What’s up with the “women in Hollywood are mtf trans” conspiracy theorists in kibbe comment sections?? There’s so many of them and it’s beyond annoying and insulting
yeah I didn't even know of that corner of the internet! and when I google body geometry or bone structure test, I don't really see anything coming up for mtf trans. So I'm confused. If anyone knows what's going on, let me know.
It's a conspiracy theory. I wouldn't be so insulted by a conspiracy theorist since they are just crazy and delusional right? Or maybe you fear that they might be right? and your perception of reality might be shattered?
T M I mean yeah sometimes people say shit out of jealousy but you can't generalize a whole group of people especially when you've never met a single person of said group. We are conspiracy theorists, truthers or what have you. Maybe we're all just delusional or maybe we're onto something. Don't forgot the celebs use heavy makeup, photo shop, plastic surgery, wigs, angles, poses, perfect lighting, fake nails, corsets, rib removal, and strategic fashion to hide their true nature. If the celebs are so beautiful and perfect why do they need all that? I use none of it and I still get admired for my beauty as a woman. The whole idea is based on skeletal structure differences between a man and woman. It's based on a forensics science and you have to take in consdieration all the possible body alterations mentioned above to take away from the true skeletal structure. The more you study male vs female structure the better of an eye you have for it
I like that you're taking this in the direction of people being between types, or a mixture of types. I definitely feel like that applies to most of us and bringing in elements of the types within yourself could be very beneficial if done in a strategic and artful way.
I am between mostly B's and a few C's. So no wonder my best looks are relaxed styles with a classic foundation. I call it "the toned down boho" heh oh and the oversized blazer test was quite insightful :)
Thanks for the clarification as Kibbe rules can be overwhelming and confusing. The pictures help a lot when comparing them to my mirror image. I used to think I had a soft jaw but now having compared it to these celebs (and lost some weight) I see it's more of an A jaw. I wonder how many people have a mixed skeleton like mine like percentage wise
This was much easier to understand than other tests. No wonder my results didn't make sense! All this time I was choosing the opposite of what I am because I didn't understand it fully.
Definitely feeling the 'inbetween'. The middle between mixed and blended sounds intriguing. I'm looking forward to more videos on the topic. I don't suit any clothing for pure types, but if I get a piece of clothing that would simultaneously suit a SN, SC and TR it will usually suit me (smooth-ish lines, not too much detail and not too little, nothing to visually cut me in half). I'm not balanced enough to be a blended type, but I also look 'off' with anything asymmetric on me. This is a tough nut for me to crack. It doesn't help that my soft flesh conceals most of my bones. :D
This is me - I get a 3 way split between A, C and D/E on every test. I'm not very fleshy though, except in my face, so it's easy to see which category I fall into (or fail to fall into, being both mixed AND blended!)
@@labornurse In theory Soft Gamine would sound ideal, since I'm only 5.2'. In practice it all falls apart. Horizontal lines make me look stumpy and frumpy, especially if I don't match my trousers and shoes. Even belts can be too much. I am easily overwhelmed by prints, especially detailed like for Romantics or animated/ perky like Gamines. Gamine styles generally make me look large and awkward, especially short dresses. I may be short, but I'm not petite. Since I have a moderate amount of C answers on the test, I don't look good if my proportions are out of balance. On the other hand, I have a floor-length velvet dress, which creates one long line and shows off curves, which looks just perfect. This leads me to conclude I am not a Gamine (I do have SG and FG colleagues, so I have a good idea what the lines look like). And it does generally work for me to go for clean silhouettes like SC, but add textures and details for SN.
I have a chart somewhere that shows the “perfect” proportions based on head length, like GITTE’S example with the height. (edit: I googled “Human figure proportions diagram” and found lots of good images) 📏📐 I like something objective for reference because I, like many women, have difficulty seeing myself realistically. (I have asked my husband to point out someone similar to me, but he’s not terribly helpful. Or he’s just smart.) It’s much more helpful to say, “the average upper arm (point of shoulder to elbow) is 1.5 ‘heads’ and the average elbow-to-fingertip length is 2.0 ‘heads’.” That is much less subjective.
This is the single most helpful body typing video I've ever seen. I have a sharpened bone structure, but my curvy flesh was throwing me off. The example of Ashley Graham as a SD with more body fat was very helpful.
I hope you do a second video with the flesh and facial features. I really like how you explain what to look for ( for example in the jawline) and the pictures were illustrated it very well.
I was hopelessly confused at the Kibbe test, but felt a twinge of recognition when I saw pictures of Flamboyant Gamines. On your test, I got 2 D/E answers, 3 A/Bs, and 1 C. Yep, it looks like I'm Mixed with some yang undercurrent. This was so much easier!
I am mostly B, but with size 9 narrow feet and small hands, not broad. My head is bigger so I appear shorter even though I’m 5ft 6in. So I’m B with some C and E. I’m glad you are always trying to perfect your diagnosis on body types.
I would love to see a video about how to read the lines of the body. I find hard to understand what the describing words mean. Like what does long, wide, sharp, round mean? I struggle to "see" the lines your talking about. When you say, "long, wide, sharp, round," do you mean in relation to the rest of the body or in comparison to the spectrum of bodies? Also I feel like learning to see the bones and lines of the body is perhaps an acquired skill that comes with practice. Is this something you've experienced, and if so, how did you train your eye to "see" in this way?
you compare withing the body and you see the line as it is, not in contrast to other bodies. Although it helps to look at them to see how exactly long arms look and such. Have to train the eyes a bit and paying really close attention to proportions. Good luck!
Its a highly subjective system, influenced by the angle of the photo and the viewers own interpretation and artistic language bc in reality, human bodies dont quite fit into categories. Its artistic interpretations, not reality.
I imagine it's better to study other humans first. Analyzing your own proportions can be super tricky as our brains have spent a lifetime developing biases and blind spots. Reminds me of the fact that we see our own nose constantly, anytime our eyes are open.. but our brains have learned to tune that info out.
@@MK-ih6wp So true. I think this is the main reason why I find it so difficult to objectively identify characteristics of my own body. However, I do still struggle with seeing lines of the body on other people unless they are very obviously sharp or soft.
@@juliannedyck2054 I am hopeless at analyzing myself too. I have just learned to use other people as my mirror. I read them as they read me, if that makes any sense. Doesnt work with people who know me, friends/family are too biased. Acquaintances & strangers tend to give the most useful feedback, IMO. As for analyzing other people...I wish I could stop. Its distracting & it makes me feel shallow for noticing the physical qualities of others. Esp when these things are out of people's control (aside from hormones, surgery, etc).
Don’t agree with the head size and vertical line, because the size of your limbs is so important in how tall you look. That confused me a lot because I have a really small head but small limbs, and I though since I had a really small head I must have answer A vertical line. Surprise, surprise because everyone I asked told me I looked shorter because of my small arms and legs. Really confused what my body type really was. So head size is not the only factor that makes you look tall/short.
That's true, but the length of your limbs is the subject of another answer. If you were to count them in the vertical line answer, then they would be counted twice.
Diana L But they still affect your vertical line tho. Especially the combination between small head/big head with long/short limbs. It’s the overall look on how tall you look, not just your head. Someone with small head and limbs will look smaller than someone who has a small head and tall limbs.
I agree...all of the ladies at 7:27 look tall to me. When I see Audrey, I see a tall lady. Doesn’t matter that her head is big because her limbs are long, that automatically creates elongation. I think head size definitely does influence your vertical line but the length of the limbs is just as important.
vanilla mochi Both Audrey Hepburn and Zendaya are considered FG and they both have larger heads and a longer arms/legs. While they both look at least somewhat tall to me, their larger heads makes them look shorter and keeps them from being maybe a dramatic or something else. The size of your head is a factor, but not the only factor.
The reason I didn't do it that way is because I don't want to double count the arms and legs. Imagine if we said that having a larger bust line also makes you look more hourglass....then we would double count those two answers, you see? It's the combination of factors that ends up making your bone structure, and the size of the head is one of them, as are the length of the limbs. I agree with you that the limbs being shorter makes someone look shorter, but that's already accounted for in the limbs question.
Yes!!!! I’m Theatrical Romantic! I saw that I would already gravitate towards those lines but...but when I’d shop and try other lines, I would feel frustrated. I would think either I’m fat or they were poorly made clothes. Now, that I understand better my lines, I shop for clothes much faster, asking myself would Marylin, Rihanna or Rachel McAdams wear this, it helps with a mental visual 😂 Thank you, Merriam for your work. I go back to watch your videos because of your voice and because I try to see if I can guess what my friends lines are. 😊
I also really love the example of A arms and legs with Liya Kebede and Ashley Graham next to each other. Both dramatic sharp skeletons answer As everywhere but one has answer A flesh and the other mainly answer E. This is what is so incredible about the system and what kibbe and body geometry can teach us. It's all about the bones first then the flesh that comes on top. Thanks Merriam for this great video and distilled explanation of the test.
The more I watch, the more confused I am. My face seems out of proportion with my body. I need professional help. I lean towards classical outfits because they seem to neither work for me nor against me but i am more conscious of the necklines and earrings that would help me add length rather than width.
@@taritangeo4948 Ok. It is easier to follow than the original test which I have seen. He doesn't go by the test anymore anyways. The way she explains things seem clear.
This may be your best video yet! Seriously so helpful to understanding everything!! Thank you for such good work. Your hair looks amazing too. Merry Christmas, Merriam!
A bit off topic, but I was curious why there seems to be no Natural Classic type? This would obviously be someone who is basically Classic but with extra blunt Yang. In Kibbe if you are Classic with extra Yang you would be Dramatic Classic but the recommendations seem to assume that you are Classic with some Dramatic and you are supposed to add sharpness, etc. To me that's not the same as adding bluntness or other Natural elements.
Ahh I find this so hard. I cant really see the difference between for example the girl who is curvy with dramatic sholders, or a someone with sloped sholders. All of it is so subtle to me. I guess I should be dramatic because I am tall and Skinny, but if I wear a suit, to me it looks off, and if I wear a top with jeans I look less defined, almost a size bigger, because my hips are making my top look like I am much rounder. I am sharp maybe, but I also have really larger softer lips and a less defined jawline ( I think?) I just lose myself in this..
I can't tell by my individual features, either, but I look more like a young boy than a feminine woman. I'm "lucky" to have cousins who look a lot like me but their features are extremely feminine, so I have something to compare myself to. I'm not as masculine as Tilda Swinton; as a Soft Dramatic, I literally have softened Dramatic features. My boyish face has always been an embarrassment to me, but as I got older, I've shown my age less than other women.
This videos is exactly on point, and what i needed! You carefully picked brilliant examples! Thanks to the example pics of Cs, I am even more convinced of being blended. My facial answers are all C leaning towards A, because my lean, chiselled or defined impressions of my nose, cheeks and jaw are real, but aren't that pointy sharp. Got an A for hands and feet and a D for shoulders, the others are C as well. This should be coherent to the monocromatic minimal detail looks that suit me. I think there are definitly people between types. If there is a sharp vs round dimension, what could be opposite of bevelled?
@@ingrid9635, I second your descriptive adjectives! I question that having mixed bones/ being mixed type is the matching opposite of bevelled. Bevelled bones can contribute to having mixed answers. So are we missing anything? Or is blendet our point zero of with the characteristics sharp, rounded and bevelled branch out? Could there be a lean category?
Thank you for posting this video! You've done such a lovely job explaining the bone structures for the types. I had such a hard time seeing it in the photos online, but your explanations helped a LOT. I now see that I'm a soft gamine (what I suspected but couldn't decide between that, soft classic, and theatrical dramatic). I'm also going to do your clothing test at Nordstrom this weekend where I try on all the different types of garments and take photos to see how they look - it should be really fun!
I thought I was a TR but I had more blended answers then rounded. It actually makes a lot of sense. I’m going to start introducing more blended elements in to my wardrobe. I’m wondering since I still have a lot of rounded elements what ways I can play with both lines. Also I love vintage styles but I do worry that they sometimes over power me. (I get lots of compliments on my clothing) I love your body typing system and I can’t wait to learn more!
cheeks: C nose: C/D jaw: B perceived height: D shoulders: B limbs: B hands: E I definitely prefer this to some other tests out there and am curious about the grey area between types too! I used to feel weird about having a mixed body and thought I was "disproportionate" but I'm embracing it now. I feel my best in simple, smooth, fitted clothes with high contrast. :)
My bone structure is rounded, thanks a lot for the help! I was debating whether I'm a theatrical romantic or a soft gamine and I finally know the real answer: TR!
Merriam, what about having long arms but short legs? Does that classify as short limbs or long limbs? The celebrities in your video are all wearing heels.
I have the same question and it is an important one. I have very long arms, and short legs. Imo the length of your legs in comparison to the length of your body is the most important measure for determining your vertical line.
My hypothesis is that it could be a sign you are a mixed type (different length of arms and legs), or a rounded type with an undercurrent (type like Rihanna). However there is a possibility of that for any type, just as Merriam said we are all unique.
@@ju2082 I would say one needs rounded shoulders and hips to be a rounded type. I have come to the realization that there will be outliers, like me, who just don't fit into any of the types including flamboyant gamine.
7 questions ❤ Potentially this changes everything for me though as I'm coming out more mixed type on this test whereas with Kibbie I come out more Romantic/Soft. I look forward to your future videos! No mention of eyes/ natural hair type? I love the idea of a continuum! It seems more flexible and relatable than having a strict "type".
Wonderful! Thank you. My results are mostly C's and just under that, D's. I'm thinking that makes me more a Soft Classic in Kibbe. I'm a 4/1 in Dressing Your Truth.
This was so well explained. I like the way you made the categories easy and how you explained the jawline. I finally realized I have a tapered jawline, and I’m definitely a mixed body type leaning toward yin. I still have a hard time with shoulders, so I just said they’re answer C because I don’t see them in any of the examples lol. I hope you’re going to walk us through the flesh test (that sounds weirds lol) soon too!
Merriam I really would like a style consult from you but I can’t pay with creditcard because I don’t have one. Is there a an option to pay with PayPal?
Cheekbones: C Nose: D/E Jawline: C Head: C Shoulders: C Arms: C Legs: C Hands: C Feet: C I think i am an blended, and i been feelling like that lately. Thank you so much Merriam ♡♡
Thank you for the Christmas present! And Merry Christmas to whoever reads this! 🎄✨ For the longest time, I thought I had the broadest shoulders ever, since the women around me are petite. And then I found out that no, my shoulders aren't able to hold visual weight - that's why I look like I'm drowning in loose sweaters. 😂 The visual examples in the video are helping a lot. Thank you so much!!
Hang on - I think you are using Kendall Jenner as an example of both long and short vertical lines? 6:57 Kendall in red dress, 7:33 Kendall on the right in a short black dress.
This test finally clarified things for me, I could never gravitate clearly to any Kibbe style but classic, and my answers on the regular quiz were so mixed that it was confusing. Now I totally get it! I’m blended! 😃
Please do a video on the types inbetween! I'm especially interested in "Blended with added Mixed", as this subtype wasn't there before but I identify with it. :-)
If you check out the Truth is Beauty's system which is modified Kitchener the blend between Blended aka Class and Mixed aka Gamine (and also Ingenue) that mix IS taken into account. So for those of us who have this going on we can finally find what works for us! I am not an affiliate and didn't receive anything for mentioning this. I'm just into tracking all the various style typing systems www.truth-is-beauty.com/style-analysis.html and had a deuce of a time finding what worked for me using Kibbe and related systems that assume there could be no blend between the two combined types.
I have 3 answers A and 4 C, I was hesitant however to evaluate my head size and my limbs’ length accurately, I do have extremely thin wrists and ankles, and I do look taller, then the examples, that you show for blended type. I am tall (170cm), slim (Us4/6), but pretty dense, because I do a lot of sports (62 kg). My bones are narrow and long, but I don’t feel the vibe of A or B in me. I also notice often enough, that many details or colours or big blocks of fabric, or its stiffness, as well as chunky jewellery overwhelm me. I kann pull of the length quite well however. So I guess I might be somewhere in those in-between types.
Could you please show a visual comparison between sharp and beveled bones? The difference between dramatics and flamboyant natural is seriously confusing! Some FN celebrities look sharp, and some dramatics have quite wide shoulders?
Love your videos and found you through your videos on kibbes body types. You have really helped me to see my type clearly and knowing I am a soft dramatic makes it easier to follow your own theory, even though it is much easier to follow than kibees in my opinion. I don't think my head is small and my legs are definitely of a B bone structure, since they are on the wider side with muscular calves and softer thighs and that takes away from their length a little bit. Then again, my arms, hands, feet and shoulders take my yang up quite a notch together with my facial bones, so I don't think those first two have that much influence on my type. Can't wait to see more videos on body geometry, especially for the inbetween types and ofc my own!
My answers are mostly A/B and C. I think I'm going to try classic looks with one dramatic element or one rounder softer, romantic element to know which kibbe type my body is leaning to. I've read somewhere while researching this new thing, that kibbe body types might not be inclusive for WOC. Would you please make one video on color in accordance with body types for WOC. I mean to say the code of wearing only pastels for classic body type and that anything darker has the potential to overwhelm the classic body type, misses out on woc. I esp have liked the plum color upon me.
What about a mix between beveled and blended? I do find it hard to wear too much detail and I definitely suit smooth silhouettes. I think my bone structure is wide, but I don't seem to wear wide or relaxed silhouettes very well. Sleek seems to be a good keyword for me. As much as I badly want a chiseled or sharp bone structure, I don't think I have one.
How do the bones hold weight: 1)C Cheekbones: 2)C (my cheekbones are high but not prominent I guess C) Nose: 3) B Jawline: 4) D/E Heads: 5) A/B Shoulders: 6) A Arms and legs:7) C Hands and feet: 8) A Am I sharpened or blended?
I am pretty sure I'm a TR, though I have a lot of C answers. But I'm naturally attracted to G lines. I just love them. I find that too much detail is a bit much on me, but I just chucked it at personality. I'd be interested to see if I might get away with certain types of SG lines. Look forward to seeing more on this in the future!
Have you seen Merriam's "style actualization" video for Rachel McAdams? She talks a bit about wearing TR vs. SG lines. ua-cam.com/video/l1--IJlbYS8/v-deo.html
What if I have equal number of B and C answers? One of them I can't tell (my shoulders I put C because I couldnt tell) so that would make 4 C and 3 B, but I dont think I am blended type even though i dont look neither very wide nor long, because all my face answers were B...PLEASE HELPPP
I posted my photos on the kibbe subreddit and I have one person who typed me as a Flamboyant Gamine and another type me as a Dramatic Classic. After some research, it seems like both share style recommendations (boxy structured shapes). The biggest difference to me styling wise is that Dramatic Classic looks better with minimal detail, and Flamboyant Gamine looks better with more detail. However, I've seen Olivia Palermo typed as a Dramatic Classic and I believe she looks better with a high amount of detail. Could be a preference though. Edit: I also observed that Olivia Palermo's clothing isn't overly fitted nor is it oversized, moderately fitted perhaps? Maybe the fit allows more detail.
I think also just everyone does best personalizing their looks. Some DC can do well with the right kinds of patterns worn the right way, others it's too much energy and contrast, or they can do some patterns, but maybe not some of the bolder ones. I like a lot of her patterned looks, but some I think (with patterns over very loud, busy, sometimes including neon colors on black, for instance, underneath a tartan coat or something) is too much. But there are definitely elements she wears I can see on the right FG's as well.
Hi! I appreciate the effort to have ethnically diverse folks in this test... but would really, really appreciate photos of wider size range mixed in too. You say that bone structure determines how flesh lays on top, but with my (very average) size 20 body, I need examples to see what you mean.
OMG I just realized u also have ur own body typing system and that's what body geometry is lol. I'm still so confused about body typing and I'm glad this is simpler than the Kibbe one, which I could never figure out despite multiple videos and quizzes I've taken, but I still don't understand what the difference is between the shoulder shapes. Like are you talking about whether they're more square than downward sloping? Because Jennifer Goodwin's shoulders look more square to me than Rachel Weiss', yet u'r saying Rachel's has more structure? Or are you talking about the width of the shoulders compared to the width of the head?
I'm all E lol. I wish you could do a video on how romantics can wear more dramatic lines. Like punk or leather etc. Like you did for dramatics. I actually found I look good (imho) with dark purple lipstick and that's kinda weird since I am a romantic.
@@merriamstyle yeah I looked into that and it was helpful, but I was looking for something for people with less sharp bones, theatrical romantics are sharper.
Merriam Style I agree with her I am a romantic both facial features and bone structure but I have a playful and spicy type personality so I don’t really like to wear all those girly flow dresses , I’m more soft dramatic in style and would like to know how to blend angular lines onto a romantic bone structure
@@visa9313 Idk. I heard different opinions. Example, alyart says romantics look good with pastel colours in makeup but theatrical romantics look a bit clownish.
Clear as always! And YES, please videos on the spectrum of body types! This made me think that maby (maby) I'm a mixed with a little Bevelled also. I love following you along, both here and in the Club! 😍💗🧡💗🧡💗🧡💗
Hi, I think I am dramatic classic, but I'm 5’5 and my shoulders are wider than my hips and angular, a little bony. my answers were mainly C and D. What do you think about it?
I have almost all E answers, except a long vertical line (small head), and possibly answer C shoulders (not sloped but absolutely not sharp). I'm 5'7. I'm too wide boned to be TR, or SD, but I'm not 100% I'm Romantic either. I don't look tiny or delicate.
Cheekbones: A Nose: B Jawline: B Head: A and B Shoulders: B Arms/Legs: A and B Hands/Feet: D/E Mostly Bs with some As. I am pretty much a pure flamboyant natural.
I'm having a hard time on this haha my arms and legs look long but overall I look a bit shorter than my height. My cheekbones look sharp side view and if I don't smile but if I smile of course it's puffy but not sure if it's high. My shoulders are sharp but when I look at the samples, it could be on the balanced side. I'm so confused.
Hi. I love your channel. I Saw in a lot of your videos that you classify Christina Hendricks as a romantic. However, another channel I follow classifies her as a soft dramatic. Im having a hard time choosing one since she is very tall 5'7 and looks great in soft vertical lines. Please shed light why you would choose onceover the other. Thankyou!
I don't believe I've ever classified Christina Hendricks at all, and if I did classify her as a romantic somewhere, it was an error. Are you sure you're not thinking of someone else? I think and always have thought that she's SD, and I believe Aly thinks this as well?
I watched the video twice to try and decipher for myself my bone structure, I look alot like Christina Ricci, but I'm not sure if I have the same bone structure as her. I picked mostly d/e, the only thing that I didn't put for d/e were cheeks and I am still questioning shoulders because I am plus size, and petite I'm about 4'11" and weigh 200lbs so I think of myself as a big girl, like I weigh as much as a baby elephant☺️ but thinking of my shoulders as small could make sense because my purse handle is always falling off of my shoulder.
I’m not in between I’m 2 separate types 1 for upper body and 1 for lower body. With all the weight gain due to menopause and aging I’m feeling closer together. But when young I had a petite frame upper body size 5-7 and my lower was 11-13 long inseam 33” and short arms very small petite hands etc.. I’ve changed a lot at 60yrs old plus got a boob job 30 years ago to “help balance” me out and put more weight/size on my upper body which helped a lot, I’m shooting for C or D now even with the long legs. I hope this is right lol
Hi Miriam, I'm a little late coming to this comment section but you did ask that we let you know our results here. I ended up with an even amount of B's and C's. Leaning towards upper body B and lower body C. I suppose that's why I've always felt disproportionate....or...as in older body typing, inverted triangle. That excludes me from blended but I'm not sure my bones are long enough to be fully in the long and beveled. 🤦😂
Hey, when it comes to shoulders, it has nothing to do with sharpness then? Because Rachel Weisz's shoulders are rounder than Jennifer's. Jennifer's shoulder on C are much sharper?
What should be the answer for thin or long bones with half big and half tiny joints/knuckles? So if wrists and ankles are tiny but elbows and knees are big 🤣? Should the answer be A or B?
This is c. And fun. I like it! I was busy so I wsnt stri fly focusing or writing down my results but I think I'm a mix of Beveled and Mixed? Is that a thing? Thanks for this !
I think your videos “showing” the differences between various people are probably quite useful... IF one can actually SEE the differences they are gazing at... Which I, apparently, can not. 😩 I never dreamed I was so “visually impaired” until I began trying to become educated about all of this! I find it fascinating and also believe it would be very useful to me personally... but honestly, I truly can not see much of it at all! I can only imagine YOUR frustration with people like me (ARE there others?) who can not seem to see what is right in front of their eyes... especially when you give such detailed explanations coupled with pictures illustrating it all. Clearly the problem lies with me and not you. I am wondering if the following MIGHT help: When you show a photo illustrating a type you are discussing, could you show the photo twice on a split screen, the first unaltered and the second one with you actually drawing the lines on the photo of the body part you are focusing on? (Or anything you think might work to train my eye to “see” what I currently am unresponsive to. Since I really do not understand what my problem is... specifically, it is very hard for me to know what might help me over this /these hurdles!) I truly can not see the differences you keep referring to... and I study these photos, watching the videos numerous times! I truly think mine is a before unrecognized real learning disability! 🤯 Thanks for putting up with the likes of me, and for continuing to search out new ways for us to “get it”! (...and the irony is that previously, I always thought of myself as a very visual person!🙄)
Hi I'm there with you. I can only think of my face as moderate because, well, it's my face, I look at it every day, it's the face I see the most, it just looks like a face to me. Same with my shoulders, and my eyes, and my jaw, and my hands and feet.... I can really only identify the very extremes (and I'm not that, so that's not helpful), even the less extreme A and Es blend in my brain...

I like that you're taking this in the direction of people being between types, or a mixture of types. I definitely feel like that applies to most of us and bringing in elements of the types within yourself could be very beneficial if done in a strategic and artful way.
Okay, but...your hair looks really nice in this video.
thank you!
@@merriamstyle My reply is 7 months late, but you're welcome!😅
I am between mostly B's and a few C's. So no wonder my best looks are relaxed styles with a classic foundation. I call it "the toned down boho" heh oh and the oversized blazer test was quite insightful :)
Thanks for the clarification as Kibbe rules can be overwhelming and confusing. The pictures help a lot when comparing them to my mirror image. I used to think I had a soft jaw but now having compared it to these celebs (and lost some weight) I see it's more of an A jaw. I wonder how many people have a mixed skeleton like mine like percentage wise
[Esc] reality!? Kinda cool to see u here! Love ur work!
Wollte ich nur mal los werden..
I always thought Rihanna had short arms but in the picture where she is wearing a red dress they look super long o.o
This was much easier to understand than other tests. No wonder my results didn't make sense! All this time I was choosing the opposite of what I am because I didn't understand it fully.
The picture examples make this so much easier to understand!
Are you gamine?
(edit: I googled “Human figure proportions diagram” and found lots of good images) 📏📐
I like something objective for reference because I, like many women, have difficulty seeing myself realistically.
Llama Sugar This makes a lot of sense!
Clean Diarrhea Only for body-typing purposes! 😊
Wow this actually makes sense! No wonder I look short at 5'7" with broad shoulders. Thanks a lot!
This is the single most helpful body typing video I've ever seen. I have a sharpened bone structure, but my curvy flesh was throwing me off. The example of Ashley Graham as a SD with more body fat was very helpful.
i love that you innovate your own system - which makes more sense than the usual 'square, rectangle, pear, apple etc.
You are so smart and insightful. Your passion on the subject truly comes through. Love your videos. They’re always so clear and concise. 😍😍😍
aw thank you for such a kind comment!
Mixed is the same as gamine, and in Kibbe gamine, with extra Yang is Flamboyant Gamine.
Aqualyra what is yang?
Her voice is soothing 😴
Excellent! I struggled at 5’10” whether I was A or B type. Based on this, I’m overwhelmingly B.
Yes!!!! I’m Theatrical Romantic! I saw that I would already gravitate towards those lines but...but when I’d shop and try other lines, I would feel frustrated. I would think either I’m fat or they were poorly made clothes. Now, that I understand better my lines, I shop for clothes much faster, asking myself would Marylin, Rihanna or Rachel McAdams wear this, it helps with a mental visual 😂
Thank you, Merriam for your work. I go back to watch your videos because of your voice and because I try to see if I can guess what my friends lines are. 😊
Missed your videos so much on here yayy
Waaaayyyyy easier than kibbe. I'm somewhere between A and B
It is 100% kibbe, its just renaimed
@@taritangeo4948 Ok. It is easier to follow than the original test which I have seen. He doesn't go by the test anymore anyways. The way she explains things seem clear.
I am totally lost
Tari Tangeo ikr, I am a theatrical romantic and most of my answers were D and E with a touch of A. It is basically the same principles
Maybe flamboyant natural?
This may be your best video yet! Seriously so helpful to understanding everything!! Thank you for such good work.
Your hair looks amazing too. Merry Christmas, Merriam!
A bit off topic, but I was curious why there seems to be no Natural Classic type? This would obviously be someone who is basically Classic but with extra blunt Yang. In Kibbe if you are Classic with extra Yang you would be Dramatic Classic but the recommendations seem to assume that you are Classic with some Dramatic and you are supposed to add sharpness, etc. To me that's not the same as adding bluntness or other Natural elements.
it's the same for gamines, now FG are gamine with sharp yang and David kibbe moved those with blunt yang into SN
drinking game, take a shot every-time she says "bone-structure"
Ahh I find this so hard. I cant really see the difference between for example the girl who is curvy with dramatic sholders, or a someone with sloped sholders. All of it is so subtle to me.
I guess I should be dramatic because I am tall and Skinny, but if I wear a suit, to me it looks off, and if I wear a top with jeans I look less defined, almost a size bigger, because my hips are making my top look like I am much rounder. I am sharp maybe, but I also have really larger softer lips and a less defined jawline ( I think?)
I just lose myself in this..
Softer version of sharpened like Tyra Banks, maybe?
Bevelled types are usually big, heavy, wide, whereas mixed types are usually small, light, narrow in my opinion
You’re honestly my favourite UA-cam. So happy I have discovered you Merriam!

(I get lots of compliments on my clothing)

I definitely prefer this to some other tests out there and am curious about the grey area between types too! I used to feel weird about having a mixed body and thought I was "disproportionate" but I'm embracing it now. I feel my best in simple, smooth, fitted clothes with high contrast. :)
That’s what mine is, I think I’m gamine
How can you tell if you have mostly A’s or B’s when some of the answers were “A/B”?
My bone structure is rounded, thanks a lot for the help! I was debating whether I'm a theatrical romantic or a soft gamine and I finally know the real answer: TR!
PlayfulMyth18 I am a TR too, and I got mostly D/E with some touches of A
Merriam, what about having long arms but short legs? Does that classify as short limbs or long limbs? The celebrities in your video are all wearing heels.
I have the very same question because my features are like that 😅
I think she said, you could answer both separately. So i.e. answer A/B for arms, and answer D/E for the legs is quite possible.
I got mostly A answers, with a C and one D. I thought I was a theatrical romantic, but now I'm completely rethinking this.
This is helpful to figure out which parts of me are bringing in which elements
This was so well explained. I like the way you made the categories easy and how you explained the jawline. Thank you for the Christmas present! And Merry Christmas to whoever reads this! 🎄✨
For the longest time, I thought I had the broadest shoulders ever, since the women around me are petite.
Please do body type best suited swimwear examples!

Could you please show a visual comparison between sharp and beveled bones? The difference between dramatics and flamboyant natural is seriously confusing! Some FN celebrities look sharp, and some dramatics have quite wide shoulders?
Awesome video Miriam! I've learned so much.
Can't wait to see more videos on body geometry, especially for the inbetween types and ofc my own!
thank you for this body of work. will have to digest it and keep coming back to this and other of your presentations. thanks

My collarbone won't show up even tho I'm petite and thin. What is the problem?
So, most of my answers are B... And itmakes a lot of sense.
Btw, super easy explanation, so clear.
Hi! I appreciate the effort to have ethnically diverse folks in this test... but would really, really appreciate photos of wider size range mixed in too. You say that bone structure determines how flesh lays on top, but with my (very average) size 20 body, I need examples to see what you mean.
She has videos on plus size ladies as well!
Size 20 isn't average it's obese 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️

I have learned so much from you! Thanks so much!
Hey, when it comes to shoulders, it has nothing to do with sharpness then? Because Rachel Weisz's shoulders are rounder than Jennifer's. Jennifer's shoulder on C are much sharper?
Can't wait to see videos on the other parts of the test
Im classic all C's. Thank you. Like this.. Interested in learning more. 💕
This is really informative and helpful!
When you have a mix of bdeccbb though I will be honest I was fighting over if it was c or b. So best to explain is Bevoled/Blended??
What should be the answer for thin or long bones with half big and half tiny joints/knuckles? So if wrists and ankles are tiny but elbows and knees are big 🤣? Should the answer be A or B?
This is c. And fun. I like it! I was busy so I wsnt stri fly focusing or writing down my results but I think I'm a mix of Beveled and Mixed?
Is that a thing?
Thanks for this !
I think your videos “showing” the differences between various people are probably quite useful...
IF one can actually SEE the differences they are gazing at...
Which I, apparently, can not. 😩
I never dreamed I was so “visually impaired” until I began trying to become educated about all of this! I am wondering if the following MIGHT help:
When you show a photo illustrating a type you are discussing, could you show the photo twice on a split screen, the first unaltered and the second one with you actually drawing the lines on the photo of the body part you are focusing on?
Thank you for the video.
But I still don't understand what I should put if my jawline is non existent and I have a retracted chin...
I'd say I am mixed but not blended. Thanks for all the tips!!
