R.I.P. Georg Plasa

It is with a heavy heart that we report that KW family member and German hill climber Georg Plasa died while competing in the Coppa Carotti in Italy.
The 51 year old hill climb expert was driving his Judd V8 powered BMW 134 at the time of the incident. Georg was a long time KW family member and had often used the KW 7 post chassis dyno to develop his world renowned BMW E36 as well as his most recent BMW 134. Georg and his team were consummate professionals and they were very helpful in the support of our brand by allowing the use of his championship cars for display purposes at events like our 10 year anniversary and the Essen Motor Show.
RIP and Godspeed Georg, you will be missed.

I read the official accident investigation. It was not due to a technical defect, but to a driving error. He drove through the curve in 6th gear instead of 5th. He was way too fast. There is a similar curve later that is driven in 6th gear. He mixed up the curve. Because he was too fast, the car hung up on the front right and sanded. Not due to a defect in the chassis. RiP Georg Plasa

+pablof59 I really think he forgot where he was on the track, and gunned it thinking he had a straight ahead. He could drive beautifully, but it's like he didn’t expect that bend like it was. And just like he always drove he died going at 110% commitment. RIP George Plasa.

+Jeremy Acton The reason is mechanical failure on front suspension.Take a closer look in the video of the crash and you'll see how left side of front bumper scratches on road.It's not supossed to scratch like that.Something went wrong with suspension because he couldn't even steer or brake.
