We lost a great man when Wes Craven left this world. Let's honor him by watching his masterpieces in memory of him. I'm watching the hills have eyes for the first time as I type this. RIP wes. Thank you for the special form of entertainment you have left for the world to enjoy.
@@Tommyblueeyes Honestly bro. I don't think anyone needs to read what you wrote? This guy commented and it was pretty positive. No one needs to read the kind of shit you wrote. Seriously.
A BRILIANT horror movie...saw it at the cinema in 1978, I was 19......it really disturbed me at the time.....the shooting scene in the caravan....it still shakes me up and I'm 58.....
In 1977 a bunch of us high school kids piled in a friends car and he said he wanted to go to the drive in theatre. So we all go to the drive in, not knowing what was playing, anyway, we get halfway through the film, we were all asking our pal with the car, "what kind of movie did you take us to?"... It was The Hills Have Eyes...
Still gives me chills to this day, one of my favourite films of all time. Rip Wes Craven. Peter Locke played mercury who got pushed off the cliff by beast.
I'm ashamed to admit that when I first saw the movie as a teenager, I thought Michael Berryman was wearing prosthetics or makeup-I didn't realise he really looked the way he did because of birth defects. A really good actor though, and seems like a very sweet, smart guy.
I remember seeing TV adverts for this in 1977 - I was eight years old at the time. They were damn scary, but I so wanted to see the film. It wasn't until home video in 1984 that I finally got to see it (I was 15 by that point) and I absolutely loved it. One of the greatest 'manic' horror films of the 70s. Up there with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
eh, the watermark is annoying, but I thoroughly enjoyed watching this right after watching the film on YT. Craven seems to have been a really interesting, albeit soft spoken man, and this was the first time I've ever seen Berryman speak out of character ( that is - not as a weirdo). Thanks for posting this.
It kinda sucks that Michael Berryman didn't get anymore dope ass roles after this movie in my opinion he deserves the starring role in his own amazing horror film. If anything they should've at least hit him up for the remake and the sequel.
Such an underrated film franchise these movies (specially the remake) should be up there with Friday The 13th, Halloween, Scream and Nightmare On Elm Street.
this is classic horror, I am glad to have watched them all and love this story. I like the reboots much better but this is it great directing and characters, hope they have another movie soon. cheerz to the gorehounds of the world.
I felt bad for when Pluto got attacked by the dog and when he got attacked by the dog the 2nd time and the dog actually killed him in the movie, so it feels better to hear the actor of Pluto himself, Michael Berryman, tell his take on those scenes.
Loved this movie so edge of the seat stuff and the make up on the mutants was really good Wes Craven is a great director also loved the remake too and Kadus to Michael Berryman he is awesome in the movie I loved him as Pluto he was my favourite mutant also when Pluto was on the CB radio talking and pretending to be help he cracked me up but a great movie
James Whitworth (Papa Jupiter) moved to my hometown in southwest Iowa back in the early 80s for awhile. Was kinda cool seeing him around in a town of only 1,200 people.
Fantastic movie I love this thing it is so creative and beautiful. Wes Craven is a total genius but not just that the whole acting and portrayal of this family is great. Across-the-board not a bad performance. What an awesome film I love this thing.
Pretty sure Tobe Hooper's The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was more of an inspiration for this film than was ever admitted. It's basically the same thing in a different location. And no agent is going to tell you not to do a horror movie especially if you're an unknown actor.
The first one was badass when it came out back 15 year's ago 2005 remember the name of it hills have eyes and the wrong turn when it came out back in 2004 and 2006
The 1977 original is one of the best horror films ever, remake was ok but if u a real horror fan u know what the originals 9 time's out of ten are better than the remakes.. wrong turn was pretty good but without the original hills have eyes it probably wouldn't have been made.
They should make a hills have eyes 4 that takes place in pripyat. A tour would visit, and get attacked by mutants who were radiation victims that didn't evacuate
Cool! And though they said it so it’s probably true, 120F in the day and 30F to 40F at night doesn’t sound plausible. Maybe a high of 110F in the day and 50F to 60F at night, or a high of 120F in the day and a low of 60F to 70F at night, sounds more believable.
I remember Wes quoting Eddie Murphy, when he first met him. Murphy walked up to Craven and said: "Baby's fat. You fat... fat and juicy." He was apparently a big fan of the film. :D
The thing I can't get behind with Wes in regards to these first two movies, is that he is just bluntly wrong about the morality of it all. Killing people like Mars and Krug is in no way even remotely evil especially if your family is the ones your avenging. The whole idea of Doug giving into his inner evil is an insane take because it's not evil to kill someone who was going to kill your children.
Well I’m probably a fucked up individual because I didn’t find this movie scary or disturbing at all. Tbh, scariest movies I’ve seen might be The Possession but even then, wasn’t scared. Only time I get scared is from my nightmares and I always welcome nightmares. Anyways, this as a cool little Docu. Never would’ve seen it but I was bored while I’m the shower and had this playing. Love the dedication of the entire crew as well. Always shows in the work.

Think this is closer to the legend of the Beans in bread mutants living in caves eating humans that pass not the remake that was to do with the nuclear testing yet liked that story too and though I think only Pluto looked deformed rest looked normal in the original the make up of the mutated humans looked awesome in the remake I love both movies but love Michael as Pluto the best yet the other guy was good too
