OK i found the smashville song its called life in the mines remix(WIP) on youtube apparently started on DKC atlas forums and is on SockputtetRemix channel.
He uses a mixture of both to DI. The Bair on when he is going horizontal or flying across the screen fast and uses Dair to do a fast fall and using his Dair to momentum cancel going up. At least that is what I can see and I could be wrong. Either way he is a master of DI.
Down air causes you to automatically fast fall. Fast falling is the highest amount of momentum slowing outside of moves that completely stop your character. He wasn't using it to DI, he was using it to slow his momentum.
@RedxWolfxFangus There is no other way for an Ike to approach. He can't go into the air all the time cause one Marth is just better in the ir and two by doing the same thing over and over, he'll get read like a book and thats worse. He can only approach in the air with fair and after a while that just won't work
i think i forgot to mention one part about the short hopping. what i really meant about the constant short hopping is like i see marth just continuously short hopping when he's at a safe distance away from ike. like both players are across the screen and marth is just jumping around. short hopping for attacks is a great technique because i use it all the time but if you're doing it for no reason its just weird. you can pretty muck see what's coming. just short hop when necessary.
you know i beat super mario sunshine like a million times and not once did i ever see FE characters fighting on a flying platform that went around the island...
well i guess in my way i don't take baits but its pretty easy to prevent being punished because Ike has tremendously big hit boxes with majority of his attacks and he can use that to attack at a safe distance if he uses Ike's attacks at its maximum range. also got to time it after each jump.
the brain doesnt work that way. Marth has until the end of his jump to throw out an aerial. if someone is expecting an aerial or feeling pressured, then threat of the fair can keep them in shield. human reaction time on average is like 12 frames, but if you are looking for something its exponentially better. However if someone mixes it up, more often than not your reaction to that particular event will be even slower. Anyone whose played a game on a competitive level like Dekar173 knows that.
It's an RAR-->JC usmash RAR = When you're running, right before you jump, you press the opposite direction. That way you jump facing the other way. JC usmash = jump cancelled-usmash. Hold up, press jump, press A immediately after, the jump cancels and you usmash instead.
i think that constant short hopping is pretty much useless for marth because it doesnt really do much and i dont think it can fool your opponent very well if you use some technique with it. its only good with characters like falco mostly. but with marth is pretty much nothing, sure you can fast fall and do down tilt or do reverse aerial but if your opponent has a sharp eye then its predictable.
i already know that and its great when he uses his Bair which can go into Fair. I don't know who else can do that but it's an awesome feature. Marth does have one the best air games but for me i prefer Lucario more because it suits me more and i try to be good with Marth but he doesn't suit my style much. i'll say he's my 5th best even though i don't use all the time but i'm alright with him.
i think what you're not really seeing here is the empty SHs are really no different than just standing there, the only difference is you're in the air and not on the ground. it's allot like melee DDing. you're moving in a way that changes your options so you can deal with the situation differently and more quickly. there really is no reason NOT to SH as marth in a neutral position because he's so bad ass in the air. watch the opponent react to your SHs (bait) and act accordingly (punish).
its because hes a high lvl competitive player. He understands the idiocy in your post, ( which is okay, you dont play the game on that level so he shouldnt expect you to understand it as such) and hes annoyed cuz theres tons of ppl who are still stuck in this bubble thinking they actually know whats going on while they are casual players.
marth has a myriad of options. he can land close, he can side b and halt his moment fade back with nair which is nearly nonpunishable at the proper range and covers roll towards and spotdodge option. so what youre saying is just flat out wrong. People at your level of play really cant understand the intricacies of the game at the competitive level. I suggest if you are interested you should go to tourneys and build from there. Then things will make more sense to you.
i know about the great air game Marth has but mostly he is short hopping when Ike is far away. he should stand there until Ike gets maybe about half way then start it. well i guess it's just me because like i said before i don't easily take the bait like straight on i approach in a way so that it's useless. i think Ike should find better approaches because in this video he mostly runs straight forward.
That's true about the DI part. But it's better to just fast-fall manually (i.e. You're Link and you just got launched. Instead of that sluggish D-air you fast-fall manually and use B-air). Actually I don't think I should be arguing with you because Ike's D-air has the same amount of frames as his B-air. Oh well, I guess this useless comment is just food for your knowledge I guess?
do you even understand that everyone has a play style that's different. most of the time i see the exact same one with almost every other competitive player. most of the time i see a huge opportunity to use a smash attack in almost every other videos like this one here. could've been a KO but nope had to go for the light attack. many people are too focus of doing attacks that leaves them less vulnerable that they forget to use some powerful attacks when the opportunity is huge.
i played against other people who do the same exact same thing and sometimes even better than the one here in the video. it's so easy to punish them. it's all being smart and tricking your opponent. my best character is ike as well and i use what he's good at which is long hit box attacks with his sword. sometimes you just got to go in there and use that range at your best. one thing you should never do is think how people are skilled by a comment, text, etc.
you serious? someone else actually said that well shit i'm sorry for saying the same thing lol i don't ever read comments just leave mine there and leave lol but if you really think i stole it okay
Brawl is truly a beautiful game.
I was holding my breath for so long. Great skill on both sides.
OK i found the smashville song its called life in the mines remix(WIP) on youtube apparently started on DKC atlas forums and is on SockputtetRemix channel.
@TJKuro my laptop wasn't hooked up to the TV then. Also the song on Delphino sounds like a remix of Yoshi's Story
Actually it seems to be a cross between DKC1 life in the mines and mining melancholy? Its prolly a bunch of them
2nd song is an OC remix called Mario's Tropical Paradise
Still looking for the first
how does mr r dash like that so quickly back and forth at 2:25?
Input a dash in one direction and then input that same dash in another direction after a short pause
okay thank you ill try it!
kenii28 tap forward, break, forward then back really fast after the break
how did mr. R grab th edge so quickly while facing forward at 2:22?
Pretty much just run at the ledge and turn the Stick down in a fluid motion and it works somehow
What's the name of the music in the menu?
it's from the donkey kong country games, it's probably an oc remix as well, does anyone else know the exact title of the first song
The song on smashville i THINK is a remix of mining melancholy from DKC2
omg what's the song on delphino it sounds familiar :P
What's the first song?
What megaman remix is that on character select screen
Mega Man 2 title theme ;)
yea whats the menu song plz

Ryo vs esam should be on your wii if this set is? Or did they not upload it?
whats up with marths icon with the smiling face?
Down air causes you to automatically fast fall. Fast falling is the highest amount of momentum slowing outside of moves that completely stop your character. He wasn't using it to DI, he was using it to slow his momentum.

Both songs are great, especially the 2nd. That one is just ridiculously good.
i think i forgot to mention one part about the short hopping. what i really meant about the constant short hopping is like i see marth just continuously short hopping when he's at a safe distance away from ike. like both players are across the screen and marth is just jumping around. short hopping for attacks is a great technique because i use it all the time but if you're doing it for no reason its just weird. you can pretty muck see what's coming. just short hop when necessary.
It's not D: The song around 7:30 is Western Land from Mario Party 2 but the other stuff is from random yoshi/mario games.
you know i beat super mario sunshine like a million times and not once did i ever see FE characters fighting on a flying platform that went around the island...
uhhh 2020 anyone?
Which captain is Ike?
well i guess in my way i don't take baits but its pretty easy to prevent being punished because Ike has tremendously big hit boxes with majority of his attacks and he can use that to attack at a safe distance if he uses Ike's attacks at its maximum range. also got to time it after each jump.
Great match, btw where can I find that Ike texture? It;s awesome :O
That shield break was great
but at 8:18 I actually gasped, haha Ryo is so good
Did you know that Mr. R is pretty well known
it's the joker, the textures were off

and also Umadbro?
It's an RAR-->JC usmash

JC usmash = jump cancelled-usmash. Hold up, press jump, press A immediately after, the jump cancels and you usmash instead.
At least part of it from Mario RPGs opening theme
How do you call this kind of interpretations?
The music suits this so well.
i think that constant short hopping is pretty much useless for marth because it doesnt really do much and i dont think it can fool your opponent very well if you use some technique with it. its only good with characters like falco mostly. but with marth is pretty much nothing, sure you can fast fall and do down tilt or do reverse aerial but if your opponent has a sharp eye then its predictable.
Finally someone who plays Ike with my kind of style.
i already know that and its great when he uses his Bair which can go into Fair. I don't know who else can do that but it's an awesome feature. Marth does have one the best air games but for me i prefer Lucario more because it suits me more and i try to be good with Marth but he doesn't suit my style much. i'll say he's my 5th best even though i don't use all the time but i'm alright with him.

These are some kickass matches! And I Know the music for the first match has to be a remix of a Donkey Kong country song!
I do wanna see Ryo vs. Esam!
my point is, marth has a more advantageous position when he's in the air. period. ftr i'm a marth main in melee and brawl.
why does ryo Dair to DI. why not Bair
1:39 - Platform cancel to Bair was sick!
After many search , i found this song !
It's a BVM remix of Megaman 2 Dr.Wily theme ;)
marth has a myriad of options. he can land close, he can side b and halt his moment fade back with nair which is nearly nonpunishable at the proper range and covers roll towards and spotdodge option. so what youre saying is just flat out wrong. Good job Ryo considering the matchup
wow, nice ike, but money matching mr r's marth with ike? marth is like a perfect counter for ike, marth dances around ike with ease...
i know about the great air game Marth has but mostly he is short hopping when Ike is far away. he should stand there until Ike gets maybe about half way then start it. well i guess it's just me because like i said before i don't easily take the bait like straight on i approach in a way so that it's useless. i think Ike should find better approaches because in this video he mostly runs straight forward.
ftr this doesn't mean he's actually going to ATTACK the ike. an air dodge is nice too. ;3
but San says its 35-65 so yeah, surprised also
Its pretty hard to really determine someone's skill in a 4 person free for all.
Gingerham LMAO WHAT
tssssssss eso arde Mr. R xDD 4:54

nigga never uploaded my set
3:00 WHY WOULD YOU DOOOO THAAAAAT
5:55 lol
empty SHs are a bait and punish tactic.
awesome match!
3:01 FUUUUCK
That Marth CSP. Lol

Holy shit I hear mario party 2 in the song on delphino. I HAVE TO HAVE IT! Western Land(?) music!
5:23, well...
it's actually only 40-60, it isn't bad at all
Good set.
i played against other people who do the same exact same thing and sometimes even better than the one here in the video. it's so easy to punish them. it's all being smart and tricking your opponent. my best character is ike as well and i use what he's good at which is long hit box attacks with his sword. sometimes you just got to go in there and use that range at your best. one thing you should never do is think how people are skilled by a comment, text, etc.
*Marty
Ike doesn't like to counter I guess.
Well played by both players. Too bad the matchup is so awful for Ike
ir you the best ike in the word wait a sec ir you ryo :D!
Ahh! Scary ledge -air dodge- 1:22
....crap
8:20 holy shit haha
Agreed. Mike keno is the best Marty
8:18 :o
Lulnigga I still want to call it that Mikeneko is the better Marth.
*marth
Nice try at copying a top comment on another brawl video for thumbs up. Kids these days have no creativity whatsoever.
brawls no party game, its too complicated with mechanics
My friends don't play with me brawl anymore, they say I'm too good to have fun. And I even main Ganon
you serious? someone else actually said that well shit i'm sorry for saying the same thing lol i don't ever read comments just leave mine there and leave lol but if you really think i stole it okay
So the best Ike rep and the best Marth rep, both suck. Alright buddy.
