Hi Nancy, I have learnt so much from you! Finally at 66 I am starting to get the clothes/outfits that I have always wanted😍 Thank you so much for your great advice! Kym, Edinburgh, Scotland
What is always hard for me is that I’m limited to the colors that are popular in the stores. I’m not always able to find what I’m looking for in the colors I like.
Take advantage of the seasonality of shopping! One thing I know you can always rely on with the stores is that they do have seasonality. For example, right now they are all getting in their early spring/cruise. It's always navy and white with pops of primary colors like red, yellow, or green. That's when I do my most shopping - when the stores bring in the colors I really love and then I layer in bits and pieces throughout the year. They will have trending colors but they will always carry basic colors, too. I hope that helps!
There are plenty of options, figure out your colors, your brands, your sizes and shop online (store websites, eBay, PoshMark etc.) as well as in person, be sure to add accessories that are in your colors! Good luck and happy shopping!!!
Hi Nancy, I've been watching your videos for over a year. I really admire your sense of style. Everything you wear is always so put together. When you had your Lily Pultizer wardrobe everything coordinated and now on the East Coast you beautifully transitioned (IMO) to a new color palette but still in your same style. I have tried to do this a million times, but although I know the mechanics of it - my eyes are just drawn to all different styles. Sometimes I have been able to put together a capsule wardrobe but other times (and it's around the different seasons) my closet is all over the place. My biggest weakness is evening clothes and I can't live a practical life in high heels and a ball gown 🤭🤭🤣🤣 Thank you so much for your great videos.
Hi Helen, Thank you so much for your kind words! 💕Have you identified your 3 style words? Knowing them really helps take away the distractions of all the other pretty things when you're shopping. Also, when you shop, are you shopping with a list of things you need in your wardrobe? I find those are the keys to keeping my wardrobe on track so that I don't bring in things I can't wear every day. I hope that helps...now walk away from the high heels and evening gowns, we're not on Dynasty. 🤣
@@shoppingonchampagne Hi Nancy, Thank you so much for responding. I have completed all the style exercises and recommendations on your channel. So intellectually I feel comfortable in the knowledge I have garnered. In reflecting more on this topic, I believe my issue is that I only shop when there is a special occasion, vacation, and/or holiday. Otherwise, my day-to-day life doesn't really warrant an extensive wardrobe, which is why I probably have a closet full of evening clothes, I also have all the basics (could be too many clothing items as well!). I think revisiting your closet decluttering videos will help me get control of a 'closet full of clothes with nothing to wear'. I'm frustrated I can't master this topic when I have all the tools at my disposal. I will try again! I hope my comments will help others!
Thank you so much for your advice how to wear colours which I love but do not go so well with me! I will use the trick with the white t-shirt for wearing beige!
Hi Nancy, love your videos and inspiration. I have decided that I am cool toned and my neutrals are gray, navy and some black. Then bring on pretty mid range color! I was told that I am a summer.
Hello Nancy. The colors I like to wear vary depending on the season. In winter, I love jewel colors (especially burgundy, deep red or dark green,). In spring and summer, I wear different shades of blue and a lot of light beiges. I avoid pastel colors and white. I tend to opt more often for the cream colors. And finally, in autumn, I am always happy to find the palette of browns, particularly camel and cinnamon. Thank you!
My issue is that I am apparently a soft warm spring but I prefer the darker colors of autumn: navy, denim, khaki/olive, taupe, camel and a splash of purple, sage or burgundy. I have cream shirts but never seem to wear them and prefer the gravitas of darker colors. My constant outfit (almost my uniform) is jeans and a cashmere or cotton pullover sweater so no fussing with top layers. I am almost 70 now and I think I look just fine!
I still have some of my favorite Lilly pieces (but I haven't worn most of them in over a year). Some I gave to my sister, and the rest I sold on ThredUp.
Fine if you want neutrals, the shops are full of black, navy beige and white. It's much harder to buy colours, especially if you want more subtle colours and shades that coordinate. I don't wear navy as first choice but because I've been searching for years for pieces in my preferred colours and have found so few.
I will try and wear most colors. I don’t look great in brown or purple. I’m not a big fan of gray. I wear it, I just personally don’t like the color. Don’t ask me why, because I have no idea. I own brown pants, but it’s one of the colors that doesn’t look god near my face. I do like camel and other variations of brown. I’m not a huge fan of neutrals. I own some, but I like bright colors better. I think I’m a warm tone person.

Thrift store. I find what I'm looking for there..👍☺️
@@likeargamanflaming940 not I, not everywhere has decent thrift stores. Especially anymore. Extremely uncommon.

I have this same problem. I watch your video and I think, "yes, I get it". Then I pick up a random colored item because it caught my eye.

Great content with gorgeous hair!!
Thank you so much! 😊
@@shoppingonchampagne was working on a knitting project and stumbled upon your videos from a few years ago. Now I get you two ways!! 💕
My neutrals are chocolate, caramel, and cream, and my accents are aqua, terra cotta and coral, as well as yellows and greens (I’m a Spring).
Oh, that sounds like a lovely color palette! 🎨
My neutrals are black, grey, denim blue, white. My accents are muted tones of raspberry, forest green, grape and periwinkle.

Hi Nancy, great information ! You look beautiful and I love the new hair, you look younger as well !

My neutrals are bottoms - black, grey, caramel. The tops are the colours - all bright and vibrant❤

You do you. There may be suggestions for colors, but there are no “laws”!
It sounds like you know your style better than any "color reading." Keep wearing what you love! ❤️
I completely agree! 💕
What did you do with all your Lilly clothing.
I still have some of my favorite Lilly pieces (but I haven't worn most of them in over a year). Some I gave to my sister, and the rest I sold on ThredUp.
At 40 1/2 finally doing this. ❤
It's not too late to start! Great job! ❤️
I think I now dress better than I did in my 20’s. I tend to dress in more classic styles and all black
I love hearing that you love your style! Do you ever add pops of color using accessories with your black wardrobe?

How important is hair color? Mine is white and I don't color it.
Me only wearing black with cool tone skin.. and wondering how to style turquoise, emerald, magenta and gray blue 🥲
The editing and jumpiness of this video is very distracting
