    Ran my last marathon in the Speed. Had a 13 minute PR! By far the best marathon shoe I've run in thus far, and I've run in 6 of them. All the other marathon shoes were Hokas (Cliftons, Napali and Rincon). Thanks for a great review!

    Agree with review but would clarify on the overall usage of the shoes (I own both). The Speed is an all-around shoe that I can use for daily training, speed work and racing. I wouldn't use the Pro for daily training or easy days. It is a very stiff shoe and it isn't as bouncy until you get to faster paces. Interesting point about longevity as I tend to retire my shoes around 250 miles, though it does still feel decent from a rebound perspective.

      Thanks, Roger - Good call and thanks for the additional info - we agree with your points and sorry we didn't make that clear enough!

    You should probably mention that the version 2 of both shoes will be out on June 15, even though that most reviews states that the changes in version 2 are minimal.

      Hi Bo! We've run in both and will have an update out in the next couple of weeks. You're correct that the differences are minor, to the point we thing the Speed is basically the same shoe. The improvements on the Pro 2 are minor but notable, and really make it a near-perfect race shoe. :)

    Would disagree somewhat with which shoe to get over the other... I find the Speed to be far less stable through my transition than the Pro. Worth checking both out.

      No way, Dallas - you're WRONG! :) Just kidding - your point is pretty spot on. The PeBa cushion is an amazing base, but it really isn't as stable at this cushion level as other products - either in this shoe or others that use it (we're looking at you, Nike). The Pro's carbon fiber plate is much fuller than the Nike shoe, and it does result in a very stiff shoe that manages the stiffness into the heel in a way that a plastic plate cannot. As you know, the two shoes have surprisingly different feels, and we're not surprised different people feel differently about the result of those differences. Keep up the running and good points!

      @@TheUltraRunningCompany Yeah, waiting for that amazing midsole to show up in some more shoes and hopefully with a more stable geometry! Any plans to review the new Liberty?! The Pro is not ideal for me (and many others!) being so stiff, but I'll take that over the sloppiness of the Speed. And those Nikes... my ankles shudder at the mere thought! Great to have your in-depth and honest reviews back!

    Great review!! I am 72 and have been running all of my life. I am prone to achilles and ankle problems. I have been doing long runs of 10-12 miles in the endorphin speed and the nike turbo 2. The turbo seems to be better for my feet but it is discontinued and i am on my last pair. I am a little concerned about the nylon or plastic plate in the Endorphin Speed. I just received the Hoka Mach 4 and did a 3 mile run in it and i like it. Both the Speed and Mach 4 are amazing to run in. In your opinion which would be better for me for long runs, the Hoka Mach 4 or Saucony Speed or do you have another recommendation.i am 5'7" and weigh 135 pounds and have high arches. Thanks

    How about the shift?

    • @TheUltraRunningCompany
      @TheUltraRunningCompany  3 роки тому +1

      Hi tetertaurus! While these two shoes are basically the same thing with fine tuning across models, the Shift is a completely different shoe. We think these are world class, while the Shift is a good, maximally cushioned shoe that extends the brand. Kind of like the HOKA Clifton and Clifton Edge are completely different shoes that share a name in an attempt to capitalize on a great initial product. Our impression is that The Shift is a good little shoe, but we have so many amazing products coming in the pipeline we haven't dedicated the time to running in a that one. We may put out some thoughts if we get down the list a ways. :)

      @@TheUltraRunningCompany Oh wow, thanks so much for this response! I'm currently running in the shift but once my stack is empty I'll try the speed, then.
