    Important reminder that Japanese microwaves (and other appliances) run on 100V, while everything in the US runs on 120V, and Europe runs on ~230V. Cooking times might be much shorter for you depending on location! Rice is ready when all the water is absorbed, plus ~1m for steaming. Overcooked rice is soft and mushy and sad, and it's very easy to get in the microwave if you're not careful!

      nursefuzzywuzzy Solanine, which is most commonly found in the flowers, sprouts, leaves, skin, roots, berries, peel
      IS poisonous, in lower concentrations, you can get a really bad case of Diarrhea and in high concentrations can kill you D:

      Yes But Deep Frying, boiling and baking a green potato removes it because it's water Soluble and it moves out of the potato and into the frying oil, water and Steam respectively. also if it's so dangerous don't you think that they would remove not only Potatoes but also tomatoes from the markets?

      I do worry that having sake, at least in American college dorms, would be a problem because of rules regarding having alcohol in the dorms. At least when I lived in dorms, you could get in serious trouble if any consumable alcohol was visible in your room, even if you were drinking age.

      this also works the same way on the stove. Wash rice, add rice to boiling water (about twice as much water by volume as rice, but that also depends on the kind of rice), boil on low heat for 10 minutes, then let rest for 10 minutes

      Me neither!! I was pretty surprised...& if someone had told me, and I hadn't seen the outcome...I would have never believed it would come out with such a nice texture, just like runny'a rice did! I will definitely have to give it a try when I'm in a hurry=)

    • @kyoujinkrista2
      @kyoujinkrista2 10 років тому

      beautytryouts I just tried it! And it worked well. Whenever I cook it in a pot it sticks to the bottom and it's a nightmare to clean but I just used a glass jug and it was easy to clean and cooked perfect! I used cheap sushi rice. I had to turn the power setting down though as I have a 1100w microwave.

    I'm also a dorm student! At the moment i'm living at a student's residence. We only have 1 microwave for every 20-30 students (we all are about 200 people living here). Of course the residence gives all of us 3 meals a day but sometimes i would like to lunch something different of what they are cooking that day so i find this recipe ver y useful

    Is it like this for most colleges in the US? When I was living in student halls in my 1st year in Scotland, 4 of us lived in an apartment - each with his own room - and we had a full, proper kitchen that we shared. There were other places you could stay that cost a little extra but had food provided (like in big school cafeterias), but what I had was pretty standard, what we call self-catered accommodation. It's weird that she doesn't even have a kitchen. Still, microwaves are pretty versatile, you can make all sorts of stuff in them.

      American colleges have that too. But it's usually for upperclassmen. For your first year of college you usually share one room with one to three other people with no kitchen. But there's usually at least one community kitchen on each floor of the building.

      I go to community college and I live at home. Much easier that way.

      I think we get it a little easier in the UK, especially in Scotland you guys don't even have to pay tuition most of the time you jammy sods :v in America going to uni or college will cost you a ton of money there are small islands you can buy that cost less than the overall uni fee's. So i guess the students and unis will try to save money where they can.

      Alot of UK places are mostly catered, with some self catered, normally for after first year or those on special diets. I was self catered as i didn't want to eat their food and i had dietary requirements. Then our halls went on fire and we weren't able to cook but had to get meals in a catered hall.
      That is when i made use of my rice cooker and friends microwave to cook everything.

    You can actually purchase a microwaveable rice cooker. It's faster and works well. Also works as steamer as well.

    you know runny if you want to move an icon on your phone you just hold your finger on it until it shakes (sometimes the phone itself vibrates) then drag it to where ever you want it.

    Great dish runnyrunny...but can i use something else than sake because i dont consume alcohol?

    • @Casy1306
      @Casy1306 10 років тому

      I basically make the same dish sometimes, only with leek instead of potatoes and I don't have sake, soy sauce or honey in it, just salt, pepper, a splash of water and that's it. It tastes great as well, so you can just leave alcohol out, I'd say.
