I have brought a lush shampoo bar yesterday and wow it does make a difference to my hair. I got honey I washed my hair and it smells amazing I am in love with it. I have quite dry hair and recently discovered the shampoo bars from lush so I decided to try and it works a dream. The only issue is that with this bar the fragrance won't last if you smother your hair with conditioner (I didn't use a lush one) but I would highly recommend this bar or any other shampoo bar to anyone who is thinking to switch
Thank u for the tip with the soap saver. I just bought my first shampoo bar I got Jason and the argan oil and I was surprised how well it washed my hair.
I’ve used a shampoo bar from lush ( it’s yellow I forgot what it’s called) and I’ve found that it lathers SOOO well. I was skeptical at first but now I love it :)
I have just started my experience of using LUSH shampoo bar yesterday. It’s amazing!!!! I don’t know how to say it. I really like the feeling. Very fresh, very clean and moisturising. And the last but not least, it’s environmental friendly. No plastic. No animal testing Highly recommended 👍🏽
I love my Honey I've washed my hair shampoo bar. I've tried their solid conditioners which I'm not that fond of, but I still highly recommend the shampoo. I actually used up all my bar and had to use my mum's shampoo for a while and my hair started getting really dry again. It's not just good as a product with less waste but it is actually a really good shampoo.
Thanks for this informative video! I've always wanted to try Lush's shampoo bars but figured they wouldn't last long enough for them to be an economical purchase. I recently purchased a knockoff bar at Walmart just to try it out but I'll def be buying a Lush bar after this one runs out. Thanks!
That's awesome! I'm glad this video helped! Yeah, it took me awhile to find Lush's shampoo bar. I tried some I found on etsy first and they kept clumping my hair or made it more oily, so I'm glad I found the Lush bar too!
I bought honey I washed my hair and LOVED it until it started to melt in the shower :( I must not have been letting it dry out enough! I'm gonna try one of those soap savers and see what happens because I love what it did to my hair! Thanks for the tips!
I went through two and still have three in use, I found out about lush 4 years ago. I only use these bars as my source of shampoo and I can guess a bar will last almost a year if you have short hair and dry it properly. I just balance it on the side of a lush pot lid. I don’t loose any bar product while it dries but I heard stories of people melting it with water, making it last a week because they don’t dry it proper.
These bars are cool I really want to try one, it has a bunch of oils and awesome ingredients for you, however they do add one chemical ingredient to it that we have in our regular shampoos that make it lather up
Yeah, you're talking about the Sodium Lauryl Sulfate right? To get that lather! I actually used homemade shampoo bars from etsy that didn't contain that ingredient before switching to Lush shampoo bars. The problem with the handmade ones were that they didn't lather up and didn't wash out of my hair easily. I kept feeling this weird residue. I'm definitely open to a shampoo bar that doesn't have that chemical in it and still gives me that shine. I guess I'm still on the hunt!
They say that you should use an apple cider vinegar rinse after using the bars that don't have the SLS (they are typically cold pressed soaps). I haven't tried this yet but I plan on using it with my chargin shampoo bars
Hi! I just found your channel through searching for this video! You've gave me the information I was looking for that no other video has! I'm trying to slowly switch over from plastic to reusable items or items that don't NEED plastic bottles. I didn't know they had the conditioner, I'm definitely going to pick up a few for my boyfriend and I! LOVE your video!
Veronica Easom Aw thanks! Im glad I could help out! Any way to reduce plastic usage is a step in the right direction for all of us. Even switching to a shampoo bar is going to make a huge impact! I’m so excited for you and I hope you like the bar. I just got a new one, the lemon one and it’s been working great. Also I still have the same conditioner bar from when I posted this video so they last a really long time!
Hi Jyna, I'm trying a sample of Soak and Float now, and it seems to not get all the oil out. Two uses and my sometimes (lately) flaky scalp seems flakier. I was using the Wash Behind Your Ears (special for Spring) and that seemed OK but didn't use it long enough to be sure. Probably will try Jason and the Argan Oil next. Attempting to find a shampoo bar that will cut through oil but calm my scalp. Am finding that a rich non-Lush conditioner with a significant amount of silicone may be the best to offset the tangles...but also trying R & B conditioner which does help untangle if used on towel-dried hair prior to combing. Oh yes, and it does seem to play well with American Cream conditioner, the scent of R&B and AC together is amazing!
Hey Guinevere, the Lush Soak and Float doesn't get all the oil out? I actually first switched to LUSH shampoo bars because it gave me that 'stripped' feeling when using it. You might have to use it twice instead of once per wash if you have really oily hair. Also, yes, the Soak and Float was advertised for flaky hair, but when I used it, it made it much worse and my scalp turned red, which is why I switched over to the green shampoo bar: Karma Komba. I've actually used Jason and Argon oil too, and it was pretty good for my scalp. I'm glad the creamy conditioner is working for you. Let me know how Jason and Argon oil work for you if you end up using it!
I stepped foot into Lush for the first time yesterday and I am in love with the company. They seem so ethically-minded and the products seem to be really high quality, as well. I used a not sleepy shower bomb last night followed by the charity pot naked lotion, plus I used the jade roller facial cleanser and the guv'ner deodorant. So far, I am impressed. I cannot wait to try a naked shampoo bar! I want to go back and purchase one really soon because last night I realized my shampoo is running out... what a good excuse!! XD
I bought a handmade shampoo bar from a local small business in town. Although I like the idea of no plastic, the bar makes my hair greasy. I have to use a reg shampoo in between. Mind you I don't use the red cider vinegar and water rinse suggested on the bar.
Yeah, I've definitely experimented with handmade shampoo bars I've found on Etsy and grocery stores. Some made my hair greasy and others made my hair feel heavy, like it didn't completely wash out. Which is why I liked the Lush Shampoo bars because they gave me the clean and light feeling I wanted without a plastic bottle involved. I bought red cider vinegar to do the rinse once and I didn't really enjoy the extra process, I heard it works for some people, but I never got too involved with that route.
No problem! I hope you enjoy it once you get it! Also, remember if you don't like the one you got, you can always return or exchange it for a different one!
I love love love mine! I originally bought it to travel, but I’ve been backpacking for a month now and I will never go back! I have the lavender purple one!
First off, waayy cool that you are backpacking. And second, I love the smell of the purple one! It was actually the first one I ever used at a friend's place and got me into solid shampoo bars!
I just bought my first shampoo bar from lush today, looking forward to trying it! I got the soak and float one and my scalp is quite sensitive so hopefully it works ok for me! What was it about the soak and float one that messed up your scalp?
I don't actually know...but my skin on my scalp started peeling and turning pink. I returned it the next day. Hopefully, your scalp doesn't react the way mine did!
Thanks! I have a lot of plastic things from back in the day too that I just decided to reuse. Like old plastic bottles, etc. Plus there isn't any point in buying something new if you already have some version of it you can use.
I'm currently living in the philippines, and I use local shampoo bars called ecobars since Lush isnt sold here. Bought em in August and still not done with em in the middle of October. Shampoo bars really do last long time!
I actually brought one like a few days ago and I went in asking what bars do what and the staff didn't know anything about what benefits are with each one. I got the soak and float and so far so good but I wish I had got more of a run down on each product
I’ve tried 2, Soak And Float (I got this recommended for my type of hair by someone working at the shop) and New. So far I have no luck at all. It gets my hair pretty dry during the wash (lots of solid soaps also do this to my skin) and on the long term my scalp gets dry, and flaky, and incredibly itchy. It’s not like that at first but over time it builds up and it itches so bad, even with a good liquid conditioner. I haven’t tried conditioner bar but I really hope I get more luck.
Aw man that sounds awful. It's crazy how different people's reactions to products can be. Do you think maybe you're allergic to the chemicals in the solid shampoo bars? Have you tried one without Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or any chemicals at all? There are some pure organic ones. I am thinking about trying out shampoo bars without this chemical to see if that will still keep my hair 'feel' clean. If you're not getting this reaction with bottled shampoos, then it might be some chemical in the solid shampoo bars that isn't working for you. If you are getting the same reaction, then it might be a skin condition too that a dermatologist can look at. I've had scalp trouble as well and one visit to the dermatologist got me all fixed up!
TheModernGreenLife I haven’t tried others so I don’t know, I’m completely new to this, I started at the end of this summer. I’ll compare the ingredients and see.
I actually bought the bar and then watched the video so I really hoped it would have been a nice review cause I bought two xD I thought that since I am going to travel later this year for a long time, I don't want to be buying shampoo bottles all the time, this can save me the hustle. Glad to know it works well!
I'm glad! If you're traveling with your shampoo bar and keeping it in a tin, remember to let it dry all the way before closing it up. It dries better if you have it tilted vertically rather than on it's flat surface so both sides can dry all the way!
Thanks Amber! Yeah, it's a great feeling using less plastic, I imagine one less going into our oceans or landfills, avoiding the damage it would cause for the next 100 years or so since it doesn't fully decompose. I'm happy that you're going to use less plastic now!
Hey! I want to buy and try one. But where is better to buy- lush or different shop? I am from Latvia and we dont have those here. Do they send them also by post?
if you are going to buy the New shampoo bar, grab some conditioner too because new can be a bit drying : ) The bar actually do its job by making your hair grow a little bit faster and kinda thicker, but remember to grab some conditioner or hair treatment.
So true, I bought both the JUNGLE and the SUGER DADDY-O conditioner. I didn't like the JUNGLE one, it was way too thick of a conditioner, it stayed in my hair and weighed it down, but SUGAR DADDY-O (the purple one) works like a charm. I just take the bar and rub it directly on the ends of my hair.
So here is a list of all the ingredients in the solid conditioner bar, SUGAR DADDY-O that I bought. www.lushusa.com/hair/conditioners/sugar-daddy-o/05988.html it doesn't lather the same way the shampoo bar does, which is why I rub it directly on my hair instead. The JUNGLE one tended to stick to my hair and not wash out. The SUGAR DADDY-O works better. However, I'm thinking of switching to a different conditioner bar because Lush's conditioner bar has a few more unknown chemicals then I would like to have in my hair. Any solid bar will melt if not put on a drying dish outside the shower itself, so be sure to use a soap saver for it too! I just use one soap saver and put my shampoo and conditioner bar on the same one :) And yea, they really do work. Don't expect it to turn a creamy texture that you would use to lather into your hair. Sometimes I feel like the bar itself doesn't even melt with water and that it doesn't go on my hair at all, but it does. It just works a different way than liquid conditioner. The good part about that is because you use less of it, it lasts a really long time! Side note: I recently switched over to this shampoo bar: amzn.to/2K7tw3k It's cheaper and sulfate-free and it works pretty well and still gives that clean feeling I'm looking for. So you can check it out if you want a cheaper option.
Wait why would you need to order that plastic soap holder because I thought the company sold a special metal containers to put the soap bars in in fact they used to only have around one and I heard people had trouble because the soap would get stuck but they now have a square one out which I want to look into so why didn’t you just purchased the 10 from the store that goes exactly with the shampoo bar? That was supposed to say the metal tin?
Hi! So I actually also have the tin if I travel with my shampoo bar. I don't use the tin at home because I want the shampoo bar to dry out completely. I've left the shampoo bar in the tin during trips and the shampoo bar would sort of stick to the bottom of the tin because it would partially melt from the excess water that doesn't dry out in the tin. I think the tin is okay for traveling, but not for home.
I used to use the Lush Conditioner bars, but to be honest, they aren't great. Mostly because they don't melt well. It takes awhile for them to get soft in the shower and then when I rub it on my hair, barely anything rubs onto it. My hair doesn't feel silky smooth at all afterwards either....Still on the look out for a good zero waste conditioner bar alternative...somewhere out there, there must be one
I, strangely, recently moved into a communal place where I share a bathroom so I have to keep my bathroom stuff with me too! I've learned that the travel tin is NOT great for keeping things solid, the lush bar ended up melting and sticking to the bottom. So, instead, you can use the soap saver in the video and cut it to the size of the tin, then put it at the bottom so the liquid will move to the bottom. Even better is to let it air dry for awhile before closing the lid. I actually keep my face bar soap in an open mini mason jar to let it air dry too (without a soap saver at the bottom), making sure to clean the jar from time to time. The face bar is always on it's side so it doesn't stick to the bottom. Hope this gives you options!
I would say yes, only because the shampoo has sulfate in it so it really removes all the oil in your hair, leaving it bare enough that it could use conditioner. Some people don't need to condition their hair, so if you don't normally condition your hair with the shampoo you use now, you probably won't need it. If you do use a separate conditioner now, you'll probably need one for this too. I just bought the Lush Hair Conditioner called 'BIG' and I like it. It lathers pretty well. I do not suggest getting the "JUNGLE" conditioner, it did not melt and lather as well when I bought it about a year ago.
I use both! I got the purple conditioner bar I believe it is Jasmine. It doesn't lather the way the shampoo bar does. I actually rub it straight on the ends of my hair. I wouldn't say it's exactly like the liquid conditioners, because it doesn't give my hair a super fluffy feeling, but it does keep it smooth.
It actually doesn't :(. Lush sells separate conditioner bars, but I'm not totally convinced they are great compared to how much I like the Lush Shampoo Bars.
I actually used to have to use conditioner. After using this shampoo bar, I haven’t had to use conditioner at all. I have really thick ass hair that also tangles so easily. But this shampoo bar works great on my hair.
I love love love my solid shampoo bars, they all smell amazing, will shampoo and condition, it doesn’t look like it would be effective, but it lathers up so quick, like baking soda to vinegar the effect is immediate! I’m so lucky that my brother manages the lush store in the Mall Of America, and he always send me products free of charge 👍
A little plastic here and there is not the end of the world. Appreciate the video, but don't stress too much about little things, you will live longer.
Dan DCC91 ... said 1 billion other people on this planet, everyday.. that’s how I used to think too until I was more aware of what plastic waste is doing to our environment and our marine life (only 9% of plastic actually gets recycled... and takes hundreds of years to break down) I applaud her for trying to reduce waste and educating others. Great video! I’m looking into shampoo bars and this video certainly helped. Keep up the great work:) new subscriber over here! 🙌🏼
@@amusedal I mean your time would be better spent trying to convince other people not to buy bottled waters or recycling better than stressing about every tiny plastic wrapper. Read again what I wrote. If you are THAT serious about your carbon footprint that you are worrying about a plastic wrapper of your shampoo bar you have to get a new one of every 3 months, why drive a car or have a phone? Or have a house? Probably more plastic wasted in manufacturing any one of those things than you will ever save in shampoo bar wrappings in your life. Seriously, do some math.
@@amusedal amusedal Go build your own house from trees you chopped down with axes you made yourself with metal ores you mind yourself and tree branches you chopped yourself. And make your own soap from the whatever ingredients you obtained yourself and go to work on a horseback. Use only pencils you made yourself with only natural ingredients you obtained yourself. Don't use any consumer electronics or wear designer goods. Ffs, the clothes she is wearing probably had more plastic for packaging than she will ever waste in shampoo bar wrappings.
Love how you’re trying to reduce your plastic usage! I’m definitely going to try to DIY a soap saver haha
anh thanks! Yeah definitely make your own to save costs and material!

Paige walker it’s been a few months since you made this post so i’m wondering if you still feel the same about shampoo bars ?
Thank u for the tip with the soap saver. I just bought my first shampoo bar I got Jason and the argan oil and I was surprised how well it washed my hair.
that's awesome!! Yeah soap saver will make your shampoo bar last soooo much longer :D
You can also just put your shampoo bar on a small ceramic dish and keep it on your bathroom counter! Works for me :)
No plastic. No animal testing
Highly recommended 👍🏽
Thanks!

Smart. Smart.
They're good to take on holiday

I'm definitely convinced~! I'll try this out asap
Yes, you should! Remember to let it dry out to keep it lasting as long as possible!
Your hair look so shiny and so good
Thinking of buying one thank you

Any solid bar will melt if not put on a drying dish outside the shower itself, so be sure to use a soap saver for it too! I just use one soap saver and put my shampoo and conditioner bar on the same one :)
And yea, they really do work.
Side note: I recently switched over to this shampoo bar: amzn.to/2K7tw3k
It's cheaper and sulfate-free and it works pretty well and still gives that clean feeling I'm looking for. So you can check it out if you want a cheaper option.
omg this is extremely helpful. thank you for noticing my comment. maybe I'll give the solid conditioner a try : )
Hi uwu i bought the seanik shampoo bar a few hours ago cause i really just wanna reduce the plastic in the environment :>
ooo nice!
What conditioner do you use with it?
I used to use the Lush Conditioner bars, but to be honest, they aren't great. Mostly because they don't melt well. It takes awhile for them to get soft in the shower and then when I rub it on my hair, barely anything rubs onto it. My hair doesn't feel silky smooth at all afterwards either....Still on the look out for a good zero waste conditioner bar alternative...somewhere out there, there must be one
i want to get one, if i put it in the travel tin will it still melt? I live in a dorm with a communal bathroom and idk how i can store my bar
Do you need conditioner after using these? I rather not have to buy both!
Lush's Godiva shampoo bar works as a two in one, shampoo and conditioner :)
The best compromise is to just start off with the shampoo. Try it for a wash. If it feels dry, then you can get a conditioner
Thanks everyone. I'll try the Goldiva one. My hair is oily. Barely can skip a day of hairwashing.
Do you still use conditioner or just the shampoo bar?
I use both! I got the purple conditioner bar I believe it is Jasmine. It doesn't lather the way the shampoo bar does. I actually rub it straight on the ends of my hair. I wouldn't say it's exactly like the liquid conditioners, because it doesn't give my hair a super fluffy feeling, but it does keep it smooth.
can I ask if those petals that some bars have wash out easily
I've never had a problem with any of the extra petals or stuff they put in the bars. So should be fine!
I am buying ASAP! thanks so much :)
No problem! I'm glad my review helped!
but when i wash my hair with a shampoo bar and it makes my hair really dry during the wash...is that normal?
That's not really normal, maybe you should switch shampoo bars
How often do you wash your hair?
On average, about 3 times a week!
yeeiii less plastic! this brand just came to México so really excited to try it after your cute review :P
Yay for less plastic in the world!!! I'm glad you are trying to reduce your waste with shampoo bars. Let me know how it turns out!
I Iove shampoo bars
Does it double as conditioner?
It actually doesn't :(. Lush sells separate conditioner bars, but I'm not totally convinced they are great compared to how much I like the Lush Shampoo Bars.
I actually used to have to use conditioner. After using this shampoo bar, I haven’t had to use conditioner at all. I have really thick ass hair that also tangles so easily. But this shampoo bar works great on my hair.
I just purchased one and I wanted to know more about what I purchased so that's how I ended up here lol
Same!
Hi
Hi!
You: it was this thick
You again: now it is this thick
You drop it
Now it is in half :/
I love love love my solid shampoo bars, they all smell amazing, will shampoo and condition, it doesn’t look like it would be effective, but it lathers up so quick, like baking soda to vinegar the effect is immediate! I’m so lucky that my brother manages the lush store in the Mall Of America, and he always send me products free of charge 👍
U need more jump cuts
A bit too loud
