exactly. I try not to say palmrolling is useless because sometimes people don’t hear the “for me” that comes right after. My scalp is always the first place I perspire so interlocking is the only logical move for me.
My friend who’s a hairstylist started my locs and she knew my hair type/ lifestyle so she discussed w/ mi about doing interlocking. I’m glad we did go with interlocking because it just works for mi and keeps mi out my head for longer periods of time. Also, we started w/ the same method of the non traditional interlocking.
I'm 3 months in on starter twist locs. I did palm rolls when retwisting but my scalp didnt like it either. Waaay too much tention and they didn't last because I sweat in my scalp. My roots are now interlocked...this way is so much better para mí también😉
This video was so helpful, I want small-medium loc’s, starting with two strand twists. Using the interlock technique because my scalp is very sensitive, hates too much tension, low density and breaks when over styled. I think because you don’t have to worrying about unraveling with interlocking it would be better for me.
Bantu knots are super cute! I choose traditional because I’m lazy and don’t want to do my hair often. i can go mths without retwisting. I didn’t try interlocking. Didn’t like the look of locs. Switched back to retwisting. Only takes me a hour to do it. I have done thin hair. And traditional has been healthier for them.
Thank you! Everyone’s hair is different and people are always surprised at how my locs look interlocked. I don’t think one is more superior to the other, but I know interlocking is best for my needs and lifestyle. Might palmroll in the future for a second set of eyes to restablish parting.
I have interlocked since the beginning of my journey. I wash once or twice a month and retighten every couple months. My scalp is also sensitive, even a ponytail hurts.
I honestly think my scalp became more sensitive after I started my locs because I can’t tolerate tension or gel at all anymore. I was retwisting for the first year but I realized I needed to wash more often and embrace the frizz, so I switched to interlocking. My locs are pretty thick though, I have a lot of hair and 88 locs, so I’m taking longer period between reties.
The tension and the gel could’ve irritated your scalp and worsened it’s sensitivity. My mom had about the same amount and we take 3 months or so between her interlock sessions.
Girl, we are the same when it comes to palm rolling. Tried and tried but can't palm roll or retwist to save my life. It's so confusing lol. Interlocking is what I can do so I stick with that. I have 144 tiny braidlocs. Sorry you are in so much pain with the style but yes if you can manage it, please do a tutorial on those gorgeous bantu knots!!
Palmrolling doesn’t stick for me either. My hair puffs right out of the twists and lasts literally 2 days. I’ll definitely film a tutorial soon because I loved these knots so much.
Would love an update in 7 years- as many have hairless in the middle ( crown) area with SL --- me and many others I've come to know - all have since cut them out - good luck 👍
Knowing me I’d probably trim them over time to avoid tension and breakage in my crown. Also my hair is extremely lightweight due to its fineness so I don’t foresee my locs becoming heavy. I may even cut them off and start over by then who knows.
@@rayshelw4556 i would say its easier with interlocking. You’re likely to to get way less unraveling but it’s still possible depending on your hair texture.
I’d say that locs smooth out as they mature so there’s not much you can do to avoid puffiness and frizz in the beginning stages. You could always add product but I wouldn’t personally recommend it.
I'm the type who will go to the bathroom and once I feel the water on my skin I have a sudden urge to stand directly under the water so I'm doing a bit of research on what's best for ME. I know people love to force their opinions but I just wanted to know what I'd be getting myself into.. is there a specific loc size that looks better interlocked?
I am the absolute same. I’d say that smaller locs look best interlocked entirely because the pattern it creates is less noticeable. That’s the case for sisterlocks and microlocs, I would’ve gone smaller if I thought I could maintain it myself.
@@JaeCemma I'm back! 😅 I got my starter locs done a few days short of a month ago and since I will be "neatening" my hair next week I came back for a refresher.
I also started off with two strand twists and followed up with interlocking! I workout and Im a sweaty person so palm rolling wouldve been useless 😂

Exactly why, im about to interlock
Same here minus the working out part🤦🏾♀

I had to figure it out the hard way with experience but I’m glad you had support and guidance starting your journey 👏🏾

Yesss. I love that my locs are so low maintenance and I can live my life with ease. 👏🏾

Love the locs and i interlock as well. I like washing my hair a lot so it would better for me. Also my hair goes away from the loc 🙄
Thank you! 🙏🏾 It’s a hard life with hair growing out the loc.
@@JaeCemma yes it is. I wasn’t prepared lol 😭
Same here. I’m always working around it during reties.
Is it easier to clean your hair with the traditional or interlock

I just got my interlocks done today my hair is shoulderlength how do I get my ends to lay/tips smooth right now they’re very puffy
