch this when I was like 6
“Matilda now look what you did! You’re supposed to eat this spinach!” Well what do you expect her to do? Feed herself?
I would rate this video the classic movie Matilda 100 percent
Poor Matilda, her parents are not very nice and being such lazy jerks and her big brother is totally a bully at her.
Yeah and it's why she wanted to stay with Miss Honey at the end of the movie.
I don’t why didn’t they just send her in an orphanage if they don’t like her 🤷♂️. But atleast they fed her even though they are terrible people who didn’t give love to her
@@juanchoresultay2704 Well, at the end of the movie, other people think that they love her and think it was a beautiful scene as they signed the adoption papers and drove off to Spain.
@@chelseathecreativeFox They drove off the Guam btw but yeah they agreed adoption to ms honey
@@juanchoresultay2704 didn’t they adopt her originally though? What we’re they gonna do go “hey we dont want this baby can we return it?”
Actually they probably would have now that I think about it.
Now I have to find this movie on VHS and watch it. VCR!
She could make pancakes when she was 4!
Probably read a recipe book
I love Danny Devito and Rhea Perlman.
Ngl i would HATE to piss her off and have her kick my shins. Girl walks 10 blocks every single day she could put me on the ground faster than i can say "uh oh"
I love this movie❤
Aside from TATMR, this movie was my favorite movie starring Mara Wilson, and Danny Devito.
Same here.
Matilda makes pancakes for breakfast while her brother goes to school and her parents
went of to work: Her father, Harry went to sell cars for low or unfair prizes and her mother took of to play in Bingo game
The actress who plays Mrs Phelps is the mother of actors Ron and Clint Howard
Matilda is a kind girl
I love your videos
❤
When Matilda was a little baby girl she wrote her name on the counter with spinach. She's all dirty and mess all over.
This is such a good movie.
*"Her father went to work, selling used cars, for unfair prices."* Isn't that what all used car salesmen do?
That’s a pretty negative stereotype, even if it’s true, in this case.
Another FAV ❤
Its a shame we did not see more of Mrs. Phellps in the movie. In the book if I rember correctly she played a bigger part but even thow we only see her in the movie fora short bit you can see the impact she made on Matilda and the sceans are very touching.
She’s so developed and intelligent for her age.
"There's nothing tht you get from a book that you cant get from a television faster" Literally every tv adaptation from books would disagree to some extent
Such a good movie 🍿🎥❤
Обожаю этот фильм, спасибо, что напомнили❤
Lovekins, where did the pancake batter in the refrigerator come from? Oh my Heart Strings, Matilda made it, of course!
Matilda’s making herself breakfast
Anyone else here cus of the Matilda reunion?
Man the last time I watched this was the 90s 🤣🤗
Movie really roasted all people before 30 and after 2 years old.
I feel like this is Family Guy if Stevie was a girl and kind and Meg didn’t exist
I never thought of it that way
I have this dvd
When i as a child i Always get a ever homework
The mother played Barbara at Barbie, how time flies..

It’s the British term for fish sticks. Basically battered and fried strips of fish. Kinda like chicken strips.
