Careful with that haircut mate, it's nesting season at the moment. 😮
Im growing it before I lose it all Paul 😂
😂😅
Don’t you start Andy 😂
Really interesting video Lester . Keep’em coming
More of these to come Ian.
I love your approach to your utube content, it's very creative and original.
Thanks my friend. Trying to make it a bit different to others.
This is really interesting Bernie - no-one else is doing this kind of video ! Thanks
Thanks Alison. I’ll show how to change the loft and lies in the next video.
Great video Lester. Keep up the good work.
Cheers David! Appreciate the comment.
Good video. Others have mentioned that there is little content like this out there - and its very enlightening and enjoyable to watch. Bad luck with those irons but as you say the videos were great!
I’ll do more of these Jonathan I promise.
Very interesting video Lester
Thanks Mick. I’ll do a loft and lie change next.
Great video and very interesting. I am sure there are numerous methods to change shafts and make adjustments but your way works just fine. It is always fun and interesting to test different shafts and grips and make repairs yourself. Its all part of the golfing experience in my view. Unfortunate that the shaft changes did not work. Cheers.
Absolutely Graeme! If you don’t try you never know! Thanks for the comment! Much appreciated.
As an amateur club fixer i enjoy these videos, looking forward to the swing weight vid when it happens 😉
I’ll definitely do that video and the loft / lie alteration one soon John.
Great video Lester. Was just wondering whether you could have messed about with shaft lengths a tiny amount to close the gapping between 7 and 8 iron. You could always adjust the lie angle afterwards? Just a thought 👍
Yeah that’s not a bad idea and to be honest I didn’t think about that.
At least you give it a try Bernie if you dont try you dont know , Well explained !!!! always like your stuff mate .
Thanks Jeff! Glad you enjoyed it.
Very good video my friend, few people do videos with this degree of detail on club fitting. With regard to the hair cut, at least you still have some. Father Time has a way of removing the necessity of hair cuts for guys like me, I can manage my hairdo with a wash cloth. Best wishes on your endeavors.
Thanks my friend 😂 the short sides are hiding the greys currently 😂
Bugger. I was looking forward to seeing you have a whack with these. Anyhow it was good content. Thanks Bernie.
Thank mate. I’ve got a couple of follow up videos to these.
Ach, thats a shame Bernie, maybe worth keeping eye out for a set of the VR cavity back irons and can revisit combo with the blades?
I think it’s more of a winter project Mark. Will definitely look into it though.
Well explained Lester, didn't understand, or thought about his...like most clubs has to look correct at address, im sure you'll get it sorted and dont over think it! hope you're good mate.
Cheers Colin. I thought it made a decent video so all good.
Made total sense Lester! Nice of experts to comment and give extra information, but glad you pointed out that you try to do it for people on a budget, which is most people, or people who might want to try it themselves. Shame all that work didn’t pan out, but as you said you got two videos out of it and learned something as well. Now go take care of that hair! 😀
Thanks Tyler. Hoping it inspires a few people to do some of their own repairs too.
Very interesting to see the process - the 1 degree sounds minimal & fully understand you wanting to have them ‘just right’ - looking forward to the next update!
One degree would be well within manufacturer's tolerances
It’s just not right and it would bother me I think. May sound anal, but my ocd wouldn’t cope 😂
Absolutely Paul
@@berniebarnesgolfI know that feeling of OCD ..when I play, my clubs & shoes etc have to look pristine-I cannot have it any other way!
It’s part of who we are mate!
Bernie, where did the bowl go after you used it as a template for your haircut style? Interesting video thanks. 👍😀⚒⚒⚒
😂 I’m trying to hide the grey hairs by leaving the sides short 😂
@@berniebarnesgolf I’d get a job as a monk! 😀😀😀
😂 😂
Great video Lester and agin hit the perfect level for my golf club nerdiness! Only thought I had is that quite often the gap between 4 and 5 irons are 3 degrees, why not leave the 4 iron alone and make the gap to 5 iron 4 degrees and then weaken the 5, 6 and 7 as required - may fill the gap better, but not knowing the specs I've no idea!! Keep up the great work
I thought it was too much messing around and so I put them all back John.
@@berniebarnesgolf The better option as it's also known!!
Absolutely 😂 we got two videos out of it John
Good point on the lie angle. Mizuno “standard” is c.1* flatter than Titelist and half a degree flatter than Ping. I’ve noticed the difference probably more in swing weight as I have a set of Mizuno at 2* flat and Ping i230 Orange dot (2 flat) with the same shaft slightly different grips and they do feel different.
It’s amazing how much of a difference it makes with manufacturers. I’ll do a video on swing weight soon Sean.
Try to switch the 7 iron to the blade and see if the gap between 6 and 7 is more manageable. Would love to see the Nike combo set go live, such cool clubs!
If I had the time and it wasn’t the start of the golf season I would have definitely done that.
😂😂😂😂😂 cany wait to see the master club fitter vlog
I need to find one first Kev 😂
Use 1 of the armchair experts 🤷♂️
On it 😂
You will be sound Bernie 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for the support Martin!
Interesting but above my head as I have enough swing thoughts going through my head at address 😂 Just shows how little I know about the game I love save for one rule that never fails...when your swing is going well the wheels will fall off !!
Absolutely David! 😂
I’d be tempted to try it before pulling all those shafts again ? Or a smaller loft tweak on both ?
I did game the clubs for a couple of rounds, but with the season starting I don’t have the time to tinker at the moment Andrew.
Going to American golf on wednesday for a fitting, that should be a laugh.
Let us know how you get on!
Haha that was a funny one 😂
Thanks Ivan 😂
Hey mate get yourself a set of Srixon zx7 irons they are mint the feel is amazing
I will definitely try some of the srixons out Mike as Harry is sticking them in the shop.
Well, you did say you could always change them back, 😂
Still informative and educational
I have and did Andrew 😂
I think you'll be fine Lester. 1* isn't going to move the offset much. 2-3* you would ...but 1* will barely be noticeable.
It’s not worth doing and 1 degrees may not be enough mate. I’ll put them back and buy something else.
So did you go to Harry Flower's barber to get that lid😂. We didn't get a chance at a comedic vlog of you on the course with the new set up
I do have a vlog coming up where I hit them Brian 😂
It's good I don't have access to a golf workshop, because I'd be tinkering all the time, lol. OTOH, I wouldn't be stuck right now with having found a great set of used cast irons but, so far, no one willing to change the lie angles for me. If only I lived near Churston...
Cast irons are difficult (not impossible) to bend. Potentially they make break mate, probably why they won’t do it. I’d do it though 😂
Unfortunate, but enjoyed watching the process. I recommend you nick a set from Dan's office :)
There’s a nice set of pxg’s floating around in there somewhere.
I’ve actually tried them Steve 😂
I’ll be up there Monday morning “testing” some out 😂
Why not bend half a degree on each then have a gapping session to see if it is an issue. Great vid good luck!
I panicked and put them back to the way they were originally as I’ve got so much golf coming up Paul.
Nothing ventured nothing gained Lester chin up mate and carry on 👍
Totally Nick! It meant two extra videos as well, so all good. Thanks for the comment.
Oh no 😞
I know Dave! 😂
❤
Thanks for watching Lars.
Enjoyable video Bernie 👏
Btw....what's the lie and loft of your hairstyle....looks like plenty of offset thete!!!🧑🧑🧑✂️✂️😂😂😂
😂 I’ve had it cut since mate 😂
Nothing ventured nothing gained Lester, good hair 😂 MacGregor blades all day 👍
😂 I do love a good looking blade Craig!
So was there no checking that the scorelines/grooves were lined up with the machine?!?
Yeah I did all that, been using a loft and lie machine for 30 years so I’m pretty good on it Jonny.
Deloft the #8 1/2° and add 1/2° to the #7 iron... down to a 12 yard gap 🎉
Too late Paul, I’ve changed all the shafts back already.
Why don’t you just bend them either lower end or longer end and see how you go, can always revert back if forged. Lot of effort to
Go to without a result
Didn’t have the time to mess around too much Charlie, lots of events coming up so reverted them back to the original.
Keep trying Lester ! 😂
I’ll never stop Peter 😂
Might be me but is the obvious answer not to stick the VR 7 iron in & carry "2 7 irons" . Effectively the vapour 7 is the 6 in the VR set? I play cobra rf forged mb but wanted more forgiveness in 4 iron so i play the 5 from my old set as 4 ?
I could have done that I guess, although I would have had to find / buy another shaft, plus I would have to drop a club to accommodate the extra one.
Wouldn't it have been worthwhile hitting them on the GC quad to see what the actual gapping might be, Bernie?
I used my Mevo and I played 3/4 practice rounds so no there’s a problem/ gap Kev.
Future video on how to bend clubs - 👌🏻
Absolutely! Can’t give it all away in one video my friend! 😂
Man! What a bummer
It’s another video mate 😂
@@berniebarnesgolf lolol yep!
😂 more content the better 😂
Lester you free tomorrow Friday 3rd or your still in Ireland?
I am Dean
The hair looks like a Roman house help 😂😂😂
Had it cut since Garry 😂
Admirable levels of OCD! Not sure it was unsuccessful, I think you should take them out and see how you get on with them, although you've probably already got the wrecking ball out...🤣
😂 I did game them a couple of times mate, but felt the alterations would need plenty of tweaking and with the season starting I couldn’t afford the time. More of a winter project I feel.
You don't try you don't no I live in somerset hopefully we cross paths one day realy would injoy a game golf with you
Absolutely Bobby. Worth a try and back to the drawing board 😂 always available for a game.
Ye defo when ever your ready keep up the vids bernie I like them and I like the way you do your own thing
Cheers Bobby.
Your Sub70 irons looked good?
I wasn’t convinced with the shafts and keep hooking them Richard.
@@berniebarnesgolf At 59 I did not play for 3 years and came back to playing 3 years ago. I was different and tried light weight graphite and steel shafts but I have no idea where the club is in the swing. Currently back to C Taper 105 S Flex. Seems good at least at this time. Keep searching?
Yeah still searching Richard. I have the cobras currently back in the bag.
TRY them on the course for a couple of rounds . They might just suit anyway. Not everything has to be perfect.
I have mate and it’s an issue, so cut my losses and put them back 😂
@@berniebarnesgolf OK mate have fun. hope you get it right for you.
I’ll keep tinkering 😂
Blimey Bernie, a 3 degree difference between 7 and 8 gives you 15 yards!! What would it be if you put the 7 back to 34 like it should be???!!!
It was more the style and model that make The yardage differences Adam.
Too much technology for me I'm afraid but still very informative, did I hear right that you gap from a 4 iron to a 7 wood ? I thought players of your handicap and skill set wouldn't put one in the bag ?
The 7 wood is in the bag as my 2 iron doesn’t carry very far and in the winter I can hit the 7 wood easier then the longer irons Rick.
Game the Cobra's Bernie, or you could pillage Dan's shed he has more clubs than Imeldaa Marcos had Shoes
I am gaming the Cobras Tom.
worked for 30 years!!!!.....but your only 25.....😂
😂 😂 Steve
Your should at least try them out before pulling them apart, theory and Practice are two different things
I gamed the clubs for two weeks prior and this video was filmed a few weeks ago Simon.
stop saying sorry ,there is always some people to pock there nose in keep chin up😀
Cheers Roger!
