Hey I have a black timberlands that have a faded color. I tried cleaning it with a nubuck eraser at first cause i thought it was mold (faded color is greenish), but the faded color spread further. Should i just use the Kaps nubuck conditioner to get some color back or would that ruin the boots?

Without being as rude as some of the comments I’ve read I think a Mr. clean magic eraser would work just as well and a regular nail brush so save your money. I’m gonna take a picture and do it on mine and we’ll see.
Use a mild detergent or saddle soap 🧼 it might take several washes. I’ll be doing a video soon about how to restore suede/nubuck leather that’s been over conditioned. It won’t look the same as original but can be brought back to an extent
Saddle soap can be used since it’s pretty mild. Diluted dish soap as well. Spring or tap water can leave deposits so alkaline or a similarly filtered water is better
I've owned three pairs of Timberland boots. By the time they got in the condition of needing to be cleaned like this, at least one sole detached. We may need a video on THAT!
This is the ONLY time you can start with water. Use a wet brush or towel to remove mud then allow to dry before beginning this process. You can dilute a very small amount of dish soap in a bowl of water if it helps remove the mud.
Thanks, this will work nicely on my new woodland(Indian copycat brand, decent quality authentic leather) shoes which were destroyed by a pigeon😢. Learnt a lot from this video, thanks again!
Checked out the saddle soup in your link. The product label at the back says: not for use on suede or rough leather. Won’t it damage the Timberland boots or its nap since suede and nubuck are usually grouped together? I mean if the label says not for use on suede, then it should also not be used for nubuck?
So u have to buy more. America thought the wu tang clan would be a worldwide phenomenon so they partnered them with the government and timberland in an effort to generate more money for weapon research. Facts
No offense but this process takes too long. I clean mine in a smaller period of time. And the look brand new again. But no hate just stating my opinion
WRONG........... Saddle soap is meant for LEATHER, not SUEDE. This is one of the worst videos on how to clean a Timberland. When a Timberland boot gets as fucked up as this pair, it's time to buy a new pair, and use the worn pair for bad weather wearing only.
@ Using too much saddle soap will stain the suede. I’ve been wearing and cleaning Timberlands for well over 30 years, and I’ve been a sneaker head for over 40 years. The techniques for cleaning in most of these videos are pure garbage. You notice they only show and tell you how to clean the suede, they never tell you how to clean the sole, side and bottom. There’s never any mention on how to properly clean laces, especially leather laces. Including sneakers, when it’s white laces, do you bleach them, use color safe bleach, washing machine, or hand wash, what are the techniques that you can use to get stains out of the laces. Should you iron them when they are drying or completely dry? Or should they hang dry? What about the inner sole? How about getting little rocks and pebbles out of the soles? Do you use a fingernail brush or a toothbrush or a scrub brush? What kind of soap do you use to clean the sole? Can you use liquid detergent? What if you need something stronger than a fingernail brush, do you know how to use a Scotch Brite Dobie cleaning pad on soles? Should the boots / sneakers air dry or can you put them in front of a fan to speed up the process? There is an actual art and technique to cleaning sneakers and boots, but they never go into detail.

The moment you apply some water and even soap some color will fade away, be prepared, especially if you pair is new with vibrant yellow

I see some dry spots and its very important to make sure if you’re wetting nubuck or suede then you need to wet everything or youll leave water marks

johnston and murphy sells a suede and nubuck protector that protects against water and stains :) prevent those spots

Technically wheat color I think timberland calls them

Nubuck conditioner should help darken. It will change the texture though.

I’d wash them with soap and water or nubuck cleaner and condition with Bick 4. They’ll never look the same but can have some color restored
Thank you
what should I do if I have a small burn in my timbs. I can feel the gape so I’m sure it’s not a small dirty spot
A burn cannot be corrected since the leather is charred and destroyed. You can darken the leather around the burn or just leave it be.

I can only find the saddle soap in the yellow tin in the UK, is there a difference? Thanks
White tin should be used on lighter color leather and yellow tin on darker color leather.
Can i use a regular school eraser?
Yes! A white school eraser works great. I’d avoid the pink erasers and make sure there aren’t any pencil smudges on the eraser before using it! Haha
great question 😂
I mistakenly used the wrong polish on my boots which makes the surface more dry.. please how can i return it back to it's original?

Whatever works! Be careful with the magic eraser though since it’s an abrasive and can damage your nap if you get too aggressive with it
If you have used a magic eraser and the shoes have lost some nap, is there any way to restore it?…
Use a nap brush, sometimes you can’t restore it once it’s gone but you can brush up what fibers are left
@ Thank you, but it’s very smooth and lighter in colour… but it’s worth a try🙏🏼

What do you suggest I do if there are still stains even after using saddle soap on the boots?
@@JohnHix-j6y Use laundry detergent. It works great on suede from my experience.
