That's one of the best looking Maxima's I've seen, AND it's my favorite gen! The lines were so smooth, the interior was plush, and it handled just like the Mazda MX-6/Ford Probe GT, which was a GOOD thing. With a stick and no mods, it could do 60 in 6.7s and the quarter mile in 15 flat.
My grandpa had a 95 Maxima SE and loved it. I was wrenching on my second DSM (GS-T) at the time. He let me drive it once and it scares him, which was funny to me because it has the same engine as the much forgotten Ford Probe GT, a KL-ZE.
    Anyways, awesome Maxima. Enjoy it!

@@DrewLSsix I feel like people don't put effort into builds like they do back in the day. Back in the day it seems people went all in their builds. Every aspect from engine to interior. • @tripleoo0
      @tripleoo0 3 роки тому +1

I kind of like the old modding culture better, to be honest. Modding a car today is mostly, if not entirely, about speed and taking it to the track. That's fine, nothing wrong with that, but it's not my cup of tea, personally. The idea of modding your car in the 90s and early aughts style is simply to make the car you have as nice or as cool as you can. That's why I find builds like Vince's Maxima especially cool; that car has no business sitting next to the R33 GTR that Leon drives under normal circumstances. But a few thousand dollars and a lot of elbow grease later, it measures up in most aspects, plus you can comfortably fit four people in it.

@@DigitalSubset @Digital Subset Not all 4th gens had that issue. Some Infiniti I30s suffered too because it was essentially the same powertrain. I did the stupid mistake of doing a transmission flush to it and I definitely hurt the tranny more. It began doing this weird cricket type noise under slow acceleration.
Yes, a bad coil would make it idle rough. I'd definitely change the spark plugs if you haven't already. I'd probably stick with the NGK platinum tips though and not go with something like Denso or NGK iridium. I'm sure you want more longevity over performance at this point.
Also, make sure to have the person changing the spark plugs check for fouling to better pinpoint any faulty coil. I remember paying like around $85 per coil back then.

actually Garret and I did the audio install AFTER the movie was in the can and was getting ready for the premier, still have the promo posters somewhere with the title still as Red Line. Contrary to the Mobile Entertainment magazine article Garrett led the install and didn't work for the shop anymore when they called for the article. I remember I was rather pissed at the dated choices on trim panels backed by tweed that Garrett insisted on lol... I did all the wiring under hood and interior to the trunk, the dash work (hated those carbon fiber sticker kits SOOOO much lol), blue trim panels (around woofers and trunk lid), and power distribution... and put the voltage meter top from the capacitors on the trunk lid, also wasn't super proud of the carpet play station tray on the trunk lid but was a rushed last minute thing as time to red carpet was short. Garrett built and wired the amp racks and subwoofer enclosure and cut in the headrest monitors. This was my second "show car" after building the Wings West Prelude at another shop, think I was 20-21 y/o at the time. did the tangelo orange Focus and red civic that later became a hot wheel for wings west right after this and led those installs from start to finish when i was 21

I dig this gen of maxima, probably the best one imo. Rims looked like really cool stock rims though. It's oddly fun listening to you spin tales cause your knowledge is very deep. Been bigne watching all of these vids. great work.

Bringing up John Tysseling’s name brought up memories. He was my first boss during my late teens and early twenties when I would work at the NY Renaissance Faire. I remember him saying he had one of the cars from this movie when I would talk about my Del Sol Si. I never saw it as it wasn’t in NY at the time.

I loved the first film, and still do, so so much. It was a big part of shaping my teen years getting into car modification and all that.
The thing I loved most about f&f was the fact it had all random cars like this, the Jetta etc.

I remember here in the UK I had a Vauxhall Omega 3.0 V6 24v which was aimed at the Nissan Maxima/Toyota Camry and done the following:
    4bar fuel pressure regulator
    Iridium plugs
    Cool running thermostat
The car stock pumped out 211hp but I had it on the dyno and at the flywheel put out 249hp.
I was really proud, nothing internal had been done at all.

I had one of those maximas with 170k miles.
    99 maxima.
After some mantiance work and a full bushing replacement on suspension and some other small stuff, that thing was bullet proof. I handed it down to my kid who beat on it for a few more years. Then finally sold it for more then I bought it.
One of my all time fav cars I have owned.
