Drumming is awfully boring when you've parsed your fills before you've played them.

@@ericmalone3213 ok, that’s your opinion, and it’s fine. In the other hand, analyzing what you play, understanding it’s function, and internalizing drumming leads to a functionally and consciously way of playing

@@mattdrumss Oh no, you're going to pull a "that's your opinion"!? Oy! SNORE! "analyzing what you play, understanding it’s function, and internalizing drumming leads to a functionally and consciously way of playing" Thank you Captain Obvious!
Have you ever wondered why there are seemingly endless videos on the Ye Olde YouzeTube instructing drummers how to drill themselves, practice by rote, get "the John Bonham sound", play like Steve Gadd, and parse their chops until the cows no longer have a home to return to, yet there isn't a single drumming video talking about or demonstrating how to play in free time? I have yet to see any videos about playing non-tempered scales, videos about the difference between improvising and extemporizing, or a video titled "How to play like Tony Oxley". And it appears the Spike Milligan video "How To Approach Music Like A Drill Sergeant As The Jellied Gasoline That Was Rubbed Into Your Hair Has Been Set Alight" has been taken down for copyright violation!

@@ericmalone3213to be fair the title of the video is “drum fill of the day!” Which would imply that the main point of the video is the drum fill itself, weather he plays it at the start of a groove, or middle or end is really inconsequential, it’s still the same drum fill either way 🤷🏼‍♂️
