As a Brasilian I have to say that Rock in Rio is the best performance of Iron. But man, Chile always was the biggest and most passionated fan base wordlwide for Iron. This guys are impressive.
I also love the "Death on the Road" live, because at the beginning Bruce is barely singing, more like narrating, and it really sounds like he's delivering a scary nighttime tale, I really enjoy that, it underlines so much how they are basically minstrels, singing tales of old times, primordial fear of the dark that is in our survival instincts.
Oh man, so many emotions to me. Rock in Rio is in 2001, Bruce was 43 y.o. about; the second one you showed is the live in Santiago, Chile, 2011; when Bruce (and the guys) was 53\54. There are also shows from the 2019 (and other stuff about Bruce vocal classes in the last years) where the guys are in their 60, but don't forget that Nicko is about 10 years older than the others. I love these boys. All of them.
Nicko will be 70 on his next birthday, Bruce is the baby of the band at 63, Steve, Adrian, Janick and Dave are 64/65. And they are still putting out better music and live performances than bands half or even a third their age!
Especially when they are several years apart. Maybe he could do Seventh Son from 1988 and then from 2013/14. Or Mariner from 1985 and then 2008. Or for Judas Priest, The Sentinel from 1984 and then from 2011, or Victim Of Changes from way back in the day and then 2014.
The second one is in Santiago de Chile. Great one, it's amazing how Brazil, Argentina and Chile in their effort to top each other, make perfect audiences for this kind of shows.
an earlier tour was denied entrance to chile because the catholic church allied with a junta said they were satanic. even brit diplomats could not change their mind. now with freedom iron maiden was in chile singing the clansman freedom and the audience was singing freedom.
they will still be kicking ass at they will be 100 years old. so hope they will live on forever. All maiden converts have a lot of memories. I grew up with these guys, been listening them nearly for 30 years.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen Maiden play. I do remember how I enjoyed myself. Perhaps if they come around again I’ll take it in. OK, TX, CO, UT, AZ. Up the Irons!
Yes Maiden back in your channel! This one is not a particularly complicated song at least vocally but it is a loved one amonst the fans as you can see! Being in that crowd singing along that melody is one of the greatest experiences! You always leave their concerts in bliss!
It’s one of those goosebump moments, every single time, as soon as that opening note hits and you and the crowd around you start singing the melody - chills.
Have to love all the vocal coaches and singers who discover the music ( Maiden , Disturber, Korn , Pantera, Sabbath etc. ) that literally saved and keep saving my life every god damn day ! I sure listen to other genres but the rock/metal is the one that will always be the one for me !
To think they're all pushing mid 60s and Nicko is actually pushing 70 and their performances are still energetic......they're still touring at this level it is very impressive.
Great reaction Ken. The second video was recorded in Santiago, Chile on April 10, 2011. It was crazy to know that Iron Maiden was going to record in my country and of course I was there. From that same concert I recommend you to react to The Talisman (En Vivo). This song makes Bruce unable to run around the stage, in fact he sings the whole song in the same place. Greetings from Chile
They’re just so good live. I think En Vivo is probably the better recording and performance, but there’s something about Rock in Rio for me. It’s just an absolutely magic recording. One of my all time favourite live albums.
Between Rock in Rio, En Vivo, and Flight 666 I think I prefer Flight 666. En Vivo's editing is just really intense, it cuts to a different camera like every 5 seconds haha.
Yeah it's one of those songs that I don't even listen the studio version anymore because it sounds so less burning with passion after all the live ones I've watched, so much energy, I love it more every time I hear it
There was just as much energy and enthusiasm at the O2 arena in Leeds ( UK), everyone in the band was just as sweaty by the end, and you could still see that they enjoyed the performance and the way the crowd reacted to them. Bruce is superhuman, superb singer, airline pilot,, cancer survivor t and now a member of the UK fencing team. The whole band are fantastic, almost all of them are pushing pension age ( over 65), they still have so much energy it's amazing.
Once again, you need to see them live. The entire show is amazing. When the show ends , you are drained and have no voice. Seen them twice, I'd see them 1000 more if possible
If you like the sound quality of En Vivo, you’ve gotta do a listen to The Talisman from the same concert, it just might be one of the best pure vocal performances by Bruce ever!!
At heart we are all just dramatic theater kids man lol Will always love the idea, that they can't speak English , but can sing every Iron Maiden song. I could travel there and find my people man! 1985 -2021 don't mess with Bruce. Or Maiden. They are what a live band should be Can I just say, Bow down to Steve Harris on Bass man. The man!
...so consistently awesome! Said it all. They don't make them like that anymore. I saw them live in Manaus, Brazil, on the same tour of the second video, Bruce sounded better than anything I've heard from him before. I've been fortunate to see a lot of great bands live, Dream Theater, Queensryche, Symphony X, Bob Dylan, The Moody Blues, New Order, Jon Anderson from Yes, and many others, they all had their strong points, but I have never experienced anything like an Iron Maiden concert before. It's like being transported to an alternative reality where you have have 6 super heroes guiding you thru different worlds. The consistent level of energy through the whole set list is nothing short of amazing, specially considering their age. This band is one of the best examples of giving something your best every time still out there.
Please please please you really need to do Talisman from En Vivo. One of his best vocal performances ever if not the best! You will not regret it as a vocal coach. Thanks!!!
On one of the concerts my parents went to in Stockholm when I was just a little kid, Bruce sang this or number of the beast while climbing and hanging half way up the side scaffolding of the stage.
I did an interview with Steve Harris in late 2019 or early 2020 before a tour with his other band, British Lion. I asked what the biggest difference was between his tours with them and Maiden, aside from the size of the venue. He told me that British Lion does a soundcheck before every show because of the differences in venue sizes. He said that Maiden almost never does soundchecks. They dial their sound in during rehearsals and the amphitheaters or arenas they play are all about the same (roughly) design so it just takes small tweaks that their sound crew does. I'm sure it's different for massive stadiums like the one here in Santiago or Rio, but for the most part, they have everything dialed in before they hit the road.
They do soundchecks in Maiden, it's just that their respective techs do it for them. Everyone except Nicko and Bruce are on in-ears so the mix that they receive is constant each night (since all their speaker cabs are in isolation boxes, so the soundcheck is basically there to help the sound guy dial in a good sound for the first few songs.
Not only is Bruce not using in-ear monitors, he wears earplugs. You can see them in numerous shots in the Rock In Rio concert... Bright orange foam earplugs. There might be wedge monitors behind the stage's upper level, or he might just listen to the drums for timing when he's up there. With the earplugs, he's hearing his own voice through his skull, like we all do, and I suppose he's learned how that should sound to him, to sound right to us.
To experience this live is something else Up The Irons 🤘Bruce did say when he woke up that morning he found it hard to breathe altitude and all that traveling
Maiden is one of the classic , in yer face , high tempo, bands...and although Dickenson and crew are still kicking ass ...we also need to take in to consideration..these guys are in their 60's and 70's now...listen to the crue, sebastiin Bach, heck even Geoff tate..none of them can totally belt..like they did in their 20's and 30's.....this is a great feat to be able to perform at this level..at that age..when most of us are in steep decline.. Maiden \m/ ...!!!!!!!
I have been waiting for this one. I used to listen to it as I walked to Middle/High school when it was still dark out. It’s also rare that a live version is better than the studio version which I like. I learned how to play dance of death (only the intro and rhythm parts) as well when ai had a 6 month guitar phase.
The En Vivo performance is in Santiago de Chile (capital of Chile) according to the fans over there when Iron Maiden are in town they almost declare it a National holyday ( true I've no idea) but's that what they say, and of course add more shows. The band might as well move there.
If you ever get a chance to see this band Live.. take it!! I've seen them five times and I can't wait till the next time! And if there isn't the next time I will be happy to say that I've seen them five times. One of the best live bands ever.
Bruce doesn't use in-ear monitors 19:15, just earplugs to protect his hearing. There are monitors on top of the risers as well as onstage. There's usually two right by the drum riser and two in the front, center stage that are active, as well as on the risers above the stage. The ones for the guitarists are just for show, as they're all on in-ears. I guess they don't like the look of a "clean stage".
exactly what i wanted to say, the monitors on stage are props. as in they are empty and fake, they still place them there so that they can put thier legs on top of it. and evne somtimes they were used to sit on. steve also uses them so he can do his signature shooting bass guitar move towards the audiance
Rock in Rio is the best Iron Maiden Live album available. Everyone is on top of their game and you can see that Bruce found the energy again that he lost during the early 90's.
The week after they filmed Ev Vivo I saw them in Tampa with my 11 year old daughter, she's 21 now and still says it's the best show she has been to. But the Rock in Rio is a better version.
Indeed it was, En Vivo was recorded in Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina on the Final Frontier Tour 2011… I think almost all of the footage and audio is from the Chile show and the odd bit from Argentina.
Time to listen to Bruce now that he’s in his 60s, their new album Senjutsu, which they recorded at the beginning of 2019, came out a couple of months ago, Bruce sounds fantastic…. The whole band sounds fantastic, especially Adrian Smith on the guitars, some of his best soloing! Speaking of Adrian Smith, check out his side project with Richie Kotzen (Smith/Kotzen), they play bluesy rock, both of them are primarily guitarists but they have great voices too, especially in harmony with each other.
i've seen pics of him in shorts. hell of a pair of legs. he talks in his book of training for fencing by running sprints up a hill. doubt any other rock singer could run and sing like this.
Hello Ken. I subscribed after seeing your reaction to Ghost Love Score by Nightwish & then binge watched your vids & have been watching for months now. Of all the reaction channels, yours is my favourite because you are so open minded to new stuff & also funny, informative & just seem really chill. I love seeing how excited you get by a lot of tthe music I love. I played your Disturbed Sound of Silence video to my partner today & he loved your reaction (he's a huge fan of Disturbed). I know you get a lot of requests but I was wondering if you could possibly react to I Put A Spell On You by Diamanda Galas live? I think even if you didn't love her voice, you would be impressed by her incredible vocal range, the power of her voice & also her incredible ability for creating various noises (sometimes at the same time). I've only found a couple of reactions to her at all & the they were so bad I clicked off. She was arrested for holding a "plague mass" covered in fake blood in a cathedral & described her voice as "a source of power to my friends & a weapon against my enemies". By the way, I'm stealing the phrase "Phillip gl@ssh*les" - my first boyfriend's dad was a huge glass fan & dismissed a lot of the music I liked as trash so I get it 😂 thanks for the great videos 🤘
This is incredible Ken. Thank you! Which is better? I've been a Maiden fan for over 30 years now. The Rio one has always been among my favorites but the En Vivo entire concert was exceptional. I'm happy we have both!
I recommend you watch Flight 666 documentary, it will really open your eyes to the efforts Iron Maiden go to to deliver these kinds of performances.... Go take a look. 👍
Hi Ken! This reaction was great!! Hope you can do someday, Journeyman in Death on the Road, another concert in Dortmund, greetings from Mexico! #UpTheIrons
As a Brasilian I have to say that Rock in Rio is the best performance of Iron. But man, Chile always was the biggest and most passionated fan base wordlwide for Iron. This guys are impressive.
I always love to see shows live from Brazil or Chile. Never made the trip down, but it's always been a dream of mine.
Such passionate fans!
This performance (whole concert) is one of the best live concert albums I have ever heard. Up there with Queen at Wembly.
@@gm2407 its up there with Pink Floyd Pulse and Nightwish Wacken 13
South america is the fan base most impressive for me
I also love the "Death on the Road" live, because at the beginning Bruce is barely singing, more like narrating, and it really sounds like he's delivering a scary nighttime tale, I really enjoy that, it underlines so much how they are basically minstrels, singing tales of old times, primordial fear of the dark that is in our survival instincts.

Been in Iron Maidens concerts many time. This is THE song.
The second one was in Santiago, Chile.
For South Americans metal is almost a religion and Maiden is in the pantheon.
I love that you did 2 different concerts but the same song, would love to see more of the same, much love Ken!
Careful, after watching this two times back to back, that chorus is going to be stuck in your head for days!
Probably the best live version of this song.
Saw them 3 times in Utah USA 🇺🇸🇺🇸 I love this band and they're unrivaled when it comes to artistry and showmanship. They are the MASTERS 🤘😎🤘
When the song so good, you listen to it twice at different venues. I do believe Ken just dipped a toe into a Maiden rabbit hole.
they will still be kicking ass at they will be 100 years old. so hope they will live on forever. All maiden converts have a lot of memories. I grew up with these guys, been listening them nearly for 30 years.
IRON MAIDEN every member of the band are just COMPLETELY AMAZING TRUE FUCKING STARS that none can reach ✨ ALWAYS ON TIME PERFECT

Proud to be Brazilian. From Sao Paulo Rock City 👊👊👊
You should see the crowd smile when Eddie comes on stage...This is the time everyone' s waiting for. ;)
Up the Irons !!! 🤘
To think they're all pushing mid 60s and Nicko is actually pushing 70 and their performances are still energetic......they're still touring at this level it is very impressive.
Iron Maiden is amazing. All over 50 and do a great Performance
Over 60. Bruce is born at August 1958 and he is the youngest.

BTW - 2nd concert was in Santiago, Chile
I saw them kick off their seventh son tour in Moncton. Still the best show I have seen.
At heart we are all just dramatic theater kids man lol

1985 -2021 don't mess with Bruce. Or Maiden. They are what a live band should be
Can I just say, Bow down to Steve Harris on Bass man. The man!
There were about 11 years between the two shows. Consistent as ever, same as you in those reactions!
Iron Maiden is the band that tries to use old-school equipment as much as possible to get the sound they want to, really TONS of equipment.
Amazing double reaction!!!
Great reaction! You smiled through the entire song… that was great!
Double reactions are always welcomed and appreciated! 👍🌷
Awesome video! Really appreciated the spontaneity
...so consistently awesome! Said it all.

“SOB…he’s so consistently…awesome!” You pretty much summed it up right there Ken!
Cheers from Brazil. I was there, 2001, tons of rock'n roll and no mobile phones !
This show was fantastic, the best of the festival! hug from Brazil
I know I'm late to the show, but I find that I've never seen two bands as consistent and dedicated to perfection as of course Iron Maiden and Rush.
You could add AC/DC to the list for consistency.
Still running at 63 I believe quite an achievement. If true don't quote me.
On one of the concerts my parents went to in Stockholm when I was just a little kid, Bruce sang this or number of the beast while climbing and hanging half way up the side scaffolding of the stage.

That last performance was incredible. Like hearing that song for the first time (though I've heard it so many times)! Thanks so much for doing this ;)
I was there for the second show you showed, it was insane. Fear of the dark is one of those songs that is a thousand times better live
South Americans love their metal, and they LOVE their Maiden.
Can't help myself always click 'like' when you do an Iron Maiden reaction.

Ahhh, yes !! One of my favorite reactors doing one of my favorite songs 💜. I also will be seeing them live in Sept 2022. ❤🤟❤
this is legendary

It‘s just pure power. It doesn‘t need high level technique every time. 😉
rio fans are amazing. rush played there rush in rio and during yyz the fans sang along.it is an instrumental.
If you ever get a chance to see this band Live.. take it!! I've seen them five times and I can't wait till the next time! And if there isn't the next time I will be happy to say that I've seen them five times. One of the best live bands ever.

Rock in Rio is the best Iron Maiden Live album available. Everyone is on top of their game and you can see that Bruce found the energy again that he lost during the early 90's.
Dickinson 'S voice is insane even if this song has not particular difficultés.
More Maiden (in your channel,) the Greatest live band. 🤘🏻
love the #Irons love your reaction to them.
The week after they filmed Ev Vivo I saw them in Tampa with my 11 year old daughter, she's 21 now and still says it's the best show she has been to. But the Rock in Rio is a better version.
Next should be Georgian voices and Bobby McFerrin❤️❤️ I'm so excited for this
The Talisman (En Vivo) pleeaaaaaseeee!!!
Second video was probably in Santiago Chile since Bruce addressed the crowd once as Santiago and once as Chile :-)
Indeed it was, En Vivo was recorded in Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina on the Final Frontier Tour 2011… I think almost all of the footage and audio is from the Chile show and the odd bit from Argentina.
Bruce demands the monitors to jump around them and climb on them so modern but old fashioned #SimplytheBest
Ken, please do live version of Dance of Death🙏also I see new series here: studio vs live? Would be great!
Most of Maiden’s song end up sounding better live anyway.
Maybe comparing the singers (Paul, Bruce, Blaze)
Can you do reaction to Deep Purple - Child in Time? Would like to hear an opinion from vocal coach regarding Ian Gillan singing.
You should do their song The Clansman from Live in Rio 2001
Time to listen to Bruce now that he’s in his 60s, their new album Senjutsu, which they recorded at the beginning of 2019, came out a couple of months ago, Bruce sounds fantastic…. The whole band sounds fantastic, especially Adrian Smith on the guitars, some of his best soloing!
Speaking of Adrian Smith, check out his side project with Richie Kotzen (Smith/Kotzen), they play bluesy rock, both of them are primarily guitarists but they have great voices too, especially in harmony with each other.
that new album is crap! they should retire!
Ken, these guys are great professionals in an institution called Iron Maiden…benchmark in metal bands…o)
Bruce and I are the same age. (65) Personally I prefer the one from Chile when they're older. UP THE IRONS!! 💪🏼 🤘🏼
You should check out Dance of Death live en vivo🤘🤘🤘
Btw the last one is on Santiago/Chile
He references that many ancient texts, religions and philosophers that he's actually assisted me in my work that I do.
Chile to be exact where they actually totally adore the #Irons
i've seen pics of him in shorts. hell of a pair of legs. he talks in his book of training for fencing by running sprints up a hill. doubt any other rock singer could run and sing like this.
Up the irons!! 🤘

Obviously being a live studio recording it is very clear.
And magnificent 🤘🏼😎
This is incredible Ken. Thank you! Which is better? I've been a Maiden fan for over 30 years now. The Rio one has always been among my favorites but the En Vivo entire concert was exceptional. I'm happy we have both!

Go take a look. 👍
Portuguese ao vivo. Spanish, en vivo. English, live.
The second one is Chile
I think it was this tour (Final Frontier) when apparently Bruce's vocal warmup was singing the full set on roller blades.
It's fear of the duck! And from now on you will never hear "dark" again! :)
Second video was in Santiago de Chile I reckon Bruce was about between 58/60 then. He is 63 right now so pretty much close i reckon.
Rock in Rio 2001

The en vivo stage setup is the same as it was at Sonosphere when I saw them live, wondering if it was the same year, it was a great concert!
You should react to some earlier live shows as well. Perhaps something from Live at Donnington 1992 😊👍
Live at Donnington... just check out Iron Maiden live in 2013.. The Phantom of the Opera. They sound great!
Hi Ken! This reaction was great!! Hope you can do someday, Journeyman in Death on the Road, another concert in Dortmund, greetings from Mexico! #UpTheIrons
