Well done Andy. Negative splits are definitely the way to go. That feeling of finishing strong at the end of a race is a great feeling. Big confidence booster for Brighton.
Cheers mate. None of my long runs have gone anywhere near as races so I'm hoping to pinch the mindset from Sunday and hope the training will kick in.👍🏻
@@itsonandy definitely not, I'm at the podium 5k on Saturday, there's three people in my wave that are faster than me but running up to my target pace, so hopefully I can hang with them!
Well done Andy! Love your energy and enthusiasm for running and making these videos. I didn’t realise part of the course was on the sand, that’s pretty unusual for a half 😀 Brilliant pacing that will no doubt be the best thing to take from this race. Having that control early on in the marathon will give you the best chance a great race. Enjoy the taper and keep up the great work 👍
That's great advice Rachel - thanks! I'm not sure I'll be able to successfully plan a race for a distance that I've never covered before, but last Sunday has given me confidence for sure! I enjoyed your Warwick video - so impressed with your discipline and speed!
Just found your channel and have subscribed - so plenty to watch over the next couple of weeks. I was at Weston for the same race and really enjoyed it too. I'm quite new to races but am trying to experience as many half and full marathons as possible. I think you'd enjoy the Oxford half which is handy for a midlands lad. Love your infectious enthusiasm for running and best of luck for the Manchester marathon.
Hi mate. It was a great race but with so many events to choose from I'm trying to do as many different events as possible. This year I've done the Grizzly run and Liverpool half and have lined up the Hartland heartbreaker, Exeter marathon, Padstow half and Yorkshire marathon...will probably enter either Cheltenham or Worcester half as well. I'm based down in Devon now but grew up in Worcestershire so always happy to come back to midlands to do a race and see family and friends. Great videos Andy 😀
Get involved next year Gez! Driving and parking round there was easy, and the event was quite small compared to other ones. A really unique one to run!
I'm not familiar with that race but I know AC - I'm sure the crowds will be out in force. For my first ever one, I started out too fast, struggled at 10 miles till 12.9 then the last little bit I seemed to float on air as the crowds carried me over the line! I'm sure you'll love it, and whatever happens you'll make some life long memories. All the best mate!
@@itsonandy I appreciate the advice Andy! I will definitely try & pace myself. I'm sure the crowd will be good like you said. Looking forward to more of your videos !
@@itsonandy Just an update Andy: finished my 1st ever half marathon earlier today. My goal was to be under 2 hrs & 20 min. I finished in 2 hrs & 15 minutes, so I am pretty excited. It was raining too almost the whole time, so that kinda sucked lol.
@@itsonandy yeah I’m running Brighton. Had planned to run before COVID happened so chomping at the bit to get down to the start line now. Countdown begins!
Thanks!!! Feeling really pleased with how it went - I want all of my races to go that well, something tells me that it won't be like that in Brighton...
well done, got my first marathon april 10th too, so been following with interest. Our times are very similar but had covid a couple of weeks ago and felt a bit lethargic recently.
That sounds tough Chris - maybe reassess your goals... I can imagine your lungs and fitness has changed a bit! I hope that you've made a full recovery!
It was really cool! The sand wasnt as tough as youd imagine, on the way back it was a lot harder as lots of people had run through it, twice! Awesome though to run by the sea 😎
Good job Andy. Remember that self control at the start of the marathon. It is so important not to get carried away and run too fast at the start. I think you should use your first marathon as a learning experience and prepare to be a little flexible. I hear that the Brighton marathon can be quite tough. Lets hope they get the distance right this year. All the best.
Well done Andy. The next step in feeling like a runner will be when you say ‘I’m going to add a 3 mile up warm up and 3 mile cool down to top up the mileage’ 😂 Good luck at Brighton
Love your channel. Your determination and authenticity really comes through.
Thanks so much - I just love talking about running 😎
Well done Andy. Negative splits are definitely the way to go. That feeling of finishing strong at the end of a race is a great feeling. Big confidence booster for Brighton.
It was a very well executed race plan! I Don't think I ever negative split anything, but I (nearly) always can dig deep and have a kick at the end!
Cheers mate. None of my long runs have gone anywhere near as races so I'm hoping to pinch the mindset from Sunday and hope the training will kick in.👍🏻
You cant beat that feeling of clapping eyes on the finish line and going hell for leather 💪🏻

Well done Andy. You are in great form and you’ll have a fantastic race in Brighton.
Thanks Douglas - I'm certainly feeling better lately! Cheers 😎
Well done Andy , we did WSHalf last year and found the undulating part near the end a real challenge. Congratulations, love the enthusiasm.
Thanks Claire. That section was pure evil in places! Also that hill going out of Weston-super-Mare about mile 9 wasn't far off...
Great time for you though and good luck in Brighton.
Great running Andy! I have thought about running Weston Super Mare half myself, will look in to it for next yesterday!

Awesome job Andy, another great time!!! My 1st half marathon is in 2 days. Super excited. I may try the negative splits like you.
Good luck Joe! Which one you doing?

That's the way to do it! You're a proper runner now, Andy 😁 The weather looked decent. We've got snow in Derbyshire today 🥶
The weather here has since turned and has gone so cold too! Hoping for better weather down south next week!

Looks like a really nice half marathon, there’s not many events where you run on a beach 😀 🏖 .

Yes I hope the distance is right this year as I dont fancy running a yard further than I have to! Cheers mate 🙌🏻
Look like a great run and well done on pulling off your plan.
Cheers mate! So pleased with the way it went. Running in the spring sunshine is just amazing 😎
Well done Andy 👏 I do love the enthusiasm "I feel like a runner" 😁 you most definitely are a runner 👍

Well done. That was a really cool race video. So glad you managed to reel in the lady in orange during the hero’s dash at the finish.
Hahaha - no chance I was I letting myself get done on the last 100m after not being overtaken for an hour! Thanks for watching ❤
