- Oh yes, you are reading correctly! In this review, we're talking about the Saucony Triumph 17! They've discontinued their ISO series and have gone back to the traditional triumphs but with some pretty nice technology! Our opinion, WE LOVE THIS UPDATE!! But what about you? Have you tried these on... what are YOUR thoughts?
Being in running specialty, our insight on the products are a little different because not only do we RUN in the shoes, we also SELL these shoes to our customers. We thoroughly fit people for shoes. So instead of having one person's feedback it's kind of like speaking for a community of people who were all interested in the same shoe. Good and bad feedback, we tell it all!
What shoe should we do next?
SHOP HERE! Thanks for checking out our reviews - if you like what you see, please don't hesitate to check out www.ultrarunningcompany.com as well. We're an actual brick & mortar store in Charlotte, NC, and appreciate your support! We're proud to carry the Saucony Triumph and you can purchase them here: bit.ly/URCTrium.... The most comprehensive review on the net. 👍
Not gonna watch the whole thing again. But I hope he complimented this shoe's colorway. It's so great looking. Seems to be sold out everywhere now. (By everywhere I just mean Amazon.)
Great review. Packed with the kind of detail and insight I've been looking for. Subscribed.
Likewise
Proxima Centaur1 ditto
I tried for a while to work on my posture and running form and then had enough. I just love running and i've got shoes in my rotation ranging from 4 to 10 mm offset and love them all ! When i run i just want to enjoy the moment and empty my head instead of concentrating on something. Running to me is about feeling free and i don't really care about my stride my shoulders and so on. I just wanna run. However besides running i do stretch a lot and work on my core strength so that might help
Great analysis. Learned a lot more about what details to think about with a shoe. Next level review. Thanks!
I'd heard loads of good things about this shoe before pulling the trigger. I normally stick with the lower drop and wide toebox Topos or Altras and this is the first time in a while where I've ventured outside those brands and bought the T17's. I love them for my long easy miles on the road, really comfortable and are great if I want to pick up the pace a bit. Kicking back now to see what you thought of them :)
Certainly way more bang for the buck compared to competitors, awesome review.
Thanks, Dan! You the MAN!
I love this channel! Seems no upload for awhile or there is but I'm too daft to notice?
Great detailed review. I'm waiting for the freedom 3. Lower 4mm drop but still powerrun+. Think it will be perfect compromise.
Mixed feelings after 3 runs, total 50k... on the feet seem skateboard shoes. Upper is yes comfy but their layering feels overwhelming to my feet. I do feel this inside protrusion at the tongue bottom. Was curious and observed a very rough way of stitching the tong to the upper.
The midsole probably the best part although heavy for my liking. Let’s see after some more k.... remain in my rotation together with Rincon, Glideride and Flys.
Great content! As someone who's just getting into running, this was very informative and helpful! I just bought a pair for myself in the wide and excited to give them a try!
What’s your take on the shoe?
Sold! Just bought a pair from you guys! Thanks for the review!
Matthew Modine's shoe loving brother.
Excellent review, thanks.
Dude is scary articulate. Many shoe reviewers are. It's interesting.
Powerun is not just plain eva. It's an eva/tpu blend
Best review of the Triumph 17 👍👍
6:35 Yep, you "feel it bounce you back up". Which is why I feel like I may turn my ankle in these. Kind of a love / semi-hate thing. I've a history of rolling my ankles, so maybe I'm paranoid.
Love this shoe, live this channel big time. You create amazing content and your brilliance of running shoes comes through...BUT why is there a need to play the fame song continually every video for the whole video? Or any song at all? I wanna focus on the content. Thanks! Big ups.
Ever since I switched to hoka I wonder what might tempt be back to saucony. Hasn't happened yet! I just can bear another pair of kinvara sweet for a week then lose their responsiveness when my hokas are good for 500-750k easy.
You don’t find the Hoka line to be too stiff? I want to like their shoes but I’ve had a difficult time with their widths and stiffness of the platform.
What would you recommend as a substitute for this shoe? I’m looking for a lower drop shoe, with 2E width, something along the lines of the Timp by Altra...but for Road. I’ve also tried Topo but do not like the cushioning in their road shoes.
As a mid to forefoot striker I love Nike's 10mm drop shoes I find it odd that y'all don't carry the brand that offers the highest performing shoes objectively at this point
I was SOOOOO looking forward to the Triumph 17, but felt it was very blah. Clifton 6 is WAY better.
Hi, thks for the very informative review. How does this compare to the NB 1080v10? I'm torn between these 2 to purchase.
As always, a fantastic review, thanks! I've been really impressed with what I've heard about this shoe. I'm looking for a shoe to run training distances between 25 and 50kms. I run in Altra Torin and Olympus and considering purchasing the Paradigm for roads but do you think the Saucony Triumph 17 could be an alternative? Thanks.
I can't say I run these kinds of distances but have tested a lot of different Altra shoes and one pair that I'm really loving right now is the NB FuelCell Propel (for context, my fondest memories with Altra are the Duo - just because it surprised me so much - the Kayenta, and the OG Escalante because I have not tried the updates).
@@anthonymarconi761 Many thanks for your feedback Anthony, I will bear it in mind. Happy running!
I buy triumph 17 and l not recommended this shoes. Midsole not soft for me. Maybe because my weight 67kg. They not bretheble, very hot shoes. They heavy. And you feel this. Clifton 6 mach batter
One thing that I don't get is that we have all this people talking about which drop in a shoe is better, and we have these people running and winning marathons with 11mm drop shoes.
We totally get it, David. Our thoughts:
1) They're professional athletes getting paid to use a product. If the manufacturer only offers high drop shoes, they're going to wear them. Remember when Tiger Woods ditched his (clearly superior, as even he admitted) Titelist clubs for Nike? We're pretty sure he did that because they paid him, not because they were the best option. Same with runners, although at much lower stakes.
2) Most professional athletes have *really solid form*. The challenge with high drop shoes is not that they hurt anyone or cause injuries - it's that for the average runner the higher heel makes it harder to land with their foot in an efficient position underneath their center of gravity. This suboptimal landing has a number of effects up the kinetic chain (which can cause injury) and results in losses in efficiency/speed as well. For a runner with fantastic form, this becomes a non-issue - they'll hit in an optimal position regardless of their shoe choice (going back to Tiger Woods - at the time of his switch, he was so much better than anyone else he could actually afford to use less precise clubs and still win). For the vast majority of people - a very high percentage of whom overstrike in the first place - a higher drop shoe has a high potential to exacerbate the issue and result in less efficiency and increased potential for injury. It's not the high drop *specifically*, its the high drop combined with less than perfect form...
We hope that helps.
David you got smashed. At least say thank you.
@@Frip36 why did I get smashed, because I just had a question. Why people now a days think that asking is a form of being opposed to something?
So saucony start with 17th number? Skipped pevious 16 versons?
That’s nice to hear that the price dropped, but then that makes me wonder how and what they removed in order to drop the cost. I happen to like Saucony, but the price drop makes me suspicious.
You got some big feet, if I’m not wrong you have size 47 in Europe size? Notheless, great review👍
No,
It's 48 in EU.
size ✌️😎
That drop is wrong.
Um. OK. So what did you measure the drop to be?
