I've been wanting to try this with my childhood DS Lite because it has a cracked hinge but I'm scared to death to try it. It always looks so easy in the videos. Nonetheless, great tutorial. Maybe one day I'll give it a shot.
That would be awesome! I know how you feel though, when I first started out, I was so worried I'd break something or tear the ribbon cables. I have a way that I like to fix cracked hinges that actually doesn't involve fully disassembling the DS - it is quite simple! I will probably post a tutorial of how to do so sometime soon :) and I'm just saying this in case, I do actually have a repair service listing on eBay where I fix hinges for around $25. I can link it up just in case you are interested at all! Thank you so much for watching and for the comment!!
@Retro.Revolution please post a video about how to repair the hinge without taking apart everything. I have a ds with a broken hinge and i wanted to put a new case on it, similar to how you did in this video, but so many people are saying that it's super complicated so now i'm a bit scared to do it.
@piagerstner3134 Okay, gotcha! I will! All you need are the tools to disassemble the DS (Philips screwdriver, Y screwdriver), and then some superglue. I use loctite gel, it's super cheap at Walmart. I'll get to making that video soon, will likely be uploaded in around a week!
@Retro.Revolution ah thank you so much! I'm just not sure if that'll work for mine because the plastic isn't just cracked, there's a whole piece missing.
No worries there, it'll still work!! I'll be making the video pretty in depth, for all types of broken hinges (since it can be cracked/broken in some different ways) I'll be sure to show you how in the vid :)
I’ve been debating whether to swap the shell of my old ds lite to fix its broken hinge these past few days. This video definitely gave me hope that I could do it. I found a nice Pokédex design shell by eXtremeRate that I’m looking to use!
@@Retro.Revolution Yeah! I just shell swapped it and it looks amazing! Sadly the ribbon cable for the top screen is torn ever so slightly so it was just a white screen. And now the ds isn't booting, dunno if the digitizer is causing issues. I had some trouble flipping it up when reshelling. Those shoulder buttons were quite tough to set right, I would be able to get the R one but the L one would not stay put lol. You should definitely try out the case sometime tho! Its amazing!
@luvBees yeah dude, thats awesome!! If the bottom screen flashes for a millisecond then the DS shuts off, then the top screen ribbon cable got torn too much. And a new one will fix it up :) the digitizer won't cause any issue with that so no worries there! But 100% good job man. When I was new to fixing DS' i broke so many things 😂
@@Retro.Revolution Lol I dont got anything to solder with so ill prob have to get a new top screen with speakers to fix it up sometime. When I try to turn it on the top screen flashes for a sec but then it shuts off not the bottom screen so idk whats up with it. When I flipped the digitizer back I flicked a piece of black plastic that probably kept the ribbon in place away and it flew somewhere. I might try to reassemble it and add a piece of electrical tap to strengthen where the board meets the digitizer.
DUDE you're TOO good at this, I get so nervous about damaging these tiny things. Can I send you a floppy hinged DS Lite for repair? I'll send parts and a new shell!
Thank youuu!!! You absolutely can! I do everything on eBay for the time being, just look up my store. It's nintendo_ds_4sale. I have a listing for a service that repairs customer's broken hinges - just send me a message on eBay through that listing, and we can figure something out! For a whole shell swap/custom shell swap job, I usually charge $50, since it usually takes a little while to do it all.
@@Retro.Revolution I was crying laughing because I kept second guessing it but tried it, alas I did follow through with the reshell, disappointing but eh, YOU GOT ME F UP LOL
very nice video, Id recommend instead of trimming edges off the button to just take a small piece of sandpaper and roll it up and rotate it inside the button hole location may be a bit beter than turning your circle into an octagon button😅 nice video and going to be doing full shell sway soon too.
Great video! I have a question. I tried reassembling and the L button is physically stuck down as if constantly pressed, it's even pressed against the housing. What can I do?
the hero i asked for lol i just got back playin on my old ds lite and wanted to do a shell swap and replace the screen covers because they turned yellow :D
Yoooo, pog! Sounds like an awesome project! So, the screens on your DS Lite are kinda yellow tinted? Do they get more white towards the bottom of the LCD?
@@Retro.Revolutionfor the top screen it’s the glass that actually yellow and for the bottom it’s the touchscreen (digitizer?) idk how it’s called but i ordered the parts and now i’m just waiting for them to arrive
Gotcha gotcha. So, from my experience, it's never the lens of the screens that yellow (the digitizer for the bottom screen, and the top lens for the top screen), it's actually the LCD screens themselves... you might have to replace those to make the yellowing go away. Just a heads up Either way, it'll be super fun to get your DS back up and looking nice! Replacing the top screen lens and the digitizer will remove all scratches, so they'll be nice and mint 👌
"So now, I always lift up the wifi chip and yank it" fucking YEEEEEET the hell out of it Hahahahahahaha The shell looks gorgeous. Definitely have this in my saved videos for when I go to swap mine
Alright, so i thought i was really doing everything well, now the issue lies with turning it on, it turns on for a split second and then immediately entirely shuts off. Do you have any idea what the issue might be? No ripped orange parts etc. This time
@Osbjoey Which screen flashes white when this happens? Whichever screen is flashing, the opposite screen either isn't plugged in fully, or has a tear somewhere. For example if it's the bottom screen that's flashing, then the top screen isn't plugged in OR has a tear somewhere along the ribbon cable... let me know what you find!
@Retro.Revolution I've put the orange strip in after taking it out, and it seems to work now, just have to assemble the rest, thanks a lot! Will keep you updated when finished
@Retro.Revolution alright, we have a finished product now, (almost) fully functioning, just the green light doesn't turn on, for the rest everything works perfectly fine, I did run into a couple of issue, touch screen not working so had to use another one, the L and R buttons were difficult to put it but eventually worked out, in the end I'm just happy it worked out, thanks a whole lot for your video as it has been incredibly helpful
I've had a DS Lite for years sitting unused because of a broken hinge. I've wanted to try shell swapping it for a while. Ever since the system was new, it has had an issue where over half of the top screen turns white when the system is partially opened. I also want to fix this too. Could this be a problem where maybe the top screen ribbon cable isn't properly installed, or is it damaged and in need of replacement? Would I have to replace the entire screen or just the ribbon cable?
That's most likely due to a torn top screen cable. It'd be nice if it were simply seated incorrectly, but that's almost never the case. I know you said that this issue started ever since it was new, but it's super common for damage to the top screen to come at the same time the hinge breaks. Either way, you'd need to replace the entire top LCD; unfortunately, even if it's only the ribbon cable that's bad, it's embedded into the LCD and is impossible to fix it without replacing the whole screen. A sad design flaw, because perfect top LCD's are rare to come by these days due to yellowing or dead pixels
i broke 1 of the 2 latch on the board for the bottom screen it's the smaller one near the wifi board. i dont know what to do lol. do i need to get a new board or is there something i can do ?
Good video explaining how to change the case. Tried it and after about 1000 times putting back the trigger buttons which keep coming apart. Just put everything back and sell it cheap on ebay.
I'd be glad to fix it up for you if you'd like, it'd probably be $30, but I totally understand your frustration. If you want to sell it on eBay anyway send me a link, I'd be glad to pick it up!
@@Retro.Revolution Thanks for the offer. I brought a bunch of good working DS Lite a few years ago and kept them. This one is just to play around with to learn. I sold this last night.
Hey man I know it's a long shot and you might not respond but I recently did a reshell (clear) to my childhood DS LITE, doing the first time I broke the top screen's flex cable and patiently waited for a new screen to arrive. assembled all the parts and it turned out my bottom screen has liquid damage too so now need to get the bottom screen also. But the thing is the first time I closed the shell all buttons were responsive, the second and the last time when I did today, the button A stopped responding, not fully I mean I can still click it sometimes when I torture the button.... What do you think might be the issue, hand grease or something like that? What should I do?
Hey there!! Awesome dedication and patience, I'll help, you can get it working! So for abxy and dpad buttons, they can get pretty stubborn sometimes if any gunk or even any dust particles get in the way of the gold contact and the black circular part of the gray rubber membranes. I'm 100% certain that's the case with this, so just open it back up, get some sand paper or sharp precise tweezers, and sand/scrape the A button contact. One you've scraped or sanded it a decent bit, then clean it off, and then clean off the black circle parts of the gray rubber membrane as well. Then you can reassemble and it should work like a charm! I made a video on how exactly to do this, so just in case here's a link to that: ua-cam.com/video/czLFu68GAbo/v-deo.htmlsi=LPji-W2Qdeckl5ch
@@Retro.Revolution I have watched at least 5 videos of you like 10 times each. Basically what I did is after toring apart the flex on my first try I was really devastated so for learning something like a muscle memory I just assumed I need to autistically watch ds lite repair videos as much as possible and I found your channel by chance. Your explanations on videos are the most in dept I have seen in UA-cam. I think I did a great job since the videos really helped a lot (I think I have spent 10+hours watching them on the past 1 week whenever I had a chance) I know what you have described since I already watched those videos where you do this. I just wanted to make sure because this is really devastating. One last and weird question, The TOP screen that I have bought is really weird. It has this weird flex cable port where the speaker solder parts are. I have never seen this on any reshelling videos. The top screens people (and you) use, whenever it's OEM or aftermarket ones never have this so I just didnt understand what was happening. it works though, the flex cable fits tightly but just weird. Can you tell me what the heck it can be?
@@Retro.Revolution One sad thnig is until I get the bottom screen I can only play on the TMNT game which is a bummer, I dont have an exflash and I found out that I also somehow broke the touchscreen on the bottom part too (I have no idea how, I didnt torn the flex apart on that.) I have found out that I sadly lost my Mario game and 5 other games and only three games I could find were the TMNT, Metroid and the Starfox. Bummer since both metroid and starfox needs the touchscreen to play it. DS lite was my first device and I got it in 2007 as a 7th birthday gift. Checking all these consoles now, I understand how much I hate the double screen/touchscreen gameplays. I just want to get a ezflash so I can just play the cult classic gba games such as super mario, wario, metroid, castlevania and the pokemons. Your videos are awesome thank you very much. Because of you I got into these stuff more and I also want to make a IPS modded GBA now (dont have a body for this but will get.)
I'm much of the same kind of learner, I did pretty much the same exact thing when I was getting into DS repairs years ago. Awesome job so far though man, you got dis!😎let me know how fixing the A button goes whenever you get around to it! And that's really strange, I may have seen something similar, is what you got for the top screen basically just a ribbon cable, that the speakers solder into, and that another screen plugs into? Like it has a screen connector on the lil flex cable itself?
@@Retro.Revolution Yeah basically is has this weird flex connector on the top screens flex cable. I forgot to take a picture and the top shell assembly was sooooo bad I was nearly breaking some pins on the sides so dont get me wrong but if you wont put a gun into my head you cannot make me open that shit up again only to take a picture (lol). It's just weird that I dont understand why this screen is made like this because I have never seen such a screen before on any YT videos (btw any instagram so I can send you a DM so can send you pics)
Yes! I'll try my best to explain; both pieces have little latches that basically lock together as you slide them on. However, on brand new shells, especially cheaper ones, sometimes these latches will be bent in, resulting in the top plate not wanting to slide on. You can use any type of metal tool to either unbend them, or to remove them. You don't really need the latches, since the screws do the trick anyway.
@Nman4PF aw I'm sorry:( there's no way to repair a top screen once the ribbon cable is torn, definitely the biggest design flaw for these DS Lites. So I suppose the best thing to do is to buy a new top screen (brand new ones will need you to solder speakers onto them, so if you can't solder or if you don't have a soldering iron, then you'd need to buy a top screen on eBay with new speakers already soldered in place) Or you could try to find a broken ds lite that has a good top screen and then use that top screen to fix your ds - I'd recommend looking for a ds lite that's listed as for parts or repair, but that has a bad bottom screen or a bad motherboard (bad buttons, bad shell, bad ds cartridge reader, etc). That way you can find an authentic, original top screen with speakers soldered - it could end up being cheaper than a top screen with pre-soldered speakers! I definitely recommend ebay :)
Do you know if I can easily replace the shell from my DS Lite even if it has been modified? It’s got a chip to be able to play games from the GBA Slot. :)
I've honestly never heard of that mod before, but as long as there isn't anything non-removable sticking out of the GBA slot then you should be totally good to shell swap!
I still have a functioning DSlite white one from 2006. It broke at the hinge while another broke at the recharge and wifi bit. THe one with the hinge was where the top part is "loosey goosey" Just needs a tab to prevent the top part fall forward or back. I also need to learn how to remove just the shell to clean parts that are "dirty". Lets just say white stains easily.
Extreme Rate! They're on eBay and Aliexpress. Just make sure it's an extreme rare branded shell and it'll be amazing :) they don't have the Nintendo logo on the top plate of the DS Lite, and they have no text on the bottom plate. An easy way to tell them apart!
Hey man!! I’m thinking of doing a case swap and this one looks great but I’ve seen many online that don’t close correctly. Do you have any recommendations for avoiding that?
Yes I do, go for an Extremerate shell! Just look up "extremerate ds lite shell" on eBay or Aliexpress and they'll come up. They have lots of cool colors and options to choose from, and they are the closest to OEM quality! Any other cheaper, no name 3rd party shells are much lower quality and normally don't close correctly. But extreme rate shells do!
Update: with your tutorial I was easily able to swap shells. I was hesitant on replacing the top screen panel tho. Can you make an in depth guide on just that? Like how to align it perfectly and how to prevent dust particles in between? Would be grateful!
I did the just yank it approach on the wifi chip and you absolutely can damage the wire doing it. At least I did. Do you know what I should order to replace that? Wire separated from the connector.
Well that's not epic man I'm sorry about that, I should have gone with the old fashioned way for this guide You can find them on eBay for cheap, I also sell them on my website for super cheap
Of course! It's half extreme rate and half used Nintendo. The extreme rate shells are suuuuper duper high quality, on par with Nintendo quality. And you can find them on eBay! They're around $23 per shell, last I checked
Thank you for the answer, eBay for my country (Brazil) is not very good, but I saw that they have an official store on Aliexpress, your feedback about the brand is very good, thank you, I will be purchasing from them and I will use your tutorial to make the exchange, success and thank you very much!
One of the wires of the speaker is likely pinch underneath the metal part of the top screen - I'd open up the top part of the DS (remove the 4 rubber pads and 4 screws, and slide snd lift off the top plate) and then make sure the red snd black speaker wires are free and aren't being pinched!
@@Retro.Revolution i found a pinched spot wow so the ribbon cable for top screen has a slit tear and the screen is still static maybe i torn it when putting back together is a a easy fix or where can i get a replacement?
@NNS_FEEDER aw man, that's super unfortunate! But you can find top screen replacements on eBay/ Ali express for $15 dollars for a brand new screen. If they're brand new though, then you'll need to solder the old speakers to the new top screen. There's a seller on eBay that sells them pre-attached already though for around $22 I believe
@@Retro.Revolution Seems like my best bet Thank You for your time!! For my first time i cant be mad maybe one day ill come across one with a good ribbon cable and bad screen so ill hold on to it
@NNS_FEEDER of course!! And, well, the unfortunate thing is that the ribbon cable is mended to the LCD, so even if the LCD is good, if the ribbon cable tears then it's basically bad and there's no way to fix it or to make use of the LCD (even though it's good besides the torn cable) But, great job for doing the swap regardless of the slight tear in the top screen! 👏 and good luck swapping the top screen out with a good one!:)
… I followed everything and my WiFi card’s cable somehow snapped when I tried to snake it under the card reader. And then when it came out it was broken. Is there any way to fix this? Or replace it.
Aw man.. You can certainly replace it, I sell them for cheap on my website, you can only repair it if it's the cable that got torn in half - in that case you can twist the wires together and then put electrical tape around. If the golden tip of it got torn off then there isn't a way to fix it, only replace 😬 I'm sorry that happened!!
@@Retro.Revolution it’s okay, thanks for responding so quickly. Where can I buy the cable? Also is there a way I can send you pictures of my console so you can help me find why the screen is not powering on? It just flashes and everything else is in immaculate condition including the screen.
Here's a link, you can buy 3 for $3 here on my website, it'll be around $8 after shipping: retrorevolution.shop/products/nintendo-ds-lite-wi-fi-bios-chip-oem-nintendo-fully-working-copy And yes! My insta is _retro_revolution_ if you'd like to message me and show me there. However, if a single screen is flashing really quickly and the console shuts off, then it means the opposite screen isn't plugged on fully or has a torn/damaged ribbon cable. For example if you flip the DS power switch, the light comes on, but then the bottom screen flashes really quickly and then the DS shuts off, it means the top screen either isn't plugged in fully, or has a tear in the ribbon cable... I'd definitely recommend to see if it's plugged in fully, I'll also be able to tell you if you send a picture!
i’ve been following so many tutorials but something is wrong with my ds lite… the screen flashes white when i try to turn it on and i can’t even get the shoulders/back on correctly…
Which screen is flashing? Whichever one it is, means that the opposite screen either isn't plugged in fully, or has a tear in the ribbon cable somewhere. For example if it's the bottom screen, then the top screen might not be plugged in fully. And for the shoulder buttons, they can definitely be tricky. The springs aren't 100% required though, you can just put the metal rod in place, and then put the shoulder button right on top of that, to help make it easier:)
@@Retro.Revolutionthe bottom one is. i was very careful moving the ribbon and it looks to be plugged in all the way so i don’t know what’s going on. i might try the shoulders without the springs cause those are a pain. gonna bring it in to a repair shop to see if they can help but i really hope i didn’t break it 🤞
Gotcha. Well I hope it's all good! Let me know what the repair shop says or quotes you. I'd be more than happy to take a look at your DS and to get it fixed up :)
@@Retro.Revolutionthey said they didn’t know and didn’t give me an estimate cause they said it fluctuates… if you’re actually willing to help repair it and have a decent price, sure! i’m still looking for a job atm so it might be a while until i have some money. might be best for me to just buy a 3ds to mod but i’d love to get this one up and running again cause it’s special to me.
I would LOVE this configuration but with a White Doner Nintendo Shell (in all the places you used the Black Shell), Clear Green Inner Shell (in all the places you used clear blue), black buttons and screen borders. Can you build me one?
@@Retro.Revolution i did just try unplugging and plugging back in the top screen ribbon cable, and it doesn’t look damaged under a magnifying glass, but I’m not sure 🤷🏻♂️ thinking de assemble the lot and start again maybe 🤷🏻♂️ otherwise I have a ds with dead pixels on top screen, maybe can try plugging that in 🤷🏻♂️
@ClubsOG Okay so that means 1 of 2 things; 1; Either the top screen isn't plugged into its connector the whole way (make sure it's all the way in), or 2; the ribbon cable is torn just enough for the screen to not work. When a screen's ribbon cable is torn, or when the screen isn't plugged in all the way, it will cause the console to fail to turn and it causes the opposite screen to flash very quickly. Really hoping it's 1 but either way amazing job for completing the reshell!
@ClubsOG Got it, if I were you I'd take it apart again and inspect the top screen cable to see if there's a noticeable tear anywhere along either edge. If not, then yeah I'd definitely try the top lcd with dead pixels!
😂😂 well thank you! At this point, I may as well have..lol. I've fixed a few thousand of these so far, it's been my job for the last 3 years:) I love it!
@@MonikaSwjust tried my first swap and also replaced the top screen and planned to replace the bottom screen later and the bottom flickers only and then turns off
@dummyhardball2953 I gotchu, try to check the little WiFi chip - if it isn't plugged in right, then the system won't turn on - the green light will come up but it'll never click and won't fully turn on
Aww oh no bro! So the bottom screen flashes for a millisecond and then the console shuts off? You're so right tho, the aftermarket shells from China really suck. Whatever the case is with your DS, I can fix it for you if you would like! I'll drop an ebay link if interested, just let me know :)
Ipa does _not_ work. Trust me, I've tried, every single time the buttons still did not reliably work. It does not ruin the gold contact pads, all it does is clean off all of the sticky and resistant gunk that is what made the buttons not work in the first place. It isn't the prettiest thing but it's the most dependable solution to fix these buttons :)
@@Retro.Revolution I don't mean to correct you, but it's actually the black button pads that need cleaned with a magic eraser. The conductive material gunks up overtime. You removed the gold plating which affects longevity and appearance. Unless they are horribly corroded there is just no need to do it that way

For a whole shell swap/custom shell swap job, I usually charge $50, since it usually takes a little while to do it all.

very nice video, Id recommend instead of trimming edges off the button to just take a small piece of sandpaper and roll it up and rotate it inside the button hole location may be a bit beter than turning your circle into an octagon button😅 nice video and going to be doing full shell sway soon too.

That would be so awesome. Good idea 💡 😎
I'm glad you like it, thank you!! 😆
the hero i asked for lol i just got back playin on my old ds lite and wanted to do a shell swap and replace the screen covers because they turned yellow :D
Just a heads up
Either way, it'll be super fun to get your DS back up and looking nice! Replacing the top screen lens and the digitizer will remove all scratches, so they'll be nice and mint 👌
"So now, I always lift up the wifi chip and yank it"
fucking YEEEEEET the hell out of it
Hahahahahahaha
The shell looks gorgeous.
@@Osbjoey Soinds awesome man please do, amazing job!!!
Nice video. Was wondering where you got that sweet shell from.
Thank you! I love mixing Nintendo parts with extremerate and creating a cool custom console:)
@@songsan807 Gotcha, I understand. That's cool! Of course :)
I'm sooo close but I can't reconnect my digitizer because the plastic lever is missing....... What do I do!
Hey uh, I tried to do a shell replacement, and the top shell pices wont snap together, got any sugestions
Don't worry I fixed the issue!@@Retro.Revolution
I ripped the top screen ribbon cable while trying to take out the top screen :(( Any suggestions?
@Nman4PF aw I'm sorry:( there's no way to repair a top screen once the ribbon cable is torn, definitely the biggest design flaw for these DS Lites. So I suppose the best thing to do is to buy a new top screen (brand new ones will need you to solder speakers onto them, so if you can't solder or if you don't have a soldering iron, then you'd need to buy a top screen on eBay with new speakers already soldered in place)
Or you could try to find a broken ds lite that has a good top screen and then use that top screen to fix your ds - I'd recommend looking for a ds lite that's listed as for parts or repair, but that has a bad bottom screen or a bad motherboard (bad buttons, bad shell, bad ds cartridge reader, etc). That way you can find an authentic, original top screen with speakers soldered - it could end up being cheaper than a top screen with pre-soldered speakers!
I definitely recommend ebay :)
@@Retro.Revolution thank you so much, i will try this. i was so bummed but now i’m determined to fix it
Do you know if I can easily replace the shell from my DS Lite even if it has been modified? It’s got a chip to be able to play games from the GBA Slot. :)
I've honestly never heard of that mod before, but as long as there isn't anything non-removable sticking out of the GBA slot then you should be totally good to shell swap!
@@Retro.Revolutionokay thank you. I’ll open it up and try it.
I still have a functioning DSlite white one from 2006. It broke at the hinge while another broke at the recharge and wifi bit.
THe one with the hinge was where the top part is "loosey goosey"
Just needs a tab to prevent the top part fall forward or back.
I also need to learn how to remove just the shell to clean parts that are "dirty". Lets just say white stains easily.
Whered you buy the shell from? Trying to replace mine but scared of all the horror stories of bad replacment shells.
Extreme Rate! They're on eBay and Aliexpress. Just make sure it's an extreme rare branded shell and it'll be amazing :) they don't have the Nintendo logo on the top plate of the DS Lite, and they have no text on the bottom plate. An easy way to tell them apart!
@@Retro.Revolution thank you
What type of liquid do you use for cleaning? Alcohol?
Where did you got this shell?
The clear blue is from Extreme Rate, I believe it's called Ocean Blue. And the black pieces are Nintendo shell parts that I had :)
Update: with your tutorial I was easily able to swap shells. I was hesitant on replacing the top screen panel tho. Can you make an in depth guide on just that? Like how to align it perfectly and how to prevent dust particles in between? Would be grateful!
I dont know why, when I try to pit on the back of the shell, it doesnt close. I tried re placing the microphone wire, but it wont close
I did the just yank it approach on the wifi chip and you absolutely can damage the wire doing it. At least I did. Do you know what I should order to replace that? Wire separated from the connector.
Well that's not epic man I'm sorry about that, I should have gone with the old fashioned way for this guide
You can find them on eBay for cheap, I also sell them on my website for super cheap
Could you tell me if the quality of this shell is good and tell me where you bought it? thanks
Of course! It's half extreme rate and half used Nintendo. The extreme rate shells are suuuuper duper high quality, on par with Nintendo quality. And you can find them on eBay! They're around $23 per shell, last I checked
Thank you for the answer, eBay for my country (Brazil) is not very good, but I saw that they have an official store on Aliexpress, your feedback about the brand is very good, thank you, I will be purchasing from them and I will use your tutorial to make the exchange, success and thank you very much!
where can I get quality shells for my DS Lite?
Anywhere that sells Extreme Rate shells. They're on eBay :)
@@Retro.Revolution thank you! i’ll take a look, im gonna need another project once im done building my ultimate GBA

I doubt you will see this comment, but what kind of screwdriver do you use? The blue electric one? Thanks!
Extremerate has awesome looking shells. Unfortunately they don't have one in green which I desire. Emerald just doesn't cut it for me.
Yeahhh I totally get that. They just came out with some new shells, so hopefully they'll always be coming out with new colors!
Great video! so i did this and my top screen going crazy with static and static noises when turned on what did i do wrong?
For my first time i cant be mad maybe one day ill come across one with a good ribbon cable and bad screen so ill hold on to it
@NNS_FEEDER of course!!
And, well, the unfortunate thing is that the ribbon cable is mended to the LCD, so even if the LCD is good, if the ribbon cable tears then it's basically bad and there's no way to fix it or to make use of the LCD (even though it's good besides the torn cable)
But, great job for doing the swap regardless of the slight tear in the top screen! 👏 and good luck swapping the top screen out with a good one!:)
thank you!

this worked now i can drift my ass off in mario kart ds
Here's a link, you can buy 3 for $3 here on my website, it'll be around $8 after shipping: retrorevolution.shop/products/nintendo-ds-lite-wi-fi-bios-chip-oem-nintendo-fully-working-copy
And yes! Did yours also break or what
i’ve been following so many tutorials but something is wrong with my ds lite… the screen flashes white when i try to turn it on and i can’t even get the shoulders/back on correctly…

@ClubsOG Okay so that means 1 of 2 things;
1; Either the top screen isn't plugged into its connector the whole way (make sure it's all the way in), or
2; the ribbon cable is torn just enough for the screen to not work.

Ipa does _not_ work. Trust me, I've tried, every single time the buttons still did not reliably work.
