Hello Dave and Helen, that looked a lovely fry up. A good way indeed to start the day. Aah Bella so sweet in the background. Kettle's boiling. I always put milk in my tea first, Tony doesn't like milk so has his black. It really looks a very nice campsite. The topur around the Ghost Ship brewery looked very interesting. thanks for showing us around , Take care x Julie and Tony x

Hi there, Dave & Helen, Milk in the tea first as you can dip the bag until you have the required strength. Hi Dave, I worked at Taylors of Harrogate where they make Yorkshire tea. It is definitely milk second. The reason being is that you need to maintain the hot temperature to allow the tea to brew. This is 3 minutes. It was the Victorians who brought in milk first at the hot water cracked the fine bone China cups! I love Yorkshire Tea but a very close second, is Coop breakfast tea.

    • @HelenandDave
      @HelenandDave  2 місяці тому +2

:o) Just made a cup of Yorkshire the way you have suggested, didn't leave enough room for the milk and sugar, slopped it all over the kitchen worktop and it tastes just the same as it does the way I make it.
I reckon we were not supposed to make tea in bags and the fact that we do doesn't really altar the end product. Anyway, just had a rollocking for leaving wet cup rings on the table now too lol Thanks for watching, take care, Dave & Helen

Fully agree that milk should be second for the same reasons. An added bonus being that when using tea-bags the contents make good compost, but not when contaminated with milk as that can cause a nasty fungus to grow.

My Goldilocks is Yorkshire Gold in a 1pint Mug with 1 teaspoon of un-refined granulated sugar, poor over BOILING water and leave to steep for 4 minutes-ish, squeeze out the bag and add semi skimmed milk. Bootiful!. Accompany this with a Scone for afternoon perfection. Again, for ME this is a warm plain scone adequately buttered, spread with clotted cream then a dollop of home made Blackcurrant Jam. Jam first or cream first is just a distraction, the main requirement is you can't bite into it without getting Jam (or cream if you must) on the end of you nose! Cheers Caz and Squash

Hiya Sandra, we’ve heard Sainsburys red label is good too but not sure we’ve tried it. Brekkie was amazing even though we filmed it at 6pm 😂. Thanks as always, Helen & Dave 👍

Hi Helen and Dave another brilliant video sounds a wonderful place to camp and the wildlife seems to be in abundance! Love the campfire and Dave you do a mean breakfast! Fruit pudding is a new one on me isn’t it Scottish? Need to try some of that! Mind you Victoria’s grandad always swore by fried spotted dick on his breakfast which is apparently a Hampshire tradition where he was from!
As for tea it’s got to be builders tea and Yorkshire tea but if you are ever in wales get some paned cymraeg 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 it’s a really nice blend not unlike Yorkshire tea and we love it! You can get it online and the caddies for it to go in we were told about it on holiday in north wales as we loved the tea!
Love Southwold and anything adnams would love to do the tour if we can when we go next year it’s great to see it made and i bet it was amazing from the brewery tap
I am surprised adnams don’t use greene king in bury st Edmond’s but the old bass brewery in burton is immense it’s well worth seeing on their tours we went with work
Hope the girls had a good day whilst you were all in adnams 😂 all the best to you all Daniel

Morning Daniel, brekkie and infact the whole campfire cooking experience was awesome. Yes fruit pudding is a Scottish breakfast tradition. Brewery tour was also a fab experience. The ladies enjoyed lunch without us but it was a mutual feeling 😂😊 Best wishes and thanks as always, Helen & Dave 👍

Another great vlog, but starting the “how do you make a cup of tea” debate is a dangerous game lol. As a non Yorkshireman clearly you will never know how its done proper like 😂 Tea bag first then hot water leave 4 min to brew remove the bag and add milk never squeeze the bag as it releases tannins and spoils the brew. The only thing you are doing right is Yorkshire Tea is the best!!!
Joking aside your vlogs are the best out there.
    All the best Ian

Hi Roz, a strange breakfast accompaniment popular in Scotland. ‘Another traditional Scottish delicacy, suitable for frying or grilling. This delicious, sweet and savoury pudding is made using breadcrumbs, ginger, cinnamon, plump sultanas and currants.
Fantastic served with crispy bacon and a runny free-range egg.’ Cheers, Helen & Dave 👍

I reckon even I could organise a drinking session in a brewery, must do that one day.😉
I was brought up with milk in the cup first, now prefer milk last as the right amount of milk can be added, not too much, Twinings English Breakfast tea for me, otherwise, Yorkshire.
As for beer, Adman’s Broadside or Woodfordes Nelson’s Revenge, although Ghost Ship and Wherry are good substitutes. Alcon’s Encore also good, keeping it local. Cannot beat a good beer or two or three or eight along with camp fire cooking. Always remember, beer does not travel well, so should always be drunk to avoid the journey home, well, that is what I tell Lydia😇.

Sorry but a tea bag should never come into contact with milk. 😁 I'm not sure of the science behind it but if milk goes in first it definitely affects the flavour and strength of the brew.
