I don’t believe in protective styles. Hair is meant to be exposed, you protect it by washing, conditioning and styling hair. If using chemicals or cutting have a professional do it.

This is something that can happen to anyone and I appreciate you doing this video cause like you said this is the part that a lot of people rarely show. 💜

First off you looked so good with your hair up, so beautiful. Hair is really trial and error regardless if you have a relaxer, hair color, natural hair etc.. You will bounce back. By the way I really like the set up of the video, it feels very intimate.

Depending on how processed your hair is or how fine your hair is, you may not be able to tolerate single braids. My relaxed hair did fine with single braids. One thing that definitely jumps out at me is that doing braids and wearing them for only 2-3 weeks is not a protective style. The braid installation is a LOT of manipulation, and is only offset by a reasonably long period of having the hair protected in braids for at least 6 weeks. Another point of damage is during the braid takedown if you don't take your time and be gentle.

I love 💕 your content! So informative and true to self! I recommend you try relaxing closer together, 12 weeks max and "dust" each relaxer. That helps reduce breakage and stretching for too long just based off of the breakage you've experienced. Also, I love making rosemary and clove spray and or with olive oil.. OMG 😱😳 incredible growth 📈 very quickly too. I've learned so much. You are so beautiful ❤️ Keep up the great 😊 work!!

This was a great video. Tbh, I’m natural but I got faux locs in (to me, same concept of braids) and my hair was thinner after. I’ve given braids and faux locs a break.

First, thank you for your authenticity!! I'm going through the same thing right now! I know what happened initially. I went from a no-lye to a lye relaxer. Big mistake!! I thought I stopped the breakage, but to my surprise, I didn't. It kept breaking on my left side 😪. It's ALWAYS so shocking because on that one particular day it's the most noticeable and there's nothing you can do but start over. I really believe that lye relaxer damaged my hair more than I knew. So, I feel you. Good luck and more hair to you!! Shoot, more hair to me too!! 😎

Relaxers are hard to maintain, braids can thin out the hair also, set up looks cool!

Locking-up our hair in weave braids & wigs is horrible for our hair.

I was relaxed for YEARS and I’ll be honest my hair went trough some Sh💩t… I only went natural in 2020 but it wasn’t because I hate relaxers I just wanted to know my natural hair 😊. But yeah relaxed hair is not easy, we just have to educate ourselves and find out what the hair likes or doesn’t like 😕

Maybe you should cut your hair. Like 2 inches off by a professional so you get a fresh start. I think getting regular trims afterwards consistently will help combat the breakage and promote hair retention. Also I think the braids are hurting more than they are helping. I've seen that most relaxed people with long hair wear loose buns tucking the ends in. Making sure to not wear the bun in the same spot either.

It look like you was just lacking moisture and like you said a trim. Plus, during the summer put some heat protectant in your hair even with your braids. The sun can dry your hair out as well. But just like natural hair you just have to find out what actually works for your hair and please oil your hair while in braids. You will see a difference with moisture.

The same has happened to me, my hair was relaxed too and growing but now?! I had to cut it off and it's not growing back.
