Hi, dark winter colours can be soft! Soft doesn’t mean “light”. Look for muted dark greens, soft wine colours, and darker pastels such dark pastel blue and dark periwinkle. My colour colour palette includes dark mauve, dark taupe, dark dusty rose and dark lavender. I had my colours done using the Zyla system. I find that deep navy blue can look soft when styled with beige and light brown instead of white and black.
Agreed! I'm a deep winter SC too and pastels are the worst colours on me. They wash me out and make me look sick. I'm confused about why, in Merriam's system, there's a correlation between body type and colour palette. What does my skin tone have to do with my lines?
Yasss! Love soft classic content! Good to know I don't have to go just for the boring plain tops but can try looser ones or more glamorous ones. Actually, I own many tops similar to that 20:24, because I found it works on me and isn't boring :D
I am coming around but do get confused about colours and soft classic. I am cool/bright, low contrast SC (think Kirsten Dunst). Love bright cool colours and black. Am starting to notice pastels make my face POP but I can't live my whole life in pastels, & they arent practical colours for pants. I love some bright jewel tones too. I find myself having to compromise between fit, colour, & brightness. A journey! I'll never give up black tshirts though 😂
This is so interesting, this video helped me realise that despite being soft classic and warm and muted that I still sometimes make style choices outside of that. I like the look of Breton stripes and navy and black and find myself reaching for them from time to time because I like how they look aesthetically. I am drawn to the classic “French look” and find that the example capsule wardrobes I find online often include these elements. I would really like some tips for adapting that look to soft classic and warm and muted. I’m also fairly high contrast 🇫🇷 I watched the remainder of the video in the club but didn’t see jackets and coats mentioned which is something I struggle with. If you could do something on that in the future that would be wonderful. Thanks Merriam! ❤
Mirriam, I had a question. Can you be petite vertically, but rather wide horizontally, (meaning wide rib cage, bust, etc.,) even when not overweight and be classified as someone who is not gamine? Though I used to be 5'2", now 5'1" due to degenerated discs throughout the years, I still don't feel I fit into a gamine. Any thoughts would help? Though I had my color analyzes done by you I am still interested in what you would type my body. I sent a message back to you, if you don't get it, please let me know. Thanks. I love your videos.
