Hello!! You had helped me with some advice regarding the PTU on my 2008 Ford Edge a few months back so I wanted to ask your advice on something else. The PTU was replaced and has been running good since but I’m having an “issue” with my coolant temperature. I’m not sure if it’s an issue or if I’m overreacting but I wanted to ask your opinion before taking it to get looked at. I have a scanner for my Ford Edge and I always keep it on when driving. My coolant temperature always usually between 192°-196° but yesterday and today it went up as high as 216°. I started it today and let it sit in the driveway running for about 20 minutes until the temperature went up to 212° so I got nervous and I shut it off. The needle on the dash never moved indicating that it was overheating so I’m wondering if I should be concerned? I checked to see if the fans were kicking on and they seemed to be working fine as far as I could see. But I will say that the temperature rose more when not in movement so I thought it was going to be the fans. Any ideas? Is this temperature too high? Thank you!

Hi! I remember you, I’m glad a ptu fixed your issue! I wouldn’t be too worried about your coolant temp as long as it doesn’t go past 220. Being summer and hot outside sitting and only letting the fans pull air through the radiator it’s gonna run hotter. When you drive it there’s a lot more air going through the radiator to help keep it cool but turn your air conditioner on high and check and make sure both your fans come on. These edges are known for cooling fans failing. Also if you’ve never changed your coolant ford says every 100k miles to change it. And it’s not a bad idea to take a hose to your radiator and clean it out so there’s no restriction preventing air from going through it

@@T-MillProductions Thank you!! I was considering having my coolant changed and changing the thermostat just to have it done. Can I ask if I can use the universal antifreeze for my Edge? I’m getting mixed answers. I was going to take it and have it done at a garage but they said they use universal antifreeze so I didn’t know what to do. My coolant overfill container says to only use yellow coolant but I know this is a 2008 so I’m sure things changed from then. I was looking at the Gold Peak Original Equipment Technology Antifreeze + Coolant for North American Vehicles. Would that be ok to use? If not can you give me a suggestion for a replacement for my vehicle? Thank you!

You’re welcome! So here’s what I do, different coolants have different additives and different acid bases to them, me personally I use ford gold coolant or the equivalent. I got 221k miles on mine and I’ve done about 3 coolant flushes with ford gold or the valvoline coolant that is for the fords. One of the biggest things is that you don’t wanna mix these newer engine coolants because they can cause issues. For a really good video go to fordtechmakuloco channel and look at his coolant video. He does a full video on all the different coolants for uses and he’s the same way with using the oem coolant except 1 model year it went orange and ford says to change that stuff out with something else now. But personally I would stick to the correct coolant for your car. My mom and sister have Hondas and I only run the Asian vehicle pink stuff that came in those cars to avoid any problems. Now on the Diesel engines like the 6.0 and 6.4 diesel, international actually made those engines not for and their spec is from caterpillar actually ford just used their gold coolant but those engines the red extended life is wayyyy better to use. Just gots be sure to flush it out really good. I hope this helps! If you have anymore questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

Did one of those alternator about a month ago. Autozone of course. Well it charged for about 10 minutes. I shut it off an told my neighbor to come get it. She started it up and guess what. The dam battery light is on again. So I had to do it all over again. She paid me double labor though
