- Hi friends, In this video I will be blogging my symptoms on the ADHD medication that was prescribed to me by my neurologist. I wanted to post a video like this because I searched all over the internet for a video that showed me a daily basis on straterra and I couldn't find a video that recorded someones daily perspective on this medication. If you have any questions feel free to comment , prescribe and like. (: Strattera = Atomoxetine

Girl, thank you for opening up and sharing your journey with Strattera! As someone starting out on this medication as well, your honesty about the emotional numbness really resonates with me. Your insight and empathy shine through, and you seem to be a very bright and emotionally in tune person. I hope you find the right path to manage your ADHD. Wishing you all the best on your journey ahead!
Thank you, I wish you well on this journey💕
I'm getting Atomoxetine (strattera), personally I couldn't care less if I go emotionally flat, I have very demanding schedule so this will be a huge benefit if I could be more focused like you mentioned "1 hour of flashcards instead of 2 hours, maybe"
So far all I heard on my end in a nutshell, was this drug is about to help me focus and get schooling, work, weight training done like there is no tomorrow.
Huge thanks to Margarita Gaona for making the video.
Hows it been going for you?
Thank you , I wish you well on this journey 💕
First day on my meds and omg I feel all these things. For the first time in my life I finished all my tasks and sat down on the desk until they were all done, but I didn’t feel any reward after. It was really confusing, as this is all I have ever wanted. And then when hanging out with a close friend I could feel like I was not myself, like I was answering all these questions and making jokes, but it wasn’t really me. It’s very scary, but also kinda good that the work stuff is getting done. Hopefully the anxiety and personality swing is just a short term effect and goes away. But this video made me feel like I wasn’t the only one. Thank you!!
What dose you take?
@@mrchips.9245 I am taking 40mg and will ramp it up to 80 or 100 to find what effects me most on my quest for better focus to studying.
Thank you for posting this, it was very informative and straight forward. I have my pills on me, but haven't started yet, because I've been nervous. I'm sorry you had to go through this alone, but I'm glad you were able to recognize what was the best decision for you. I hope you're doing ok, I'm going to check out your channel
Thank you , I wish you well on this journey 💕
Please do a video on liteflake their addys are top tier you said you were going to do one last month but never did it.
Thank you so much for your experience, Margarita. I send you much love from Japan....I also will order the same medicine to my psychiatrist. I also feel scary if I changed my mind, body and way
to think. Your voice is precious, everyone who have similar troubles need your voice and experience. Thank you dear
This was truly amazing, thanks for being honest and genuine it takes great courage, you will help alot of people by sharing this, your a real gem and a beautiful person.
Thank you 🥹💕
Didnt you partner with liteflake ?? They moving addys now lmao
I am so grateful to find this. I'm a few days in and experiencing very similar things. I appreciate that you took the time to make this and that you are doing well now!
@@StillthatguyJake thank you for watching my video , I hope this helps . ✨
@@margaritagaona I was actually warned about the exact things you mentioned (I love my doctor for that) and it was very relatable. I'm going to give it more time since I really am enjoying not overthinking everything in my life lol
I just tried Strattera today & so far I understand what you mean by “monotone”. I feel less restless & active. My mind is calm but feels static like something is turning me off. Focus is a little better but not that improved. I feel a bit heavy & indifferent, which is expected when you start a new medication so I’ll see how it goes.
Hello, thank you for watching my video ✨ please let me know how the medication works out for you. I wish you the best ✨
Strattera will take 4-6 weeks before it starts showing full effects
same here! My first day was today. I feel so sleepy in my mind
I have tried this for half a year. And at first i was like wow this is a pretty good medicine i was energetic when i woke up so i could get out of bed without struggling. Started smoking and my nicotine tollerance was really high. Began sweating like hell on my new job as a dissabled caretaker (dont know what its called im Dutch) in stressfull situations. So i got insecure about that. And i always felt sleepy during day when i was at home. So i could go into bed at 3 pm and got out of my bed long after i shouldve had dinner. But my appetite was gone for the most part. So i got to the point where i could sleep for like 3 hours and then when i would go to sleep for the night i could still sleep for 8 hours straight. I felt like i lived in some kind of bubble/high. All those thing where enough reason for me to stop Strattera. Im glad that i tried it but i learned im better without the drug. Thats my opinion about it but its always worth it to experiment though.
Greetings from the Netherlands.👊🏻😘
This is why I take it at night
a couple thoughts I have: 1st thank you. 2nd - you are a gentle soul in a world that is not that alone will cause stress. 3rd i know this is easy for me to say but i hope that you will grow to be less concerned about what others think about you and if they will notice a change. who cares -your doing what you can and they can support you or not but you have to try. im confident they will support you. i say just be honest and open with them as you are with us, let the chips fall where they may. ADD sucks big time, keep trying to find your solution whatever it takes.
Thank you for your kind words and thoughts ✨
Stratera needs to bulid up in your system. Its a long term titration medication, you don't see the benefits quickly like the amphetamines... give it time, your dosage step ups are very fast compared to how we do it in the UK.. 2 weeks on each dose before we step up to the next.. i feel your quick jumps would be quite jaring for you..
I'm on day 5 of Stattera. It's still making new nauseated but not nearly as bad. My sleep is more restless than before. I have to take the med before bed because it makes me so drowsy and dizzy.
I see the comments feeling flat and that's exactly how i feel. My giddiness is gone and i don't like that at all.
Thank you for the video. I know they said it would take time to tell a difference but i feel some differences already. Trying to be patient.
I have just weened off epilim as a mood stabilizer. I felt flat, robotic and emotionless. I feel energetic again and it's wonderful. I have had depression and anxiety for years and I am about 2 weeks away from being medication free. I am so excited to be myself again!
I was considering strattera as an option. Thank you for posting this. I can see it's not for me. My ADHD husband took it and it wasn't for him either. He takes ritalin which works best for him.
Thank you for making this video. I’m on day 2 of 40 mg Atomoxetine (aka generic Straterra) and have been nervous about the journey.
We’re in this together, I started my dose one month ago and I understand what you’re going through. Hang in there girl you got this. Remember there's nothing "wrong" with us, we are all different and that’s ok.
Love the positivity✨Thank you , you got this !!
Did it start to get better?
You are very intelligent so I'm sure you are going to find your balance that works for you. I wish you the best and thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much🫶🏼
Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope you are doing well. I have been taking Concerta 36mg for the last 4 months for ADD. The medication has been a game changer for me as it has allowed me to focus better and accomplish my tasks on time. It has also improved my concentration in all aspects. Overall, I am happy and satisfied with the results. The only problem I face is mood swings sometimes when it wears off, but they are manageable😅
Hello ☺I am glad that you found a medicine that helps with your ADD. I wish you the best ✨
Hello, I am 39 years old, and today is my 5th day taking it. The changes I am experiencing are real and can be described as miraculous. It all comes down to how brain chemistry responds to changes, hypersensitivity, and the disrupted state of ADHD. For me, this is the right path.
Dont you have to give the medicaiton time to get into your system, which is definitely longer than one week. They say about 8 weeks or so.
Yes, it takes a few weeks to start working. Whenever the body consumes medication that is out of the normal the body and mind will take affect. Everyone is different 💕✨
You are wrong, it takes almost 4 weeks. Do you understand what the drug does and how it works? I think you letting your mind get the better of you. Making videos are not a reason to exaggerate.
@@colorguppiesthis is poor communication. You’re in your head and a bit negative. = giving you some of your own medicine.
@@tygulickyou make no sense….talk to any doctor.
@@colorguppies that’s the point. I repeated back to you what you said. And now perhaps you see that you should talk to your doctor. You shouldn’t have said what you said to begin with. Very wrong.
Here because I just took my first strattera and feeling nauseated and super exhausted 😂 comforting to know im not the only one.
Im AuDHD and we have a lot of similar issues, according to what you've shared. So this is very valuable.
I'll see how it works with my lifestyle and chemistry. Thank you!
I hope the medicine works for you , keep me informed if it works for you 😀
I just started it today after 16 years of not being medicated and I honestly expect my personality to change, i can’t wait.
I know this feeling, started meds at 37, it's awesome.
I hope the medication works for you , best of wishes ✨
Thank you so much for this sincere and incredibly helpful review!
@@isabeljames4624 I’m glad it helps 🫶🏼
Literally describing my experience. I get so sleepy at times , I also notice I’m hyper focused on things . I also wonder how people are perceiving me. I do notice I’m not as emotional or feel emotions as intensely which is what I like .
No updates, I am no longer using it and I am attempting to be off medication.
@ good for you 🙏🏽
Thank you Margarita! I feel like I have a better understanding of this medication after watching your video. I was curious as to if you started something different or found anything else that may have helped you? I’m not fit for stimulants so this may be one of the medications that I may bring up on my next appointment :) this video was helpful to me. Thank you and best of luck ❤
Thank you for watching my video 🤍 I have not taken any medications, instead I have been meditating and journaling , working out and learning how to understand my self . Good luck on your choice of medication 🫶🏼
First day on Strattera. I wish it made me drowsy, but I had the opposite effect. It kept me up all night and now I am dead tired and I'm so gassy. Hopefully it will get better for me...
I wish you the best 😊✨
Omg I'm on my 4th day and so gassy what the heck
On my fourth day and just feeling slight changes and from the information expect to pay attention later as they state it takes 14 days to smooth the effects to a base line. While waiting there will be bumps and sensations as it starts to change brain chemistry. Noticed as a 67 year old male that urination takes longer, but not a bad effect and found out that early treatments for bed wetters used this drug to help young adults from this nervous condition.
You have very good and honest communication skills, and a funny personality (bless that sneeze!). Regarding the masking, sounds like spectrum :)
Oh thank you!
No wonder life is easier for others
4-6 weeks is needed to feel full effects btw
also you should take 40 mg for at least a week. if you feel fine after a week you can increase to 60 or 80 (i would do 60 first) but waiting longer than week is totally fine just listen to your body :)
Thank you for explaining it like this!!! I don't know how I would be without a million thoughts + a song playing at all times. I want to focus more because I'm in grad school but I feel like my ADHD is apart of my personality. So I'm debating on only taking it on days where I have a heavy workload and a lot of things just have to get done.
I feel like adhd is a part of my personality too... but I'm not doing good without medication so maybe I need to be on it
@@Vampirelov3r2000 working out has helped a little for me. Im focused for about 2-3hrs after the gym by after lunch its gone. so i try to squeeze alot in around then. The afternoons and evening ate hard for me
I understand how you feel. I felt the same way. My personality revolves around the way my thoughts come in. Having ADHD while attempting grad school is difficult because it consist of managing a lot of tasks, homework assignments, friends and family. Therefore it is important to prioritize the end goal and with that means controlling the Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder. I would say try the medication out, see how you do and If you decide It isn't for you I would try something different like self discipline 💕 I wish you the best ✨
@@margaritagaona Thank you! I'm finally 3 classes away from graduation. My doctor let me choose my dosages and I take them based on what I have to do that day. It was rough the first month, but I think I've found my flow now.
Hey you are not alone, I get it and from the outside it definitely looks like you were struggling to accept the new changes and maybe letting the fear and paranoia get to you as well as overthinking it a little bit and like you said you feel like you were going through this alone and maybe you don’t have anyone to talk to about it and like you said you don’t like change but there’s a part of you that understands that this might be what you need? I don’t know you that well, so I can’t say anything on that only you can. and aside from that you are very strong and I don’t believe that you’re acting I think maybe you might care a little bit too much about what people thinking. I think that’s from anxiety and the overthinking and I get it. Trust me there’s no judgment on my end.❤ I also have ADHD combined type in. You are awesome because you are providing me with so much insight and just you help me feel seen and I definitely understand the struggle. You deserve nothing but kindness, and good things you do not have to go through this battle alone, if you ever need to talk, just let me know. I know I’m a stranger off the Internet, but like just know you’re not alone and that people care about you. also I get the feeling that your parents might intimidate you in some type of way. I don’t know if that was trauma related or not but again no judgment and I just truly understand personally, I’m working on getting a therapist because I feel like therapy plus medication will help and I’m about to start this medication tomorrow so thank you so much for your incredible insight, I wish us both the best of luck in our continuing journey❤
I have been taking Concerta for a while. I noticed the same that it gave me a weird side effect of zoning in to social media. I was scrolling on it for hours and hours and my mind was totally focused on it like never before. Even If I wanted to do something else I just couldn't. According to the doctor it's a sign that the medicine is working and improving the focus but not working well enough to let me choose what to focus on. I will try Straterra next I guess.
Thank you for your authenticity! I hope you found something that works sweetheart ❤
Thank you 💞
And how do you feel now? Cause it's really normal to have severe side effects in the first few days, I rememeber feeling heavily sedated for the first two weeks and now my body's adjusted and I feel great.
I stopped the medication because it gave me a lot of anxiety. Getting off the medication was difficult because I had so many side effects . Ahh, I hear so many stories of people feeling great after , I might give it a second try .
@@margaritagaona I feel like your psychiatrist should have told you beforehand. I would have freaked out too if nobody told me that there can be some strange stuff happening to my body. If you ever decide to give it a second go I hope the side effects won't be so bad for you
@@margaritagaona this med has changed my life for now, I'm taking it for 3months, better concentration, less tired. Side effects were a bit insomnia and cold sweat but benefits far outweights the side effects for me.
Im so happy this medication is working out for you ✨ @@jerrerock
I’ve got adhd too. I’m seeing my psychiatrist today and hoping to have my meds today and I’m nervous bc I’ve recently been diagnosed and have no idea what to expect from them.
so what happend?
Are you still on it? I don’t see an update
The fact that the comments range from 2 weeks to some months is baffling to me Almost all of people with adhd have dopaminergic deficiency
And some people with adhd have noradrenergic deficiency
Nris such as strattera or qelbree work first on noradrenaline (increasing cognitive arousal and calmness(no, these are not opposites)) and than after some months it is increasing dopamine in your brain (brain is trying to inhibit noradrenaline by creating dopamine which counters noradrenaline creation(pretty smart working medication aye)
That's why there is such diversity of opinion in the comments
To sum it up there is only two types of adhd neurologically:
ADHD without dopaminergic activity (these people will feel effects from startera and qelbree within months, when dopamine is increasing in the brain)
And ADHD without both noradrenergic and dopaminergic activity ((more common type) for those people non stimulants are more beneficial than for others, and start feeling effects within weeks. 1st the noradrenaline betterment then at the same time as the first group within months they will feel dopamine hit)
Thank you for sharing ❤
Hope your doing better be strong I’m starting strattera today & im kinda nervous but it’s okay I used to take Adderall and my body got dependent on it so I stopped taking it hoping strattera helps
Hello Margarita, I’m curious if you ended up switching to a different adhd med? 💗 also on Strattera and having a hard time
Hello, I did not switch to anything. I tried natural remedies for a while.
Question. Are you also on the spectrum? I got diagnosed with adhd also when I got my autism diagnosis and I was about 32 years old. I also have a lot of trouble with being perceived and so it made me wonder if you might also be on the spectrum.
I started today empty stomach...barfed twice... I feel a little dizzy like 10%. I tried my sons Ritalin last week and wow, Ritalin calmed my adhd a lot in like 30 minutes, and I sat at my desk all day. I need to switch if this doesn't work after 90 days.. Be patient all...TY Margarita
Bless you 😂 you have a cute sneeze @ 8:22 🥰
Thank you 🤭
I wanted to see why you/ your neurologist chose this medication over like adderall for example?
This is my life up to 33 years old. WoW 🤩
I was on it for a few days. Worst stomach pain of my life and … I didn’t eat or drink water for 3 days. It was terrible. Not gonna take it again.
Took my first pill today its making my neck stiff..i feel like im almost alergic to it. Skin feels like i have the chills. I am quietly suffering inside myself with side effects .i don't think i like this
Please consult to your doctor the side effects that you are experiencing in hopes that they prescribe you something that suits your body ✨
80mg on the 4th day is bonkers. Psycho titration from your doc. Half life can be, depending on your genetics, one or even several days, which means you are topping on top of previous days doses. Which means you could be getting 2 to 3 times more of the thing in your blood. And that without taking into account that 80mg for someone so lightweight is already overkill just applying the formula for dose calculation. And pee miscontrol is one of the side effects.
I am so glad you brought this up. I had my suspicions on the dosage. Good thing I am not taking this medication anymore !
@margaritagaona Well.. my point was that you may enjoy the benefits you had the first few days if you stick to a lower dosage. Are you taking different meds now? How are you doing with your adhd?
I’m on these for two days and also Paroxetine 10mg and Buspirone 15mg all three daily
ik it’s the placebo affect or something but today i started it and under my skin feels warm but my skin feels numb. again ik it’s just me overthinking it but im also confused bc my psychiatrist said that i have add not adhd and i thought that i would take a stimulant not non-stimulant
It’s weird to think there could be no inner voice
RIGHT! I never could have imagined life without the inner voice.
wow nice
This is why I’ve avoided relationship’s then
Always knew something was different about me
Can I get an update on your experience with Strattera
I am on my first day with both Wellbutrin and Straterra. Wellbutrin day 70 Straterra day 1. I have yet to feel anything different. If I am not happy in 3 weeks I will ask my doctor to go to Adderall.
I start on adderall this week. This was my 3rd week. Wellbutrin did nothing for me. I have a ringing in my ears but still no energy.
I am also on Wellbutrin and straterra. Second day in straterra four months on Wellbutrin. Did you notice any problems with taking both the medications? First night I slept great second night I woke up at 1:30 and couldn’t sleep
As a reaction I’m more restless and insomniac but atleast my minds more quiet and I impulse spend less HA
All these people claiming they felt effects on the first day. SNRI’s do not work like that.
Yeah strattera makes me dehydrated
thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching ☺️
It’s not supposed to treat depression and one week surely isn’t enough time.. unless you have obvious serious side effects. Chip up I hope you find something that works
normally you should be drinking 6 water bottles a day.
How’s your adhd now?
I have learned to manage it by working out and therapy 💕
